OMG! Are you seriously suggesting that anyone who smokes, drinks or curses is NOT a Chrtistian. Well I don't smoke, but I'm guilty of the other two, so I guess I am going to Hell! Will you pray for me please?

beck0321 - good points all, you left one out though:

not to mention the sex on TV part - if the majority/overwhelming amount of people weren't tuning in - then it wouldn't be there...you can't tell me a major portion of that audience isn't Christian......

Some of you are really your own worst enemies. :rolleyes1

At least I didn't pretend to be peacekeeper when the reality is you have been holding a grudge with Robin for over a year. Saw through you pretty quickly. Thanks for the laugh. :rotfl2:

whew. :rolleyes1 You were rude a year ago and evidently nothing's changed. I've really tried to be polite on here and yet I'm still not going to stoop to your level.

If it's rude to point out your hypocrisy in asking for the thread to be closed repeatedly with one hand while stirring the pot with the other, then I am guilty as charged!

I think I've been among the few here to try to be nice and mature. You obviously can't let that happen. I've watched your posts back from the day of the "ROLLING BACKPACK" debate, and you were just as rude then. It's a shame.
Dang, I can't keep up with the daily posts in one thread,
you are quite exceptional in keepin' up with a particular
thread and POSTER from a year ago.
There's probably a name for that :rolleyes1

Your statement is ignorant, firstly. The replica of the Koutoubia Minaret in the Morocco pavilion is not a mosque. A prayer tower/minaret and a mosque are not the same thing. These days, minarets are more decorative in purpose, as the Muslims use speaker systems to call the faithful to prayer.

Secondly, anyone who wishes to can avoid the buildings in World Showcase that are of a religious nature, as tourists can expect them to be there. I have not seen the skywriting, but it would be quite annoying to see on my WDW vacation, the same as if a fellow tourist tried to push pamphlets on me. No thanks.

Thirdly, why must you lump all people of one religion together? Do you think terrorist Muslims let all other Muslims know of their evil plots? Do you think only Islam is not a peaceful religion?

I'm very sorry for you and anyone else who believes as you do. I hope the next time you pray, God opens your eyes.

1. Seems to me like someone change the name of the structure to Koutoubia Minaret.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koutoubia_Mosque

mosque (msk) KEY

NOUN:

A Muslim house of worship.

2. Avoid looking up if is bothers you.

3. A radical will stand out.

OK I've read through all of the posts. Wow!

I'm a Christian. It pains me to read how many have such a negative view on my religion. Some of you have been through some awful things at the hands of so-called Christians. It really is a shame. I am a firm believer in immulating Christ's love for others, not attacking, or shoving anything down anyone's throat. I respect and appreciate the religons of others and have taught my daughter to do so as well.

With regards to the sky writer, I like it. He is speaking love. In complete honesty if it would have said Praise Allah, I would not be scared or offended.

All people should be free to express their opinions freely without fear of harm (Although sometimes I kind of smile when someone punches one of the God Hates *** People.) I don't have to agree, I don't have to like it, but I do have the right to peacefully express my opposing viewpoint.

OK I know this OT, but seriously with the turn this thread has taken, who cares? Uncle R WTH is this? I mean is it some kind of elephant with two noses? It's really freaking me out!
I'm not that into old Disney movies so forgive me for my ignorance.

depends on the definition: others give a definition of simply "a slender tower with balconies" - I believe a minaret can be an architectural feature not necessarily associated with a Mosque.....not to argue - just my personal musings.....edited to add: I guess the example I was thinking of was the Taj Mahal - always thought of that as a tomb/mausoleum, but it is in fact a mosque as well - cool! I guess!!! I always thought of them in other terms - but, hey!!!! - I learned something today. Still think it is a cool and will spend more time in "Morroccco" next time to learn more!!!! :thumbsup2

It is the "tar baby" that Brer Rabbit got stuck to in The Song of the South.

It is also one of the reasons why it was not sold in the US.

I want to clarify my stance and your post gives me an opening to do that.
I hate this practice, I know the visceral reaction it would illicit from me. I think it's tacky and stupid... and thoughtless. I think it's pushy and obnoxious and not at all what Christ had in mind. (There exercising my right to freedom of expression).

That said, not once did I ever say that he shouldn't be allowed to do it, nor that I thought the law should stop him. Or any other such thing. You see, while I feel the way I stated above, I also know that I would die for this nutjobs right to be a nutjob. In other words while I may loathe and detest everything that comes out of someone's mouth, I will fight to the death for their cival right to say it.

On the other hand, I'm also not going to be shy about expressing my own thoughts, and feelings on the subject... after all what's good for the nutjob is good for the heathen right?

Good link. But if you read it, you will see a minaret is the spire associated with the mosque. A minaret is part of a mosque. The terms are not interchangable.

My point is that is a relgious structure and that it is a mosque with a minaret on it.

It's a politcal statement, saying our president got us stuck in Iraq.

I agree with this political commentary and I'm gasp....... a Republican!!!!!!!!!

OK Concerning the OP's post and original topic of the sky writer. This is my beef with it. I am not offended when I see something that says Jesus Loves You. If I saw the sky writer, I would have been like "Oh that's weird" because it's not something you see every day.
- On a side note, now if I see him this December, I will surely be like, "Oh look! It's the skywriter everyone in the DISboards made such a fuss about!" And of course my DH would look and say "OMG YOU'RE so weird!" -
Anyway, it offends me to think that they are most likely taking people's money and using it to do this. If not that's fine, but I just doubt this is one really rich guy who can afford to do this all the time. The website seems to be some kind of group. I would rather see them spend the money on something less elaborate and help the people who REALLY need help (like the homeless and orphaned in the community).

Oh OK thanks, I was more wondering about what the picture was of. I didn't know if it was some kind of scary animal. But I sort of thought that is what it meant anyway.

And everyone else pointed out that there is also a church in EPCOT (Norway) and you don't seem to have a problem with that.

Bigot.

Yeah, the mess we're in with Iraq freaks me out too.
Your question is a li'l unclear to me,
but it's part of my siggy for the time bein'
and I won't even touch how it has anything
to do with this thread topic...I know the
Tar Baby story :lmao:
I guess I should add
The New Stories of the Old Plantation
as told by Uncle Remus is an old book
by Joel Chandler Harris before it was
an old Disney movie. :)

Ok, this is going to sound like a flame - but it's not.
It's actually a statement of how I have come to view Republicans, and a request that one of their own help put some of my misconceptions to rest. (I used to think they were all horrible people, until I got one as a proffesor and discovered I actually like him.)

Republicans are - Rich people, or people who someday want to be rich and want this system set up to support them when they get there, or who just flat out idolize the rich. Republicans don't care who gets hurt, or if they can't put food on the table so long as the powers that be put guns in their closets, God in the Class Room - and everywhere else in the public and political spectrum, and Gays somewhere out of site and mind - preferably in some kind of containment camp. Republicans hate gays, and still belive a woman's place is in the kitchen and tending to the babies. Want to take all the money from social programs so they can put them into the pockets of wealthy people. Keep telling me to pully myself up by my bootstraps, but keep cutting the bootstraps. (I'm going to school to get a degree that I can maintain with my disability - would the current adminstration please stop cutting back my funding?)

Now - as I said this despite all outward appearances is not meant as a flame... but as long as you're here I thought I'd lay out all my thoughts, and give myself a chance to be educated by a sane rational member of the party I've come to see as evil and scary... (No sarcasam, I mean it - I really do want to be educated and who better then an actual Republican?)
