Who Rode Mission Space And Didn't Like It?

I was fine until the ride stopped, then I was dizzy in a weird sort of way (i.e. not like when you spun around as a kid, this felt different).

It took a full 1/2 hour to start to feel better. And, yes, I kept my eyes on the little screen, kept my head back, didn't look to the side, etc.

I'm more worried about the tight seating arrangement and claustrophobia. It would be a shame for me to miss this great ride, but I'm really having fears about the closed-in feeling.

Is there anything else at WDW that can compare to the size of the capsule? If I have something to compare it to size-wise , maybe it'll help me make the right decision to ride or not to ride!

The first time I had no problem but DH got sick. The second time the other three people on with me were kind of freaking out, it made me panicky and I got sick. I had to go to First Aid, first time ever (that was my new Disney attraction). I won't do it again. It was cool, but nothing I won't miss doing again.

I imagine that I will only ride Mission Space again if I feel the need to vomit. I wish the commercials showed the people who came off the ride with that pale, pasty look my fiance and I had at the end of the ride.
We did it once, that was more than enough.

I rode it once in December. I am truly glad that some people love this ride and that it isn't going to become known as "Disney's folly". However, I was trying so hard to do what everyone says (look straight ahead, not close my eyes, etc.). I still got kind of dizzy and couldn't see to push the button I was supposed to push. Afterwards I felt weird - not sick and not dizzy - just kind of disoriented and a little disappointed. It was basically the new version of a simulator ride, and I'm not much into simulator rides. Having my arms feel so heavy was kind of neat, though. I will give it another chance on my next trip.
FYI - I did see Hidden Mickeys on the left and right on the screen. There is also a definite hidden Mickey in the stars and nebulas (nebuli?) on the ceiling of the gift shop. Steven Barrett pointed it out on a Hidden Mickey hunt he conducted. It's big but kind of hard to spot at first.

Not interested, no thank you, no way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know my body and I know how I feel on the teacups when I get too out of focus. Only takes me a few minutes to recover from the teacups, when DH spins them out of control that is.
I'm not going to do a ride where I have to go back to the hotel to recover because I just wanted to "give it a try". Too much time wasted at Disney if that happens.
All of you who enjoyed it and did it once, good for you. For those of you that didn't like it, felt "weird" after you rode it....uh-uh....not me....NO WAY. :(

Wick - I too am claustophobic and was extremely worried about the "closeness" of the ride capsules, especially when I read about the control panel closing within inches of your face! I get panicky on airplanes because of the closed-in space, but when an attack comes on, I find staring out the window works to calm me. When I fly, I will only fly if a window seat is available (I NEED that window! LOL!) Well, the same thing worked on Mission:Space. When the cm closed the capsule, I thought I was going to freak, but two things saved me: the screen right in front of my face served as a window looking "outside" - I concentrated so hard on looking at that screen and convincing myself I was looking out through a window. I actually never even looked around the capsule to see the size of it! My complete focus was on the screen only from start to finish. And the other thing that saved me was the blast of cold air constantly blowing on me. I think the biggest thing with claustophobia is feeling like you are going to "suffocate". Having "fresh" air blown on me & having a "window" in front of me saved me from having a panic attack. So, I actually did okay with the claustophobia part; on the other hand, the spinning part got me sort of dizzy, but not enough to ruin my day. I'm glad I rode it once (just to say I tried it), but I doubt I'll go on it again - not because of the claustophobia, but because of the spinning itself.

DH loved Mission-space. I on the other hand took motion sickness pills, looked straight ahead and did not close eyes. Well lets just say good thing it's not a return trip. I started to thinkn oh no I'm going to get sick. Work on taking deep breaths and finally the ride ended it was a long 4 minutes. When I stepped out of the capsule my DH had to take me by the arm cause I was having trouble walking straight. Had to sit down for at least 20 minutes while DH played games to recover. Didn't feel completely recovered for an hour after the ride.

I usually do fine on all other rides,TOT, RRC, SM but this one really threw me for a loop. This will be the last time I go on that ride.

Am I glad I tried it? YES
Did I like it? NOT REALLY
Did it make me sick? YUP - Made 6 out of the 8 off us queazy (some more than others)
Will I try it again? PROBABLY!

I think I was so scared about getting sick that I didnt get to enjoy it as much as I could - I did feel pretty queazy about half way through (and I don't get queazy often) but I am willing to give it another try some day.

I rode it in November. I didn't get sick or anything - not prone to that. But I was very disappointed in the ride itself. As I've posted previously, I think Disney has tremendously over-hyped and wrongly advertised this as a big thrill ride. I was expecting something intense. Instead, I got a ride that was super smooth. It is fully enclosed so you have no point of reference to tell how fast you are going or what position you are in half the time.

I don't think the ride is bad, but it was definitely a let down based on all the pre-opening hype. My 8-year-old daughter loved it, though. I do think its a great starter thrill ride for the little ones since it is so calm. Unless you are really prone to motion sickness, there's really no reason to be afraid of it. Unfortunately, I think a lot of guests who would like the ride have been scared away by all the publicity.

Steve

A lot of people have also been scared away by watching others coming off the ride, as I mentioned earlier
