Who Uses The Valet Parking Perk?

It kind of looks like someone got the wrong tag and took advantage of it.

For those of you that do use valet parking, what is the typical amount for a tip?

We were charged for valet at GF, too. But this whole free valet parking at BCV, WLV and BWV is totally new news to me.

Unless you just became a member in the last week or so, you really should have read through your member handbook. The parking perk is one of the first things I noticed. Also, I believe all of the members only perks and advantages are listed on the website. Parking is one of the most advantageous perks in my book.

No,he didn't.There is only one tag.DVC members and cash guests get the same valet tag.FWIW,I have been told the same thing as wdwdvcdad by valets every time I have parked at the BW,"This valet tag is good at all WDW resorts for the rest of today". Who is going to insist on paying when no one is asking for it?

Well, I'm sure it is in there but I have yet to memorize the handbook. Phew! I hope you weren't insulting me with that comment!

YIKES!

If something is causing Disney lost revenue you can believe they will respond.

What I don't understand, and I admit lately it seems according to some on these forums, I understand little, so bear with me.

Why do some have to just constantly push the envelope and try to constantly find a loophole in everything that Disney has guidelines for. Do they only do this at Disney, or do they do it everyday. Do they find an item on the Sale rack that someone placed there and then demand at the checkout to be given the discount even thought the item is not on sale.

I am sure when Disney set up the signs for the Pools and stated the pool was for the use of the guests of that resort they intended for people to adhere to that. When they published in the DVC guidebook the rules for the DVC use of valet parking, it was pretty clear what they meant.

Are some just challenged when it comes to written rules, or do they just have no respect for adhering to rules that are not forced on them physically.

It's a shame and it makes it unpleasant for everyone for Disney to have to take a strong hand approach to enforcing the rules of common deceny. Many will suffer for the shortcomings of the few.

Are people so cheap that $6 bucks a day is that big a deal. I was raised to pay for what I use and abide by written rules.

If I had to worry about $6 a day to valet park at a nonDVC resort, $12 for a mug I can use unlimited during my stay and wanting to swim at a pool I did not pay for, well I would rather stay at home. I truely could not be happy doing any of this.

Disclaimer: None of this makes me an unhappy person nor does it effect my vacation time, it's just one of those things like lost socks in the dryer, I just do not comprehend. It completely boggles my mind.

In defense of not paying for the valet at other resorts, I don't believe that it is a case of lost revenue for Disney. If I had to pay for the parking I would self-park. If you think about it you are actually helping Disney in that the guys who do the parking are making more money due to the perk which keeps them happy with their jobs.

That being said, if asked to pay for the parking at a non-DVC resort I would pay. If, however, they assume that I have already paid for parking or allow me to park without paying because of the stub I will gladly accept that benefit.

Oh and for those of you who did not realize that valet parking is free for DVC members, it is free whether you are staying on points or not or offsite as well. Just show them your membership card.

Good point. ::yes::

What are these "tags" everyone is talking about? We valet park at BWV all the time and we have never gotten a tag. We just have the parking permit in the dashboard window that says DVC Member, but have never gotten a "tag". We do get a little receipt with a number on it when we leave the car, but we give this back to the CM when we go to pick up the car again. We have never gotten any tags.

The tag is when you use the valet parking, it's a different color for each day of the week. It will entitle you to receive free valet parking at any resort for that day only.

We use the free valet parking all the time. We get the "tag" sometimes and sometimes we don't. If I recall correctly, when we have been at a resort for several days and continue to valet park, they will put the tag in our car.

We were just in Orlando last week for the AAU Girls Basketball Nationals and went out to Beach Club to take DD to Beaches and Cream. We showed our DVC Membership card and we received free valet service. The weather is pretty iffy so we used it. My DH tipped the guy very nicely. We love this one peck and we use it.::yes::

This is a DVC perk and should not be a problem. We have used it for resort restaurants and shopping. Security will normally wave us thru without question.
Will guess some use it for pool hopping.

That's my point exactly. I just have no time for the blow-hards on this board who claim it is "exactly the way they say it is because it is in the written rules, but more importantly, because THEY say so". Those people annoy me, & I do what I can to point out their foolishness & annoy them....apparently it works. But I do so in a satirical manner, in a hope of making their foolishness apparent to them. But, as a literature teacher, I realize the problem with satire. Often, you are either preaching the choir, or it goes over the head of the offending party.

...is that people need a sense of irony and humor to appreciate it.

As for the policy, I think it's inconsistant to allow pool hopping to practically all the resorts but not valet service. I'd say Disney has more to gain as a business with more liberal parking benefits. Personally, I think it would promote more upscale dinning from DVCers (rather than eating in their own very nice kitchens).

It's that 6 bucks that makes it possible to have that vacation.:jester: :teeth: ::yes::

Yeah because alot of DVCers are always eating in because they might have to pay 6 bucks to park..

Or at times it appears to be a case of the "kettle calling the pot black " ;) You seem to get very worried about what worries others. Is that not the same thing.

Simply a matter of one's perspective. ::yes::

And Dad, you don't annoy me, actually I like to read your comments, I don't agree, but I do find them entertaining.

I don't let it up upset me if anyone follows the rules, that is thier business. I definitely do not spend any time worrying about it while on vacation. It is Disney's choice to enforce them. If I have a problem with Disney enforcing their rules, I will take that up with Disney.

I do find it very interesting some will try to convince you the written rules do not even exist.
