Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Shawna--- If Mike likes coffee then he will like Writers stop. ::yes:: It has little chairs and books and stuff you can look at and buy -- esp if Dad needs some "down time".:lmao:

Also--- I have a very hard time with a lot of the restaurants in WDW because so many of them are buffet style- which is why we haven't ever done H&V. We are a strict no buffet family. In fact------------ staying in CL and having that food out in the open sort of gives me the heeby jeebies. If I see someone acting the fool I am going to lose it.:sick::sick:

I hear ya! I don't normally do a buffet either,...but we were feeling desperate!! LOL...I can't do Crystal Palace either! We did it once and I just can't do it again!!! If DHS had more options I wouldn't have eaten there...but you also have a fam of 5 and know how tough it can be there to find something for everyone..we ate at the Brown Derby years ago, wanted to go back, but wasn't givin' up 2 TS credits for it...sorta puts you in a bind.

Oh no. Maybe this is why my boys want a dog!
Jack is adorable, Shelly. Hope he gets the knack of outside-only pottygoing soon! I totally sympathize...we recently went though potty training with DD! You know what worked for her--we told her we weren't going back to Disneyland (Paris) until she was out of diapers. Would that work for Jack?

 It probably is why they want a dog!!

Thanks, I hope he gets the hang of things soon too. He had a good day yesterday, but a bad morning already today. :faint:

Congrats on potty training your DD!! :goodvibes Yeah, too bad I can't bribe Jack with a trip to WDW!! :rotfl:

That is hilarious! :lmao:

Well, I guess they already knew he was cute, and smart, and funny. And now they've seen that he has a soft and vulnerable side. So he's the ideal man! ;)

Yep, he's the ideal little man! :):rotfl:

Shelly--- it's a good thing you aren't bringing Jack- Jack on vacation to WDW---- the girls would never be able to contain themselves. :lmao: MC already thinks your DS12 is adorable.:goodvibes Belle would fall head over heels and we already know that can't happen---- she and your youngest are already "arranged".:rotfl2:

Yeah, I'm waiting for DS12 to ask if we can bring Jack with us so he can pick up the ladies.:laughing:

So have your told Belle about our little "arrangement"??? I told DS and he just laughed. :rotfl:

Well Jo, we will always have BRG. :goodvibes One in a row. :rotfl:

I can't believe you don't like Sci-Fi and MM!! :scared1: I think you should give Sci-Fi another try. You just need to order something different. The steak salad is awesome! The grilled chicken sandwich is very good. DH got some kind of pasta that he said was very good.

I was going to ask you how you guys were going to deal with the CL food!! :scared1:

Well since we've already chosen names for the grand babies, I figured I had to tell her. She said "Um, that's weird."

I know, right???? I think your salad at Sci Fi looks really good, minus the fries;). I think if we ever go back I'd get that for sure. It just wasn't good for us, unfortunately. :(

CL---- I dunno. I am trying not to get worked up over it.:lmao: But someone said on the GF thread that they saw a barefoot man in there getting food. And if I am remembering right--- I want to say he might not have had a proper shirt on or something? I think he was coming in from the pool. IDK. It just grosses me out to think of.

Yeah, DS looked at me like I had 3 heads and ran away laughing. :confused3 :lmao:

DH and I were just talking about that the other day. We were wondering if people just walk into the CL lounge from the pool in their swimsuits.... Is that acceptable/normal? Or are you to be fully dressed? I would be really grossed out if I saw some dude near the food with no shirt on. :scared1:

I had never thought about CL and your feelings about buffets. Yewww to the barefoot, shirtless guy. I hope he wasn't a hairy chested guy. People should know better than to do stuff like that. :sad2: How hard is it to slip on some flip flops and a t-shirt?

We love to cruise. Love it. (which, by the way, is why I am in a serious Disney funk....haven't been to a park since last April! :scared1:) BUT this is why I will always choose eating in the dining room versus the casual buffet. I realize, people, that you are hanging out at the pool all day. But please be courteous for others and put on a shirt / coverup and shoes. There are just some things I don't need to see. BLECH!!! :scared1: Nor is it sanitary to come dressed that way. Yuck!

Some people are just plain nasty!! I have to try not to think about it or else it would ruin eating out for me altogether!! :scared::rotfl:

So did anyone see this announcement about the monorail not running for PM EHM? They are talking about it on the Poly thread and everyone is MAD!!

Monorails to no longer operate during Evening Extra Magic Hours
Jul 09, 2011

Beginning on July 11 2011, the Epcot monorail service will stop operation 1 hour after regular park closing, and from August 1 2011, the Magic Kingdom monorail will stop operation 1 hour after regular park closing. This means that in both cases, the monorail will not be able to return guests back to their resorts after evening Extra Magic Hours. Guests will instead be transported by bus and boats where available. Morning Extra Magic Hour service has not been affected. All indications are that this is a permanent change.

It doesn't really affect me, we never do PM EMH. But I just wanted everyone here to be aware!

