Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Very odd story indeed Jo. What in the world made him think you needed a permit to transport a dead body? I'm clueless on that one????

I have to say though that as strange as some people in the South can be, I have never met people any weirder than the ones on the streets of NYC. After a few trips there, the stuff I see around here is almost normal, even when I go to Walmart!

I've been scarce but went and read to get all caught up. Everything is looking great! Well except for Casey's being closed for refurb. I love those corn dog nuggets! Maybe they will have better seating now though?

Jo, that story is hilarious!!! I work in a town much like that, population 563. It's so strange and I cannot wait to get home at the end of each day. :scared1:

Hey Kelli! :goodvibes Summer must be keeping you very busy, we haven't seen you around here in a long time!!

That would be great if they expanded the indoor seating at Casey's! :thumbsup2

Good morning Sheila! :)

Yeah, we weren't impressed with RC at all. :confused3 I was a bit worried when we tried T-Rex in November since it is owned by the same co as RC, but it was much better! :goodvibes

You guys will have fun checking out AKL. I hope you enjoy Boma's!

If I were you I might be tempted to go to DTD instead of AK after breakfast!!

We talked earlier about maybe heading to DTD instead of AK, I do have us going to DTD on another morning for our lunch at Raglan Road, so we will see.

Little Jack-Jack is being pretty good today. He's trying to make up for peeing on DS's sleeping bag last night. :headache::scared1:

Awwwwe Jack is marking his territory, isn't that cute :lmao:

:cheer2:
Yeah! for 6 weeks! Time is just flying by! :cheer2:

OMG Jo ....that story was great. So let me get this straight now you could have killed someone and brought the body back home with you ? :rotfl:

Not sure about those Frogg Toggs, I just can not picture either you or Shelly walking around at Disney in your sundress with that about your neck :lmao:

You think they snap good? Sure the kids could have a blast with them down there

I love the story about Hell Hole too. We use to always look for towns with odd names when we would be driving in new uncharted territories, never seen that one , wish we had would have made for a great pic

Holy Moly, that is a lot of refurbs :scared1:

I hate refurbs, once it was my beloved riverboat and when we went to DL it was the railroad

well shoot...the treehouse will be closed..maybe it will def be opened by the time we are to the end of our trip...if they expand the time we will miss it

I am so behind, and I don't really know how it happened...

Okay, so I was just looking over the DHS CS menus and I think we have a winner.................

I think we are going to try Starring Rolls!

DH and I can get sandwiches. DS12 can get PB&J and DS9 can get a bagel. And then maybe we will all get some cupcakes!

I wonder if they take the DDP? We will be on it the first half of the trip and that's when we will be going to DHS. I'm not sure I even know where this place is....Is it near Brown Derby? Is there indoor seating?

Starring Rolls is on the top of my list of places to try on our next trip.

There's a whole cupcake thread, in which Starring Rolls is somewhat of a feature. I really don't know how I had never set foot in there before. I guess in the mad rush to TSMM, I never thought to go to a restaurant near the front of the park.:confused3

Epcot, continued:
World Showcase-

Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce $26.99 (I dream about the risotto….)

Thoughts: We have not been back to LC since they changed the dinners to signature dining. While I really like LC and have not had a bad experience as some others have had of late, I’m not sure I’d pay $40+ for a steak here. Especially with having such a large family to feed, and given the dining area is super small. The mushroom risotto, however, might be heaven on earth. Rating: 4 out of 5.

I dream about the risotto too! While the Filet Mignon was good...the risotto was mouth watering! To think, I almost asked them to substitute it with the mashed potatos!

Teri you are hysterical. And I'm thinking as I was reading that... wait-- are you from my hometown in SC???? Reunions?????? :lmao:
Golden Corral--- I think it's about like Ryans. Which is so not on my go to list. :snooty:

and as my eyes scan a little lower I see that it is indeed a permit.

TO TRANSPORT A DEAD BODY ACROSS STATE LINES.
Homeslice thought I had a rigor mortis body in the back of my SUV and I just casually pulled up to get some BBQ on the way back home.

Did you check your car afterward? Maybe he put the dead body somewhere, so you could transport it for him. :lmao:

As for the Animal Kingdom, we've done Tusker House and the counter service place outside Yak & Yeti. While DH makes us get his Fish & Chips every time we go to Epcot, I pretty much require a serving of the Honey Chicken at the counter service place outside Yak & Yeti. (I love it!) Oddly enough, both items are served in the adjacent Table Service place, though we haven't eaten at Yak & Yeti. At least the counter service place at AK serves other things, whereas the one at Epcot serves only Fish & Chips.
I've also gotten a Ice Cream cookie sandwich at the place outside Restaurantosaurus, but that's pretty much it. Maybe a frozen lemonade here and there.
I've though about doing the Picnic in the Park, but didn't do it. Now I'm thinking we'll make a stop at Flame Tree BBQ on our next trip for something new. When we get back from Korea, I have a feeling we'll be sick of rice, so I'd be willing to go with something more "American" in exchange for my usual indulgence.

I really wish Boma was open for lunch, because we ended up canceling our breakfast ADR there, when we stayed at AKL. I want to try it, but it is a bit complicated to get there from the park. I suppose we could try for an early morning ADR, but I dunno. I don't want to leave mid-morning to go over there. We usually leave AK by mid-afternoon, so dinner isn't really an option, unless we want to take a cab or deal with incessant transfers.

well shoot...the treehouse will be closed..maybe it will def be opened by the time we are to the end of our trip...if they expand the time we will miss it

It doesn't close until we are gone, but it will be closed for some of Jodi's trip. Hopefully it will reopen before your trip is over! :wizard:

Me too! I hope we make it in there. I'm just betting we can each find some type of cupcake we will love!! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Well Good Monday Morning to Ya!:goodvibes

I hope everyone's weekend was wonderful---- we stayed in the pool all day long both Saturday and Sunday. The heat this year is just awful. It's going to be 100+ all week with the heat index up near 110. Good grief.
Now I like heat---don't get me wrong--- anything below 70 is absolutely freezing to me, I just don't like 100.
At least I'm getting my body adjusted to being outside and ready to take on the World!

Um, Shelly--- I thought perhaps you'd like to order those Frog Toggs and sport them ala Steven Tyler.:cool2: They are just so fashionable.
C'mon you know you like to shop.:lmao:

I guess I have to post my AK dining to catch up with Shelly. She's always ahead of me, that little Proper Planning girl......:goodvibes
Okay so without further ado---

My Animal Kingdom Dining:

This one is pretty short, which is good considering how long my Epcot post was.

To begin our day in Animal Kingdom means a stop at the entrance plaza coffee stand:

Espresso, coffee and Pastry Entrance Plaza:

What we ordered:

Double Espresso $3.00
Cappuccino $4.25/$4.75/$5.25
Latte $4.25/$4.75/$5.25
Mocha $4.75/$5.25/$5.75
Flavored Latte - Vanilla, Caramel, Hazelnut, or Irish Cream $4.75/$5.25/$5.75
Hot Chocolate $3.25/$3.75/$4.25
Frozen Cappuccino $4.75/$5.25/$5.75
Fruit Smoothies $4.75/$5.25/$5.75
Bottled Water $2.50

Thoughts: Depending on the time of year we are travelling we may get frozen cappuccinos or hot coffee or Espressos. And we may get an assortment of any of the above, but we most always are double fisted walking away from there. We always go to AK when we are exhausted and need a BIG eye opener to get us primed for our ride on EE! Rating: If I could give it 25 on my ratings scale I would. Coffee is the most important meal of the day to me! ::yes:: ( Did I tell you all that Mark wanted to do GF CL simply because they have a Nespresso Espresso machine like ours at home on Club level? The stinker.:lmao:)

Flame Tree Barbeque:

What we ordered:

Smoked 1/2 Chicken - served with baked beans and corn muffin $9.49

Beef or Pork Sandwich - served with baked beans $8.49

Thoughts: We like Flame Tree a lot. The Cannibalistic birds that attack you as you eat chicken we could do without but the seating is really neat down near the water. Rating: 4 out of 5.

