Thanks for all the help with logo. I really appreciate it.

No problem at all. I'll mess around with some of the suggestions tomorrow just to see how they look on a logo.

I would imagine there would be no problem with using the logo for fund raising. I do a lot of work with the Relay for Life and they allow their logo to be used under the fair use exception of their copy write provided it is for ACS fund raising, so I don't see GKTW not giving you permission. The DIS logo probably won't be an issue either since in the end they will probably do the actual logo and artwork.

DIS Runs the World for GKTW is growing on me. I like the rhyme and rhythm. And I also get amusement from the idea of DIS Unplugged running the world - any world.

I think I am going to do this.. walk or run I am not sure of as I don't do either yet. Can't wait to hear what Kathy comes up with so I can make a decision.

Woo Hoo!! :)

I am in the same boat as you! I am doing it either way...just don't know where I am staying yet! :) :goodvibes

I don't think it will be a problem either. I was just saying we'll need to get permission. I'm looking over GKTW's fundraising guidlines and they say to "please submit all print materials including t-shirts, flyers, etc. prior to printing for approval."

Frank, wow, you are so quick. This is just along the lines of what I was envisioning in my head.

That is the beauty of Photoshop: highlight text, retype, save, done!

To be honest I like the second one. Having the two logos next to eachother makes it look a little jumbled. I like the "presented by" thing to since it kind of is. The presented by can also be done seperately, kind of like the normal 5K shirt with the symbol and then underneath all of the sponsors could be listed (Dreams Unlimited, DisBoards, DIS Unplugged). Of course if the Swan & Dolphin or any of the other sponsors contribute or even provide discounts for participants they can be on the shirt too.

Whatever the choice is in the end I'm sure it will be good.

Aaah, I used to be a master of photoshop in a former life. My issue with the 2nd one is I'd like the DIS Unplugged logo to be more prominent.

I know what you mean, it was just an observation. This is what I was talking about with the sponsors:

I like this one the best, too!

can we fit www.disboards.com on there somewhere? So that people will know where we are online? :)

And would DIS Runs in The World sound better?

I mean, WE think that DIS runs the world! :) But maybe not? :rotfl2:

Anything can be added. The web address though doesn't have to be part of the symbol though. For example, if the symbol will be on the back of the shirt the web address can be above it or even on the front. The logo itself should have as little as possible so it stands out. At least that is what I remember from marketing class back in the day.

And would DIS Runs in The World sound better?

Again, I think less is better. In running, you usually don't use "in" when describing races. For example "I am running Nashville this year" would be understood as "I am running in the Nashville Marathon".

Of course if Running in the world is liked more it can be added, but keeping it as simple as possible is best IMO. I have been wrong before and will be many more times, I assure you there are many who would confirm that.:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:

You guys are making me smile.

Ok...I guess I am in... DIS can rule the world! :) :rotfl: :lmao:

I totally see your point on the logo...

and on the back of the shirt, maybe, we can put the www.disboards.com and other sponsors logos...etc. I mean...who are we kidding...all they are going to see is the BACK of OUR shirts, anyway!!! :)

Sounds cool to me! :)

I am glad someone took classes in marketing. I definitely did not!

I did add the disboards logo to the last one I did. That is usually how race shirts are done. There is a symbol for the run or the cause the run is for and then the sponsors are listed underneath. Sometimes they have the Main sponsor first with a larger logo, then another level down sponsor(s) with smaller logos, and so on.

The actual logo itself would just be the event logo and it could have the sponsor logos separate, not only on the shirt but on any promotional signage. Obviously the DIS unplugged or Disboards.com is the major sponsor so we could incorporate their logo like I did in the original 2 and then put any other sponsors below it like in the last one.

I'll take some pictures of other race shirts I have sitting around the house so you can see what I mean.

The possibilities are endless(ish).

which of the races is the easiest to walk/jog? I guess the 5k, but what about the half marathon? Is it just running or other activities as well? If I can talk DH into going for January we would probably be interested, if not then can we sponsor or give a donation to the DIS team?

You can walk any of the races, technically. But the 5K would be the easiest if you want to "slowly" walk. You can walk the half, but you have to go pretty fast, as the "pace" is 15 min miles...which is 4 mph on a treadmill, if you want to check that out. But you can get toward the front of the group and have lots of "extra" minutes to be a little slower. But it is a LONG walk...I will probably be out there over 3.5 hours. Or right at it.

They will "sweep" you (come by and get you with some sort of vehicle) if you are going too slow and then you don't get a medal. But someone wrote a report from 07 that finished in a little over 4 hours and still got a medal...so there is a little wiggle room (but she was VERY close to being swept). And no guarantee they won't sweep you before that time.

Most of us will mostly walk, but will also jog to stay ahead of the the sweepers! And we won't spend too much time in the restroom or taking photos with the characters or taking random pictures on the way. :)

There is a LOT of event info on the W.I.S.H thread under Events if you want to get some more details. www.disneyrunning.com also has some info, too...course info, etc.

Come join us!!! :)
