Who Uses The Valet Parking Perk?

Wouldn't there be something on the tag to identify it is a DVC tag and would not be honored at non DVC resorts??

When we valeted at BCV last time we had no problem re-parking for free at AKL, GF and CR. We were staying on cash though so maybe there is a different pass they give to DVC members?

I would think Disney would want to use this perk to encourage DVCers to eat out at the deluxe resorts instead of staying in and cooking, but maybe not.

Here's the how the perk is officially worded:
<blockquote>Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Disney Vacation Club Members are not charged for valet parking at Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Resort or Disney's Wilderness Lodge, regardless of where you're staying. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked.

You will be charged the daily fee of $6.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you've paid for the valet service, you'll receive unlimited valet parking for the remainder of the day. Whether or not you are charged to valet park, gratuities are still appropriate. There will be no charge for guests with disabilities who have the proper permits. </blockquote>
I think it's pretty clear.

It may be possible to avoid the "daily fee of $6.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort," but they're supposed to charge you $6.00 for your first non-DVC resort valet parking of the day.

My 2 cents. I believe that the ticket or whatever small paper you get in your car is different than the one you would get for paying cash. After my initial check in at any valet DVC resort, I was never asked for DVC ID because my parking permit clearly said "member parking permit". All other permits say "guest parking permit" alone with the resort you are registered at. Every time I have had my car brought up, I had no return piece of paper for a valet at another non-DVC resort, nor was there a tag hanging from the mirror. Once they see that "member parking permit" on the dash, it's a different routine as far as the type of ticket you get. If they mention to me that it would cost $6 I flash my DVC id and that would be it. I would love to go from BWV to the GF and valet for free but I can't. I have never been turned away from self parking at almost any resort mainly because I usually don't visit during the real busy time.

So is pool hopping the same, only allowed at DVC properties too?

While staying at the BCV we were charged at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian when we arrived for dinner.

You can poolhop anywhere except AKL and YC/BC.

I've never had the hangtag or ticket in my car after getting free valet at BWV. I've always had the "member parking permit" and never had to show my card.

And probably will complain when you get caught!

Think I'm out of this thread.

A silly analogy, but yes. And good bye. Come back when you are actually able to make a salient point about the subject. I'm telling you what happens, & you take offense. Time to get a grip.

The intent is that the DVC valet parking perk only applies at the Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, and Boardwalk -- not at the Grand Floridian or even the Yacht Club (which is attached to the Beach Club). In other words, it only applies to DVC resorts, and only to those that have valet parking.

You'll pay $6 for valet parking at the Grand Floridian.

As wdwdvcdad wrote, he's figured out that you can valet park at one of the three DVC resorts first, and that if the valet paking attendent leaves the valet tag in your car, you can then park at another resort, such as the Grand Floridian, without paying the valet parking fee there. That's not the intent of the DVC perk.

When any perks are abused, we face he possibility of losing those perks entirely.

You make it sound as though I went looking for something. They put it on my rearview & told me I could valet for the rest of the day. If you want to give away your money needlessly, go ahead. Just don't expect others to follow your foolish advice, and do not get offended when they figure out how foolish it is. SO, maybe it is the intent...YOU DO NOT KNOW BECAUSE YOU DID NOT WRITE IT! Stop acting like you do. Now, about refillable mugs.......

They gave me the same one on numerous occasions.

The more DVC perks are abused, the greater the chances are they will go away.

The intent of the free valet parking perk for DVC members is for the three DVC resorts that offer valet parking, BMV, BCV, and WLV.

I wouldn't think of trying to use that "perk" at any other WDW resort. Trying to draw an analogy to pool hopping is mixing apples and oranges.

my two cents.....

I posted the rules, without changing one word.

And I'm accused of giving foolish advice.

We use the DVC valet parking perk whenever we go to dinner at BWV, VWL & BCV. When we dine at Poly or GF, we usually use self-park, because we feel $6 is too high for valet parking...UNLESS the weather is horrible. We were more than glad to pay $6 for valet parking at AKL, when we arrived for dinner at Jiko in a horizontal downpour. I think we even tipped extra, even though the storm had abated when we left dinner.

Just a side note, if you eat at Todd English's blue zoo at Dolphin (or Swan, I forget), they validate your valet parking, which I think was $10. The dinner at blue zoo was expensive, but high quality & worth every penny. The free valet parking was a nice touch. Our server even offered to have our car called for as he paid our dining bill.

I take no offense for supporting the DVC member valet parking rules!

We just returned from BWV where we always valet park. we went to the Poly for dinner and it was pouring so we decided to valet park there fully expecting to pay the $6 fee but when we tried to give the money to the valet he said you already have a sticker you don't need to pay. We gave him a nice tip coming and going. its just another case of not everyone being on the same page. I wasn't about to force the money on him and fiqure it will all wash out on the end because I have on occasion been denied the portable perks options when a cast member challenged the discount. I don't lose sleep over it. The rules are you get the valet options free at DVC resorts only and expect to pay at non resorts. You will on occasion be given the valet free because of the sticker. A little disney magic is my way of looking at it.

The rules are very clear as Ralph posted. If WDW choses to do things in such a way as to allow one to skip the charges at resorts it is not officially offered, that is their business. Just don't be surprised if they figure it out pretty quick. And as someone else mentioned, it might lead to an early end to the perk in general.

That is correct. And not only at BCV but at VWL and BWV too.

Shoot! You mean to tell me I wasn't supposed to pay for valet services on our last trip to BCV and I did anyway???

We were charged for valet at GF, too. But this whole free valet parking at BCV, WLV and BWV is totally new news to me.

We just started using it. We will use it everywhere from now on. Except of course @ OKW.:teeth:

I agree.

As the resorts figure out that they're losing valet parking revenue, it's likely that the valet parking attendents will get some additional training. The attendents at the DVC resorts are supposed to use special tags for DVC members, and the attendents at the other resorts are supposed to know what they mean.

The DVC valet parking benefit is a good perk. DVC member satisfaction would take a hit if they ever eliminate it. So, let's hope that they make an effort to make it work as designed, rather than taking the easy course and eliminating the perk.

But don't plan on free valet parking at the Grand Floridian, even if you've gotten it in the past.
