Now headed to the outlet malls (where I LOVE to shop with my beautiful wife). Randy & Joe's sites are wide open.

Bishop, sorry to hear you won't be able to stay the week but hopefully it'll work out where you can come visit.

Aight, so I am currently at Tanger Outlet in Foley walking and carrying bags. My wife is in her element.

Few things to update on. Lot of construction going on around GSP. They have widened the entrance road into the campground by another lane so it is plenty roomy. The green box trash bins are no longer there (used to be about 12 of them for you to toss your trash bags in). Now there is just one large trash container (the roll-back kind).

I'm not so sure i like road #2 being closed. Coming in the traffic was backed up on 135 since everyone has to go that way and making the right turn into thee campground entrance took a bit since it is still only 2 lanes there and you have to wait for the outgoing traffic to clear to turn in. Little annoying things but all part of progress I guess.

Also they have begun work at the soon to be rebuilt convention center.

Now, the quick check-in. Really simple, pulled up to two ladies sitting under an umbrella. Gave them my last name, handed me a packet, in i went. Never got out of the truck. Very easy. Also, for those of you familiar with coming and going at the front office. The lane that you used to drive back in (just to right of front office) is closed off with barriers and marking ribbon.

P.S.
Pray for me...

Sounds all good Michael. Hope you survive the outlet mall with a dollar or two left. Randy along with his friend and I are meeting near my house at 0915 and convoying to the park. We'll roll into the campgrounds around 1030 or so. Thanks for checking our sites. It's great to know they are clear and check in will be a breeze. Bishoparc I hope you can at least swing over for the Friday evening meet and greet. If not we will miss meeting you and the Misses. Truck is fueled and hooked up. The bikes and grill are loaded now we have to move half the house into our home on wheels. I'm ready to relax and meet some exciting new Disney friends. See ya all real soon.

I'm forgetting my manners. I'm supposed to post meal pictures. After the forced marching today I was near starved...so you get an after picture instead.

Well, I got a little money left. Gonna go get a shower and go to bed so I can get up and do some early morning bike riding.

I'm on vacation!!! Thought I'd have a nice day at work until I got an email around 0900 demanding to have some data for a submission needed on June 1st. They felt the need to cc my boss and another VP. Apparently the requester just found out I was on vacation starting tomorrow and, as usual, was waiting until the last minute to ask for something. That took until 1645 to wrap up.
Been grocery shopping tonight, loaded all the food into the camper and mounted a new towel rack in the bathroom. Still need to put clothes in and put the TV in DS' room.
DW has to work from home tomorrow. A conference call, interview and some other things that will take until about 2. I plan on getting on the road between 2-3. Trying to plan around Nashville rush hour on a holiday weekend Friday. We'll be overnighting outside Huntsville, then down to GSP on Saturday.

Have fun everybody. Clear out the traffic for me and we'll see you Saturday afternoon.

Just finished washing my truck, washings a black truck in the dark isn't fun, guess I'll wait til daylight to see how many holidays I left.

Drying clothes to load up in the camper, everything else is loaded ready to go. Just have to loaded the ice chest up and hitch up. Looking forward to meeting Joe in the morning, and convoying over to GSP,

Bishop, sorry to hear you won't make it over with the camper, still hope to meet yall Friday night.

Just finished washing my truck
I was going to try to do that too. Rained Tuesday, had some pretty good storms come through yesterday, this morning, just now and it's supposed to be raining until early afternoon. So you all get to see a dirty truck all week. I did vacuum it out yesterday.

My DD graduated from high school tonight and walked across the stage.
Congrats to her. DS has one more year.

Congratulations to her Ed, you know you are proud,

Jim, they have one of those "do it yourself" car washes 5 minutes from the campground on Hwy 59, I'll double check today when I pass by but I'm pretty sure it's "dually approved". :thumbsup2

Car wash is located just outside GSP. I use it each year after I arrive. I can get you directed to it if you need me to.

Ed, tell her we are proud of her and hate we won't get to see her this year.

Well, been out cycling this morning and checking some sites. Currently Teamubr site is occupied by an Allegro Bus and a nice couple from Kentucky. Garneska's site is being used by tent campers currently and Ed's site is occupied by a Grey Wolf camper from Louisiana.

Getting my site set up so I'll be ready for SouthAlabama5er's show here around 1030. From my site I have a great view.

Dixie is awaiting his arrival as well.

Thanks Randy,

If it still looks rain free for awhile after I arrive, I'll probably do that. The poor truck hasn't been washed since last fall.

We are going to miss Ed's daughter??! My son will be disappointed. :-)

Michael,
Is my site on the left in the pic with a motorhome on it? I may be in a little trouble with the new 5er. Attached to the truck, I'm exactly 60 ft long. If I want to park the truck in front unhitched, I need closer to 70. I usually just push the trailer wheels all the way back to the edge of the pad, but those trees won't let me do that. At least there are plenty of friends around that will let me park my truck on their sites. :duck:

j

Jim, Gulf is pretty loose about parking around your site as long as it's one vehicle.

You don't HAVE to back in - in front of the trailer. You can "pull across" the driveway/site and they usually don't say anything. They aren't Disney...

Thanks Ed,

I don't like to be one of "those" people that park across the site and stick into the road. This truck is just BIG.

Also, my niece and her fiance are coming down on Monday. (They have never seen the ocean) They are bringing one of my other cars (they didn't think theirs would make it.) How are they about 2 cars on a site? Or is there an overflow parking lot close?

Michael,

I just realized I'm next to you and not across. Another look at Google Earth and I should have enough room to hang the back over the end of the pad.

And the pads look really wide at the back.

Leaving in about 2 hours. I'll check in when we get to Athens for the night.

j

Your sites open now Jim. You'll have plenty of space to back in.

Randy and Joe have made it in safe. Only took Randy 3 tries to get on his site. Nah, just kidding. He pulled it off like a pro.

I've been approached by two couples across from us. They camp at Fort Wilderness yearly and were looking for some instructions for a Mickey lamp. Turns out they only live about 30 minutes from me.

Jim, no worries with your site, I could fit my 43' 5er with no problems, and there is pently of grass to park your dually, it's all good here in the trailer hood.

Oh BTW Teamubr, we'll need a good ETA so we can be waiting and watching, already have the popcorn on stand by,popcorn::
