Who's going 8/2/03 Western cruise?

Hi Beth,

Wow, you received your documents. That's great! Now you know the cruise is right around the corner.

Hello Rae,

Please add the following for the brunch.
Jackie, William and my sister Janine.

The thought of brunch makes me hungry. Speaking of food, why isn't grits served onboard? Personally, I'm looking forward to the escargot.

Will add you to the brunch - but you will still have to be there to make the reservation at Embarkation. Okay?

Also, grits? Is that a food?! Obviously, I'm not a Southerner!
I don't know if it's served or not - since I do farina in the winter.

The snails are wonderful - love them and LOVE to harass my family with my imitation of their moving feelers!
They are always VERY HOT though so don't burn your mouth.
Best thing is that you can ask for more than one appetizer, that means two orders of escargot!

I'd rather eat appetizers than entrees and I'm not a dessert person.

It's coming up so soon!

Has anyone started packing? I did get our luggage out of the attic and it's sitting here looking at me! Sort of reminds me of my appetite saying "Fill me up!"

Better run -

Rae

Hi Rae,

My husband and I are both from NY but my 2 girls were born in Atlanta.

My oldest love grits. Our 1st cruise both girls ate chicken fingers and fries for dinner the entire 7 day trip. When we took our 2nd cruise, our servers were so wonderful. They worked with the children on different menus making suggestions and changes.

And yes, we always request 2 orders of escargot.

I'm not big on desserts either but I love my mochas. Will there be a Starbucks onboard soon? That would make my trip complete.

Jackie

My uncles and their children moved to Atlanta from New York back in the late 1980's. What's the pull?! Been through there but never had the time to stop -

Michael likes to order the appetizers and that's pretty much his meal - he isn't a dessert eater and sometimes will get an entree, but not too often.

There was a wonderful non-alcoholic Kahlua cold coffee drink that I can no longer find in the stores. I liked it, now it's gone, go figure!

Going to get my "horse on the beach" fix tomorrow when Michael and I have our day to watch a movie together - The Black Stallion.
We had this excursion scheduled last September but Hurricane Lili diverted us - so we are really hoping to get to Grand Cayman this time around - if not, well, just another delay and a great adventure.

The Atlantic seems pretty quiet lately.......let's all knock on wood!

Rae

It seems the older I get, the more I couldn't deal with the cold weather. My husband and I moved from NY and lived in Edison, NJ for 8 years before moving to Atlanta. Just need a warmer climate.

The Atlantic has been suprisingly quiet lately. Hopefully, it'll stay that way and you'll have that ride on the beach. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

It's so hard to start packing. I usually start one week before departure. Bringing extra hangers from home helps alot. It cuts down on the ironing.

Counting down.

Jackie

:D

That's why my uncles and their children moved down - those cold NY winters. Personally, I miss them very much but then again, that was 20 years ago.......and I was younger so even though I am very homesick, I don't know if I could get used to it all over again.

My luggage is still "talking" to me.

Rae

Yes ours arrived yesterday. Sat watching t.v. last night filling them out. Would never want to be doing that in line.

OHHHH, so you read about my Mom's impatience and our frustration in another thread about the LARGE family that did that, huh?! You have no idea how long 30 minutes behind two people who are looking for about 10 others can be! Considering they were CC members - it was definitely uncalled for.

Yes, please fill the docs out at home and have everyone in your party at the check in counter since it DOES matter that everyone is present and can be verified with their photo ID.

Rae

Thanks for the tip Rae, this is our first cruise post 9-11. The boys are usually elsewhere when I check-in.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PLEASE tell me by July 4 if you will be joining us for brunch on Sunday (Key West day) at 10AM at Palo. If you want to join us as a group sitting together I need to have at least your name and stateroom number - this can be sent as a PM to me.

This will be the only and last announcement before I get the list together.

So far it's BethA, jazzbran (3) and rae519 (2).

Rae

Hi Rae,

Are you having the champagne brunch Sunday at 10 am (Key West Day) or Monday at 10 am (1st day at sea)?

Jackie

BRUNCH - Sunday at Key West 10AM -
That will give us enough time to enjoy our meal and by the time we are finished, we can just walk off the ship!

Brunch is truly a great meal at Palo - I could live on the appetizer table alone!

Rae

count myself and DH in for brunch... carol and dennis... can't wait!!! see u all real soon!!!! :)

Got you down Carole!

So far brunch is:

blue eyz235 (2)
jazzbran (3)
rae519 (2)
and Beth A (?#)

Sounds like a nice start!

Rae

DOCUMENTS?????????????

you are receiving documents??????????

crying here........i need mine.....i need to know this is coming......i need my disney magic...........

can't wait to meet everyone on board!!!!! I'll be in the wheelchair with some really lime green stuff on my cast!!

michele

Michelle - you will be much easier to find that the rest of us!

BY THE WAY, there is a different method of doing your mustering - I was told by another W/C bound person that you can request that you receive a private mustering session - so you will attend but not like we do (a herd of cattle). IF you are not approached about this, talk to Guest Services - Rico is the best Guest Services rep on the ship now that Yoko is gone!

No docs for me either - we are DVC points users this time and notoriously get ours 2 weeks before cruising. For once in my life I refuse to stress out about this!!!!!

Rae

still no docs here....maybe Monday!!

Well, Michael and I now have "SOMETHING" to keep our minds off the length of the next five weeks......we bought a 6 year old sorrel quarter horse gelding yesterday!

We started calling him "Red" and Michael polished it a little and he's now "Red Raptor". Great animal, very gentle, loving and an excellent ride for Michael.

Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time at the stable now!! Bring on the carrots and pooper scooper!
