Who Wants To Try a DIS-Meet At Gulf State Park In May-June 2016?

I forgot to add that I got a new puzzle that I want to put together on this vacation.

For those that read my posts in on the March 2016 trip report, I showed that I had brought a puzzle to work which I planned to put together over several days. However, DD who is very Type A finished it while I was at the stupid grocery store. That took all the fun out of that episode.

So I have a new puzzle to work on - the same number of pieces and relative size. So I am going to put it together during my stay at GSP and will make it last several days since DD will not be there.

And if I catch ANYbody under my tent in the early morning trying to put pieces together and advance its completion, I'm coming out with guns blazing and the nuclear option. So don't even THINK about doing it, dammit.

Glad you folks all made it safely. It's kinda weary getting all this done up here. But I will make it down on Tuesday.

Wow. It's hot here! Actually it's typical STL summer weather, but we haven't had any hot weather yet at home.

Had a great welcome from Michael and Randy. I saw the 2 trucks in the road and said to DW, I guess that's our site. A few hand shakes later, I asked which truck I should hit first when I tried to back in and suddenly I see keys in hands and the trucks were gone. I actually had a really easy site to get into... Except it's not at all level. I thought someone said the place had great and LEVEL sites. :D I haven't checked out the rest of the park yet, but my row looks pretty nice.

I think we are going to head to the beach. We didn't drive 800 miles to look at trees and campers.

So Randy, Joe, and Jim, sounds like we have some middle of the night projects being lined up.

PS - Pls have mercy. It sprang to my mind and it was too good to pass up.

I put an immediate end to the mosquitoes and yellow fly problem.

Thank goodness for the Gulf Shores FD. Man, those boys are qquuuiiiccckkkk! If it would have taken them another 5 minutes the chicken may have been ruined.

Thanks to Joe for the dinner rolls and mac and cheese. Randy whipped up some fine hamburger meat and beans.

Oh, and thanks to Randy for the Fort Wilderness music playing as we eat.

Glad to hear that attendees are arriving safe and sound and surviving dinner.
Got a little concerned you all may have gotten lost and ended up here in Delaware. My work Partner got page from his Jolley Volley FD for an ambulance call at local CG. Some one at Camp Store suffered a severe electrical shock

No electric shock here.

Now, terror shock, well, that's a different story.

Enjoying the great pictures & wishing we could be among y'all. Have fun & be safe Bama Ed on your travels. Food looked delicious
Grumpy is not writing this Friend of Eeyore is. Grumpy has gone night night. Stormy outside & I don't sleep too well in storms.
Happy Memorial week-end to all & remember our Military!

Awe man,

We decided to go to the beach and then take a little drive. Got hung up in traffic in Perdido and figured we missed everything. We stopped in a little place in Orange Beach to grap something to eat. When we got back the festivities were still going on. Apparently I missed the FD activities. I did hear the sirens. I should have expected it was the group back at GSP.

For the record, Jim, the water temp at the monitoring buoy at Perdido Pass (the big bridge on the Beach Hwy in Orange Beach) got as high as 80.6F yesterday.

Hope you find that acceptable. It is only May after all.

PS - see you Tuesday.

PPS - MAN ya'll got big trailers.

We put our feet in the water when we went to the beach. It was a little chilly, but we'll suffer through it today. 8-)

80 in the pool at home is just starting to get comfortable. 84, much nicer.

Got up for my morning run. Glad I went early the last four miles were hot, but I was also trying to crank negative splits (was successful). The dogs are still wiped out from all the fun yesterday. Think we are going to take advantage and get a ride in, want to check everything out. Then later to lake Shelby for me to practice some swimming.

Went to find a neat beach wagon that Michael bought. Sadly DW found the outlet mall.

This is seriously cutting into my beach time.

Well folks, newest development is Randy got in trouble for feeding the wildlife. As we were cleaning up after the crawfish boil Randy noticed a large field mouse around the edges of the campsite. Randy tossed it one of the potatoes, which, I might add, were very seasoned. The neighbors called the police when they thought a child was screaming. Turns out it was the mouse frantically trying to find some water. Poor thing, it was quickly found and eaten by a hawk, which burst into flames, and landed in the lake.

Just sad, I told them they should bust him for animal cruelty as well.

Seriously, food was great. Did some beach walking and she'll gathering. Joe, his daughter, and me and my family went bike riding around on some trails. I'll get you guys some pictures tomorro.

Well I'm out on bond this moring, haha.

Went and made a loop around Ed's site on down some bike trails, now I'm watch Michael whip up a waffle house breakfast, pancakes, ham and eggs. We're planning our welcome party for Ed's arrival in the morning...

Well,

We got DD moved into her dorm room for the summer yesterday. For me and DW, it was a happy/sad time.

See you Gulf folks tomorrow.