Jodi -- have you heard about this? I posted it several pages back but you weren't here. I know you guys sometimes do EMH...

Hi Shelly and Jodi!
Well, our WDW/Florida vacation has come to an end:sad2:
The crowds were insane! There were so many tour groups, they seemed to be everywhere! It was pretty hot too. However, we had a blast and cannot wait to go back. We are at the airport now:sad1:
When I get home, I will catch up on the PTR. I just wanted to pop in and say hello. By the way, welcome home Jodi!

A thought just occured to me and I have to ask. Since you guys are meeting up it only seems natural that your two families might do a lunch or dinner together. From reading it sounds like BRG might be the only place you both can agree on? Curious minds want to know...do you have any plans for a joint family meal?

The only problem I might have once DH and I find the Writers Stop is getting DH out of there. Give him a place with books and coffee and he just grows roots. :rotfl:

I'm so sad for you. I know coming home from WDW is the worst! :sad2:

I'm glad to hear you had a great time though. Can't wait to hear more! :yay:

Funny, I was just thinking about that earlier when we were talking about both liking BRG! :rotfl: As of right now we have no definite plans set. We just have a day set aside. We will be figuring out the details soon I'm sure! :goodvibes

Good morning! :goodvibes Isn't anybody up yet???

I'm headed to take a shower, run some errands, and maybe take Jack to the park for a little bit. Then I will be back to chat! But I will leave you with this --

Animal Kingdom dining.... Well along with everything else AK for me, this will be very brief.

We ate dinner at Rainforest Cafe in AK on our very first trip back in 2005. It was actually our very first Disney ADR ever! We thought it was okay. I remember it being very loud, crowded, and the food being average. Sorry, no pics.

Donald's Breakfastosauras used to be served in Restaurantosauras. I am pretty sure it was 2007 when we ate there. It was pretty much what the Tusker House breakfast is now. But Tusker House is a little bigger and there may be a few different characters. Here is the one and only picture I could find of it ~

100_1849.jpg

We had breakfast at Tusker House in January 2009. We were seated right away and had a nice time. The characters were a lot of fun. The buffet was big and most of it was very good. I do remember the eggs being a little wet, but other than that things were good. Service was kind of slow when we were paying the bill we had to wait quite some time.

Restaurantosauras used to serve McDonald's food, but now it's just Disney burgers and fries and other fast food. We had lunch there one day in 2008. We actually met up with a co-worker of DH's and his wife. We had a nice time sitting and visiting. The food was average. Sorry, no pics.

A few years ago we went to Pizzafari for lunch. I'd have to say Pizzafari is pretty much Toy Story Pizza Planet minus the arcade! The food tastes about the same. Okay. The kids and I had pizza and DH had a sandwich.

So that's our AK dining!

What's in store for AK dining this trip? Nothing!! I don't think we will be there long enough to need a meal. We may stop for a mid-morning snack somewhere though.....

Good Morning -

I am here but I did sleep in. We ate at Rainforest our first visit to AK but I think that was back in 1997 when they first opened maybe? We have done counter serves there too but I have no clue what or where and during our last trip we once again ate at Rainforest just as the park was closing. I do not recall what the other had but I ordered some type of pasta dish that had sausage in it , I think I found a whole two pieces of sausage, not impressed with my meal at all.

We either go early morning or late afternoon for a couple of hours.

I did change our schedule and put AK back on our plans for the October trip as of now , its taxi to AKL for breakfast at Boma's the either spend time at AKL to show DH around, since he has never been there, I have stayed there on my trip in 2006 with my friend. Then hit AK for a bit and have lunch at Yak & Yeti. If we do not end of going to AK we will probally head to DTD for a while instead.

Hey Shelly! I agree that AK doesn't seem to have any knockout meals (that we have tried anyway). In '08 we ate at RC, which was a really cool place but the food was just ok. In '09 we left the park and went to Boma, which was good, but you would probably think it was really odd. Not much American food there. For CS, we have eaten at Yak and Yeti and Flame Tree, neither of which we were in love with.

We might be doing Tusker House for breakfast this year. I hope it is good. I just think the characters in their safari outfits are so cute!

I'm not sure if you guys would like this or not, but I read about a snack in AK somewhere here on the DIS and wrote it in my notes. It's a jalapeno cheese stuffed pretzel. I know you guys don't like "funky" stuff so this might too out there for you, but I just kept hearing people rave about it so I jotted it down. I went back to look it up to see where you can buy them and there are actually several whole threads on them, so they must be good. Anyway, they can only be found in AK and they are in several places including right outside the safari. I think we will try one just to see what the hoopla is about!

Good Morning!:goodvibes
I woke this morning with a migraine so I've been sort of lying in bed, eating bagels (warm, with pnut butter of course;) um, not "diet" food exactly.....:lmao:) and taking Excedrin for the past two hours. Blech. I think the fogginess in my head is finally lifting.

I feel like I have so much planning left to do for the trip! It's awful. I still have scraps of paper all around, falling out of my binder. I need to pay the dang trip off and I keep putting it off. It's a room only so I can do it any time. ugh.

I feel so lazy.:headache: I can't seem to get my head wrapped around this trip. *sigh* Procrastinating at it's best, right here.

Could I have the Disney blues before I even leave??????

DH and I were just talking about that the other day. We were wondering if people just walk into the CL lounge from the pool in their swimsuits.... Is that acceptable/normal? Or are you to be fully dressed? I would be really grossed out if I saw some dude near the food with no shirt on.

Okay seriously if I see some hairy chested no shirt wearing barefoot shuffling sunscreen smelling dude strolling the breakfast buffet in search of grub I am going to lose it. And woe be unto those who dare to wear pajamas to the buffet line. That's disgusting and I certainly hope that people will show a little more class than that.
Be prepared to receive pics of the offenders.

Maybe they are proud of what they have and want every diner to appreciate it??? Because you know that nothing screams sexy like chest hair so long you can braid it.

That is truly revolting. Gag. Puke.

Some people are just plain nasty!! I have to try not to think about it or else it would ruin eating out for me altogether!! :scared::rotfl:

::yes::
Golden Corral anyone???? OMG------ I so forgot to tell you this..........
remember when Mark went to CHS for his Sis' graduation? His mom and dad made him go to Golden Corral for supper one night! :faint: The only thing he ate was steak from where the cook was grilling it. :lmao: One man brought in his own bottle of hot sauce and salad dressing. Mark said it was truly awful. This trip we passed by it (it's near the outlets :rolleyes1) and my SIL said "hey Jo you wanna go?" I almost passed out. Drew yells "I am NOT going in there, we'll catch something!!":rotfl2:

Jodi -- have you heard about this? I posted it several pages back but you weren't here. I know you guys sometimes do EMH...

Okay I did read where you posted this and then forgot about it---- but I wanted to talk about it.

I have to say I just don't really understand why they wouldn't keep the resort monorails running-- we are paying a premium for that service after all. What concerns me most isn't necessarily the EMH nights--- it's the park closing and it only running for an hour afterwards that has me worried. Because it really does take F-O-R-E-V-E-R for everyone to get loaded onto the monorail after the park is closed. An hour + at least. So what are they going to do with all of those people in line after the one hour mark? Make them go get into another line for the busses??
I think it's just another way that WDW is making cutbacks and I don't like it.

That said-----
we only took the monorail back to the Poly once last May at night from the MK. And it was right as Wishes was starting. The monorail driver went super slow and then actually stopped at one point and we were able to see the ending of it. It was really cool-- I know there had to have been a reason for him to do it , I mean , it's not like he cared if we all saw the fireworks----:rotfl:--- but it was a neat thing that happened and we felt special since as soon as it was over, he took off again.:wizard:

We found that taking the boats to the MK and back was just as good as the monorail.

I guess I'm just saying that I'm not too too worried, but we will be driving our car to Epcot at night when we go. And we only have one EMH at the MK scheduled. And it is staying open until 1 am-- so I guess we'll take the boat back.

What about you guys?????

Oh no! Your vacation is over!!!! :( I'm so sorry. I hope it was fun, even wiith all the people you had everywhere in your way. Hope you made it home safely.

Details- Schmetails.:lmao: We will be texting fools---- "Where R U?" and "On the way 2 C U." :lmao: You all know I'm a procrastinator who can't plan a dang thing to save my life!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor Shelly........ :rotfl2:
The only thing I DO know is that the meet ups are going to include dole whips................:3dglasses and maybe some food from "some"where.................popcorn::

Shelly--- great AK dining post! You have been to a lot more places than me there.
When you said the eggs were wet at Tusker House, yeah, I gagged.:sick::sick: That is such a neat atmosphere in there though. I wish it wasn't buffet b/c I might try it.

Pizzafari is on the list for us this trip, we've never been before. Belle is going to turn into a big pizza by the end of the trip.:lmao:

I'll post my AK dining soon.............

Hey---- How's the little stinker??????:lovestruc

Jo -

Sorry you woke up with a migraine that has to suck. I just have one comment about the Club Lounges, I read a few accounts on another thread the resort shall remain nameless to protect the innocent but I could not believe that people go there in their pajamas and falling open robes in the am, I know you get robes when you stay CL but I do not think this is what the intention was when given to you as a guest staying at CL.

I have also read of people stopping in after being at the pool and kids being let loose in the lounge

When we got upgraded at the YC DH and I never did go up to the lounge my two sons did but they were 15 and 25.

Just not sure how I would react if I was paying to stay CL.

Oh.......I also think that stopping the monorail service on EMH is terrible especially for anyone staying there for that convience.

When we were booked at CR, reports kept coming that the monorails were breaking down a lot, I told DH by time we get there it will not be running at all...........maybe it is a good thing we are no longer booked there I could see them shutting it down for our week. :rotfl:
