Who Uses The Valet Parking Perk?

Better crack the books Mel,there will be a quiz later on.:p

Dan, that is not your real Membership card under you name is it?

If so what week do we all want to book a GV in Dan's name. :smooth:

If the valet attendant is doing his or her job, they will remove the tage before bringing you the car. This will insure that you cannot use it at the other resorts that require you to pay. If you are told by the attendant that you can use it wherever then they are probably new and haven't been properly briefed. Take your gift and drive away. You can bet that the next time, that person will know better.

If something is causing Disney lost revenue you can believe they will respond.

What I don't understand, and I admit lately it seems according to some on these forums, I understand little, so bear with me.

I can't speak for Disney or anyone else, but I think the ball is in Disney's court. If one gets a valety pass appropriately at BCV and the GF doesn't try to charge them, I don't think they should jump out and insist on paying. Disney sets the rules in this area and we will try to abide by the ones they set up. If they allow true loopholes like giving a full valet pass that one can use everywhere, that' their problem/prerogative.

I would have a different view of one who insists on a valey pass for the purpose of bypassing the rules in place.

It is lost revenue because they are paying for the CM to do the valet parking plus some would park no matter what, but the decision is Disney's at this point.

That's my point exactly. I just have no time for the blow-hards on this board who claim it is "exactly the way they say it is because it is in the written rules, but more importantly, because THEY say so". Those people annoy me, & I do what I can to point out their foolishness & annoy them....apparently it works. But I do so in a satirical manner, in a hope of making their foolishness apparent to them. But, as a literature teacher, I realize the problem with satire. Often, you are either preaching the choir, or it goes over the head of the offending party.
With Disney and DVC there are usually two answers. The actual rules and how they are put into action. Disney and DVC are both inconsistent in the implementation of many rules. It's important for members to understand both sides as they are both important. If you are pointing out the inconsitencies so that members have this info, I have no problem. If you are suggesting members should intentionally break the rules because they can get around it if they try, I am insulted and would think little of anyone making that type of suggestion.

For those complaining that you should pay when you are supposed to, and not use the free valet ticket given earlier, I ask: how many of you who are of the above position use the valet service at BW and BCV then walk through the hotel to walk to Epcot or MGM? That's not the intent of the parking there. I assume you know that. So, you park in the guest lots then, right? You are only using the parking at the hotels to go to the restaurants at the resorts. Just so we are clear on that.

I agree Dean!

We use the Valet everywhere we can on WDW property. We're on vacation and the last thing we want to do is search for a parking space - I do that daily at work and the grocery store.

I pay for the service where I have to and I take advantage of the perk when I can as well.

I think that was the OP's original question.

OK then, what is the "intent" of this parking perk?

Now I know what the rules say but I expect it should either be that you get free valet service at the resort your staying at and that's all or you get it free at all the deluxes. I just don't see where it makes sense for free valet service at only certain resorts.

Do you think it's because our DVC buy-in (and maintenence) subsidizes the cost of the valet service at BWV, VWL and BCV and not the others?

Agreed. If Disney gives you the valet tag for all day parking at all resorts then use it.

As I stated earlier we have always been ask to pay for valet parking at nonDVC resorts. The main problem is there is no consistency at Disney with rules and guidelines. You will drive to the Grand Floridian and be asked to pay and drive to the Contemporary and they won't. I guess the place is just too big and coordinating 55,000 employees to be on the same page is just too much for them.

I believe Dean pointed it out. :)

You probably meant the same thing, it just never seems to come across that way. Something about delivery I guess. ;)

Maybe now that we know you are a teacher, that explains it.

Now now, kids! Behave yourselves!:jester:

We do not ever use valet parking. Even when we go to the DVC resorts that offer it to go to a dinner reservation, we self park. DH just HATES to leave his car at ANY valet parking! It has nothing to do with the money either.

My DH is the same way!! I used to think it was just because he was extra careful with his cars, but this happens on vacation with rental cars! I think he needs to know where the car is at any given time and have nothing getting in his way of getting to it. This goes along with our requiring to have a rental car at Disney even though we might not really need it.

Can't say I blame your DH. If you ever watch the way they drive it's understandable. :earseek:
