Oops again!! I didn't notice DH was logged in, so I posted under his name (ScubaD) by mistake instead of mine! He's the brave one to run the 1/2 marathon!! I don't want to ruin his reputation saying he couldn't walk the 1/2 marathon!! :lmao:

I'm in, of course, Dave! :thumbsup2

(And if you need a partner for the Muddy Buddy in May, you know you can call me!)

Dave, if you're interested, I'll ask if you can move your registration to our group. Even if you're not interested in moving the registration, there may be others out there who might be.

Yes, count me in that group... I'm already registered for the Goofy, but would gladly be part of the group. :)

I am pondering the possibility of going Dopey, but I won't add the 5k till i know if this is a go, so i can do it through the charity!

I am thinking about the same thing, though I'd probably only do so if I convinced DW to join me. So far, she hasn't expressed any interest whatsoever (in fact, it was more like laughing while saying no).

That said, a friend of mine at work who did the Marathon last month, and is a more experienced runner than myself, highly recommends doing an easy 2 miles or so the day before a bigger race, just to "turn the legs over" and stay fresh. This wouldn't be that much different....hmmm....

you guys doing the Goofy...wow!!!!!!!!

I can't even imagine that!

Oops...I just re-read your post where you said you were going to walk the 1/2 marathon, not the 5K!! ;) I feel a little overwhelemed by the 1/2 marathon :faint: , although a day of walking through WDW probably is equivalent to a 1/2 marathon!! :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Yeah...I am doing the 13K first...which will make it easier to swallow...hopefully!

I was inspired by a young lady that walked/jogged it...she is fluffy like me...she finished in 4 hours and 4 minutes and got a medal! I figure I can walk that fast! She stopped and took pictures with the characters, etc. :)

I did 4.5 miles at a 16.2 minute/mile pace. And I am just starting my training. So you can do it!! If you want!! :) But I understand not wanting to do it....It is going to be a long morning! :)

If I could raise the money for it, I'd do all three races, so yeah, count me as interested.

I have never done a marathon before. But I am seriously considering doing the Half Marathon. And if it's for a good cause, I really would love doing the marathon.

Great job!! Way to go!! :thumbsup2

I am already registered for the Goofy, and I would have to know more to commit. However, it is an excellent charity which we already support. This is a great idea.

I have a friend signing up for the half marathon, and his wife will join my wife on the 5K. They are unaware of the GKTW but they will know soon and they would probably be on the team too.:thumbsup2

Good morning! (OK, Maroo/Mary, here I am!) Our son (who has cerebral palsy and some related medical issues) was granted a Wish Trip to Orlando and Give Kids the World last fall. It was a magical trip. There's a link to our pre-trip in my siggie, but no full trip report yet. It's been a difficult couple of months, and I think I am also not ready to admit the Wish Trip is over by writing that report!

Since then, we've had some challenges and I've fallen behind in my quest to be all set to run the spring season's first 10K (but it's blessedly downhill, so I should be OK!). The unspoken secret plan was to build up to a 1/2 marathon in the fall...but now I'm wondering about doing this 1/2 instead, or as well!

I'm from Canada, but I'll assume that there's a way to be associated with the team, don't know about the fundraising side of it - those who would might support me would be looking for Canadian tax receipts. I'll worry about that later as I contemplate signing on!

I don't know how many of you are familiar with GKTW. If you are not, a quick read of some of the stories of our children and their Wishes coming true will inspire you all the more.

Great idea!
Alison

I so would like to do this! Just have to figure out how to get to Orlando next January...

Yeah!! Alison! Woo Hoo! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I didn't realize you had secret aspirations of doing a half marathon. Funny how that worked out!

Dave, I have an idea...

Can we get some sort of tag or sign or something where we can run/walk in honor or in memory of someone? Would that be possible? I am sure we can do a homemade one...but I have done a few bike races where you can add an extra bit of money and walk in honor of someone and get an "official" looking sign?

Just a thought...

1/2 marathon times 2 please and Thanks! I've already got promises for 1 donation on our behalf, and if we have a little siggie/glitter type thing I'd like to know so that I can add it to some flyers that I can place at DH's work, my karate school, and send to the nursing agency that I work for!?!

Does anyone know where the 5K path goes? I have looked on the Disney Marathon site, and the only maps they show are for the 1/2 marathon and full marathon.