Yak and Yeti

What we ordered:

Thai Chili Chicken Wings - fried chicken wings tossed in a sweet Thai chili sauce, spicy Asian pickled cucumbers $8.99

Wonton Soup - pork wontons, clear chicken broth and vegetables $4.99

Crispy Honey Chicken - tempura chicken, broccoli, carrots, honey sauce $17.99

Stir-Fried Beef and Broccoli - flank steak, broccoli, brown sauce $18.49

Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork - Tempura chicken or pork, ginger, garlic, bell peppers, pineapple $17.99

Thoughts: The kids really liked the honey Chicken and I thought the Sweet and Sour Chicken was very good. The only one who didn’t love theirs was Mark and he had the Beef and Broccoli. I tasted it and it wasn’t very good- it didn’t have much of a taste other than that of salty. The Chicken Wings and soup were good. Rating: 4 out of 5.

Rainforest Café:
What we ordered:

Lava Nachos - a hot favorite - crispy tri-color tortilla chips topped with seasoned ground beef, peppers, onions black beans, corn, and queso sauce. Garnished with cheddar cheese, sour cream and pico de gallo $15.99

Jungle Chop Salad - Romaine and Iceberg lettuce, black olives, cucumbers, carrots, red cabbage, candied pecans, Blue cheese crumbles, dried cranberries, grilled chicken in a raspberry vinaigrette dressing $16.29

Mojo Bones - Slow-roasted, St. Louis style pork spareribs, basted with our Smokin' Mojo BBQ sauce and served with Safari fries and coleslaw $26.99
Half rack $21.99

Thoughts: We have eaten at RFC twice in WDW and once at DL. The one at AK was our favorite out of all of them, and it wasn’t really that wonderful. The experience of the animals is fun for kids- they get a kick out of the show. The food OTOH IMO, is not that great. It certainly isn’t terrible; it just isn’t a place that we will be clamoring to return to in the near future. Rating: 3 out of 5.

And that's it. Not a lot of places at all.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
OMG Jo!! Are you my long lost twin!!?? I too woke up with a whopper of a headache and was actually popping EXCEDRINE as I was reading that you too were on them!! LOL...Same story of the childhood town also,...in fact, it's not far from here and I never go back.NEVER. It's unreal...when I read the part about the sweet tea spilling I actually burst out into a horribly loud laugh..my kids all jumped and said "WHAT!?!"....,...but alas...my head is still throbbing...shouldn't have laughed like that...
We too have Golden Corrals in TX and Ryans...would NEVER eat here...we ate there as kids and it grosses me out now..of course, the Disney buffets are not neaaaaaarly as trashy,...I mean heck, you ARE at Disney.. And somehow I missed the thing about Shellys eggs being wet..thanks A LOT for reposting that...I thought I would puke!! You are a riot!:rotfl: But girl, seriously,...go pay for your trip!! you are making me anxious!!

Sorry I made your head hurt so bad-- are you feeling any better? Thank goodness mine went away. Don't know what the deal was with that one.
OMG! I laughed out loud at this one!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao: Your chest hairs are falling into the canapes...best...line...ever! :lmao:
I have to admit I did chuckle when I wrote that. Sometimes I shock myself with some of the things I come up with. :lmao:
Hmmm, I've never hear of that before. Maybe you have what I have.... summer blues! I know people say they get the winter blues, but I get the summer blues. Maybe that's a Southern thing since we don't have really cold winters. I am just so tired of this stifling, miserable, humidity and heat! By this time every year, I have some serious cabin fever because we just cannot get outside at all. It's even already suffocating first thing in the morning! :headache:
I get the winter blues. I hate winter. hate hate HATE it. Give me the heat-- just don't give me the cold or wet white stuff. Brrrrrrrrr!
I think my Disney blues last week were b/c I was exhausted from my trip back to SC. I feel much better this week, ready to plan! :goodvibes

???? Not sure- but if you need a dead body transported let me know.:lmao: The permit was lying next to my car. I think someone from the funeral home down the street had been noshing at the BBq joint and it had fallen out of his dead body mobile when he stopped. I just can't get that image out of my head though--- him saying to a fellow worker with him--- "Oh wow- did you get the pulled pork, it's to DIE for.... speaking of that, we'd better hurry up we gotta get Henry to the cooler before he gets too stiff.":confused3

I've been scarce but went and read to get all caught up. Everything is looking great! Well except for Casey's being closed for refurb. I love those corn dog nuggets! Maybe they will have better seating now though?

Hey- glad you're back! Small towns--- the backbone of America.:lmao:
Awwwwe Jack is marking his territory, isn't that cute :lmao:

um, well in light of the current situation, Shelly.... Sheila can have the little squirt if you need to get rid of him.:goodvibes
OMG Jo ....that story was great. So let me get this straight now you could have killed someone and brought the body back home with you ? :rotfl:

I can't see us in Frogg Toggs either. That's why I posted them.:rotfl2:
I hate refurbs-- as long as it isn't the HUGE rides, we're okay.
I am so behind, and I don't really know how it happened...

I loved the risotto so much I came home and found a recipe for Portobello Mushroom Risotto. Yeah it's yummy. Fattening but so good. I could just eat that at LC and nothing else.:lmao:

Good morning Jodi! :)

Great AK dining post! Looks like yo have a little more experience there than me. I still can't believe you ate at a place with the word Yak in the title. :lmao: But actually that honey chicken sounds pretty good!

I agree, Rainforest Cafe is nothing great. T-Rex is much better!! You guys should try it sometime!

Well Good Monday Morning to Ya!:goodvibes

I guess you will be all ready for the WDW heat!!

Holy canoli that's a lot of closures!!!

I know, right?! :scared1: What the heck is up with that???

I'm telling myself that there are so many because it's a VERY slow time of year. ::yes:: :rotfl:

Shelly....look at your ticker!!!!1-1-1!!!!! How cool is that?!! It's almost here!!...gotta question...are you 2 gonna post/report from DW or make us wait till y'all get home?
jo...yeah...headaches gone, but it was hanging around most of the day...just a dull little throb, but just enough to be there....I think it was the weather...and Praise the Lord...we got more rain coming this week!!! We still need all we can get, water tables are low.

Good morning Jodi! :)

TRex sounds a lot better to me than RFC but I don't think it will be on the list this year.
Yak.
:lmao:
funny stuff.

Holy Crap -- 100+ degrees. :faint: And I thought it was hot here at around 90 this weekend!!

You know you want to come see me and hang out in this lovely heat. :headache:
We could, um, shop.

Yeah Shelly check out your ticker! Guess what else--- you get to say "Next month I'll be in Disney World!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Squeeeeeeeeee!

Shawna--- glad your head is better. I pulled a neck muscle over the weekend arm wrestling Mark. :rotfl2: I was so sure I could take him!!!:rotfl2: So I'm still taking Excedrin. At least I'll have some energy to burn with all of that caffeine in it!:lmao:

As far as posting from WDW-- I'll have my Iphone with me so I can post a few updates but I'm not taking my computer so the big stuff will have to wait. I'll probably give you guys brief updates of what Shelly's doing as she updates me before I leave for my trip and she'll probably do the same as soon as she gets home and I'm still there. Although it will be sad for her, b/c her trip will be all over. :( waaaaah!

Guess what I got in the mail Friday???

Tickets to the Football game we are going to on that Saturday!!
