Who's already planning for 2017 or 2018

I am obviously a Disney freak :) and even though I am not going to be able to afford to go back to my Happy Place until sometime in 2017 or 2018 that doesn't stop me from thinking about when to go, where we will stay, what extras we will budget for, etc.

So I figure there are probably other people out there like me so this is the thread for all of us that have the long wait till we can go back again.

You can come here and talk about all the ideas you have for your next trip to Disney.

Who's with me??!! :goodvibes
Im with you, since I started planning for Jan 2017,4 months ago, I started researching so many different options-looking at point rentals, ended up making an offer on a resale DVC, so now I'm planning 2017 and 2018!

How cool is that! You actually got to experience WDW as a CM and go behind the scenes! I would love to see the inner workings of Disney sometime. The closest I will probably ever get to that is watching the documentaries about the parks.

Wonderful how you and your fiance met at the UK pavilion. So, did you two work together?

Yes we worked in the Yorkshire Chip shop in Epcot.

Also worked on beer cart too

*raises hand* I sort of am! We're taking our first Universal trip in April (YDS is Harry Potter mad! OK, so am I...), but I feel like I'm cheating on Disney. :) So I've started looking ahead, too.

We've been trying to get my parents to Disney with their grandsons for years, and I think it's finally going to happen next November. We hope to go over older son's 13th birthday, which is in early November. (I can't believe I'm old enough to have an almost-13-year-old.)

We hope to dine at Chef Mickey's on the day itself ... ODS has special needs, and is still utterly charmed by the characters. (Whereas his brother was humoring us with them at age 4. :) ) He loves Goofy! I hope we can work something special out. We've never been for a special event before. (Uh, except our honeymoon.)

I think we will stay in a family suite at AoA again, and my folks will stay across the water at Pop Century. They don't care about the Little Mermaid rooms. ;)

Planning our honeymoon for October of 2017! Hoping to rent points and stay at BWV, or AKL. Also considering staying at CS. Anyone have an opinion on those 3 as to which would be best for a honeymoon?

We stayed at AKL for our honeymoon back in 2002 and loved it!

:welcome: Jays2013!

It is nice to have you join us. My DD and your oldest son are close in age. My daughter will turn 13 in March of this year. On our last trip two years ago she still enjoyed meeting the characters and princesses. Chef Mickey's for a birthday celebration will be perfect!

The family suites at AoA would be great. Do your kids have a preference in which one you pick? I think the Little Mermaid rooms look nice too. I am a bit surprised that the grandparents are thinking about staying at POP instead of Little Mermaid which would be closer to you. But, at least POP is close by.

To be fair, that was just my speculation. They might want the Little Mermaid rooms! I thought they might like a little bit of distance, too. They haven't been on a vacation together in a very long time, either. ;) (This will be the year of their 47th wedding anniversary.)

We've stayed at AoA before (Nemo suite) and loved it. It's nice to have a bit of extra space. I suspect the kids would pick the same section again, but we'll see.

Settled on dates for 2017: early June! Now I just have to get the ball rolling with our TA!

Early June is when I am tentatively planning my trip too. If I have to go in the summer, which I do, then early summer is better for us. Plus, the weather seems just a bit more manageable than mid to late summer.

My daughter will be a freshman in high school in 2017 and the band goes on a trip every other year, so that would be her freshman trip. I am hoping they go back to Disney! If the band does go back to WDW, then I will adjust my dates to follow suite and be there when she is. But not as a chaperone! No thanks! I will let someone else take on that role!

My son's band marched in the MK in 2014, and my daughter and I went ahead and spent some time there before the band arrived. My hubby joined us the same time the band did.

I am trying to add another quote but it won't let me.

So, Jays2013, have you thought about how you will celebrate your parents 47th anniversary while at Disney? Or I guess the trip will be one big celebration for your family.

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! I don't blame you for not chaperoning. Ha!

Our 2014 trip was the second week of June and it got a little hot, but it really was manageable. We'd talked about doing a spring break trip for 2017, but I think managing childcare will be easier once school lets out (it's only me and my oldest going, this time) and this way she gets to celebrate her high school graduation and not worry about schoolwork waiting for her when she gets back.

We have went in late September the past two years but decided to skip this year and go early June 2017. It's getting too hard to take my oldest child out of school in September, she will be in 6th this fall. So I just come on here and read all the posts of everyone going soon or there now and dream!! Plus I'm thinking this gives us more time to save and maybe upgrade next time. Stayed at CBR in '14 and AoA in '15. Loved both really but may want to try somewhere different next. Actually watching Modern Marvels on TV right about how they built Disney World and it only makes me want to go more!!!!

We booked yesterday for February 2017. Woohoo! I didn't plan on going back any time soon but yay.

I agree with you, waiting until after your daughter's graduation to go is a good plan. Senior year is filled with so many added activities that she might miss if you went during the school year. Also, she can really relax and not worry about the schoolwork. It will be a fun way to celebrate her achievement and a trip she will remember for years to come. :rockband:

So, are you thinking about staying at a different mod or something else. I have stayed at three of the four mods. I like that the rooms are a bit bigger than the values and my kids like the slides at the pools. And the price works for us, so right now I am planning on staying in a mod again. I am leaning towards PORFQ again. I have enjoyed each of the mods that I have stayed at and love the theme of each one but the size of PORFQ is what is drawing me to it again. After a long day at the park it is nice to have a shorter distance to and from the bus and the food court. I, too like to watch all the Disney Park shows on TV and dream. When my DD was little, we bought the Sing-along DVDs that are filmed in the different parks. We still on occasion pull one out and watch just to get a Disney fix.

:welcome:5kidsmommy! :butterflyCool that you are now officially booked for Feb. 2017. Where will you be staying?

We will be staying at Fort Wilderness. It's our favorite place to camp and the location cannot be beat. I'm so excited. We haven't been to the Fort since January 2014.

Oh, Fort Wilderness! It just looks like so much fun! I think that would be a dream WDW vaction, especially if I could extend our time at WDW for two weeks. Then I could do all the things I want in the park as well as lots of time at FW to just hang out, swim, ride bikes on the trails, horseback ride, and the fireside sing-along with Chip and Dale! :dogdance:

It is just when I only get to go to WDW every four years or so and only for 4 to 8 days (the most I've staved at WDW) time just gets away from you and you can't do it all in one trip.

Today has be quite the stressful morning at work today. I just had to jump on the Disboards to put in back in my happy place if only through our conversations with each other. Thanks Everyone!

I would love to stay POR but not sure about doing two rooms vs suite at AoA. We need that extra space!!!

We will be going early June as soon as school ends. This will be a big family trip. I will start planning trip after I get back from quick solo trip in April. I would like to stay at AoA but I am wondering if a room discount comes out are these rooms excluded? We usually stay at POP but my kids have asked to stay at new resort.

Yes! She's super-excited about it now that she's been back; she's started making lists of things she wasn't able to try this past week so we can attempt them next year! We ate at Whispering Canyon this trip and even with all the construction she fell in love with WL, so I think that's where we're booking.

For the big family trip in '18 my youngest (age 6) wants to stay at WL and eat at Whispering Canyon "every day! And we can stay for ten days! Or eleven! OR TWELVE!"

...dream big, kid. Dream big.
