Who is the nicest celebrity you've ever met? The rudest?

Growing up in So Cal i met a lot also, I must say one of the nicest most gracious people i ever spoke with was Betty White. She also is much prettier in person.

SSB, please don't shatter my illusions of John Denver !

Have met a lot of sports players over the years, mostly baseball and auto racing, but I have to say football gave me the two extremes.

The nicest, Mike Singletary of the Bears, the rudest, Jim McMahon of the Bears.

Robin, Barry and I are right up there with the NBA guys?? :earseek: I can't jump though. ;)

II've met a lot of the stars from Star Trek (classic and Next Gen) all very nice, except for Shatner. He was very abrupt.

"Move out of your parents' basements and GET A LIFE!!" Yeah, I guess that was pretty abrupt... ;)

When my daughter was 8 years old we took her to the opening of Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas to try and meet Luke Perry. She had a major crush at the time. She has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, because of this the security guards (most were Air Force like us) moved her inside the gate, closer to the entrance, all the stars had to walk past her to enter the building. There was a woman dressed as Cleopatra who would ask dd who she wanted to meet and would position her self in such a way that they almost had to stop and say hi. Other times, security guards would guide the stars to dd saying "this young lady has been waiting all day to meet you" ;) They were all very nice. She met a lot of stars, the nicest -

Luke Perry (spent like 5 minutes talking to her, so sweet)
Paula Abdul (kissed her so many times dd had pink lipstick all over her face)
Eric Roberts (wrote the sweetest note in her autograph book)
Charlie Sheen (just funny and very nice)
Whoopie Goldberg (signed her Disney Lion King book)
Cameron Diaz (very sweet)
Steve Guttenberg (stood patiently by while Paula Abdul signed dd's book even though he didn't have to)
Bruce Willis and Demi Moore (very friendly and happy)

Rude (only two - most were very nice)
Maria Shriver (her husband Arnold had to practically force her to sign the book, looked very angry - Arnold was super though)
Sly Stallone

Another time we were at Planet Hollywood showing some family members the place and we saw Sinbad. He was leaving, surrounded by people but took the time to stop and say hi to dd. Posed for a picture and gave her an autograph. Very nice.

She also got to meet the members of 98 Degrees two years ago here in Oklahoma. They were really nice (not too hard on the eye either), spent a lot of time talking to her and posing for pictures and signing her CD.

I meet both Barry Manilow and John Travolta back in Phila when I was teenager. Both very nice also, although as I get older it seems that Barry keeps getting younger -- soon we'll be the same age.

Both dd and I are now big NASCAR fans, our newest goal - meet Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Michael Waltrip and Ward Burton. We'll be at WDW next summer when they are at Daytona (Jul race), we just have to work on our plan.

The nicest- Bruce Hornsby. We were at an outdoor concert and
the electricity went out. He came out and just hung out with
us for about 45 minutes until the juice was back on. We
talked about his black eye received during a basketball game
and our kids. It was fun.

Paul Reiser was very nice in an airport. we were on the same
flight and sat together so we talked the whole way home.

Years ago an old boyfriend and I stalked Johnny Cash's
ranch near Nashville. We finally saw him. My boyfriend
yelled and yelled. Mr. Cash walked all the way down his
lane to talk to us. It was so cool!

I don't have any rude encounters to report.

ToriLammy, I ran into Maria Shriver & Arnold Schwarznegger once at this little gourmet grocery store where I live, and while I didn't ask them for an autograph, I found the same to be true. Maria, not so nice, Arnold, very nice. Her mother was there too, somebody Kennedy, and she looked very unhappy. I didn't dare say a word to her, nor did anyone else.

Another good celebrity encouner I had was when I went to this political fundraiser. Warren Beatty and Annette Benning were there - both were VERY down to earth and friendly. I was so surprised, for some reason I expected Warren to be snobby, but he was so friendly. And so handsome in person, even in his 60's. :) They both were very "regular", talked about their kids, etc. and if you didn't know who they were you'd have thought they were just neighbors or other parents at your child's school.

Nicest, by far, Levar Burton. Met him at WDW, he signed autographs, did a Q and A ( ton of fun, he could tell how old we were by asking if we knew Star Trek, Reading Rainbow, or for us Really Ancient ones, Roots! A hoot.! We had a great time!

Regis philbin and Alan King next, both very gracious and appreciative of all their fans.

Worst: Kathie Lee Gifford, way full of herself and not bothering to talk to us little people unless a camera is on her. Hope she has changed and come back down to earth in later years.

I have met a few celebrities and most have been at least polite. Here are some of the nicest:

Frank Thomas (exceedingly polite, contrary to news media portrayals--I have been around him more times than I can count and he is always friendly and polite);
Ray Durham (now of the Oakland A's--great with kids).
Nick Price (PGA golfer)
Fred Inkley (Beast from Beauty and Beast; Valjean from Les Mis).
Robert Ray (longtime governor of Iowa).

Here are some of the jerks:

Lee Trevino
Jack Nicklaus
Payne Stewart
George Bell (baseball player)
Sammy Sosa
Peter Ueberroth
Robert Lucas (nobel prize winner)

Coming home from the Keys one time we were stuck in the Miami Airport for 16 hours. Met lots of the PGA Golfers but one person I will always remember. He was so friendly and gracious. The late Danny Thomas.

Meet Pete Rose about a year ago self-centered, arrogant and rude.

Nicest...Audrey Meadows and Dr. Ruth Westheimer (sp?), Donald Trump (since it was his airline I worked for for a while!)

Rudest.....Steve Martin and Lucille Ball

Others very nice: Jackie O, Phil Donahue, Diane Sawyer, Sam Donaldson, Peter Jennings............

Being a flight attendant did have it perks!!

No rude encounters with celebs. I did walk out of a deli in Manhattan one day and I wasn't looking and "body slammed" into Charlie Sheen. He apologized (wasn't his fault) and I stood there like an idiot with my mouth hanging open as he walked away.

I haven't met too many celebs.........Patti LaBelle was the most gracious and kind, I worked for her MD back in the mid 1980's, she always arrived in her black Rolls Royce, full length fur coat, and 4 inch spike heels during the "off hours." The doctor I worked for would always have her come in when nobody else was scheduled.

Rudest and by far the most demanding, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown.

I haven't met that many celebrities and can't say that I've ever met one who was rude.

That said, Keith Richards was the nicest one I ever met. I actually sat on his lap. He was a load of fun, but yes, in case you're wondering, he is stinky.

Okay, maybe not a household name, but I found Phyllis Cicero (Stella the Storyteller from Barney) to be a very friendly lady.

She was booked at the children's section of a big music festival we have in Montgomery each year. Her actual show was brief and not much too it. She read a short story with Clifford, Maisy, and another character I don't remember.

After the story, "Stella" and all the characters stood for photos and autographs with the kids in the audience. My then three year old daughter was outside the room when Stella exited. Since my DD had no concept of celebrity status and "knew" Stella from TV, she ran up to her and took her by the hand to lead her into a "free range" play area for kids in a large indoor room.

Ms. Cicero was very gracious and gave my daughter sincere attention and chatted with my wife and I for a few minutes until she had to leave for the airport. It made a great impression.

I haven't met a lot of celebrities...met a few before they were celebrities though. But the one I have always thought of as the sweetest man was Robert Urich. I lived in Boston and was in college when Spenser for Hire was being filmed. They often used areas around my college (and sometimes our buildings) and he was just the nicest guy. When they asked the students to be extras walking through a scene, he always took the time to talk with us and yes, he even signed autographs (of course we were not through an agency...most agencies have strict rules that you do NOT ask for autographs). He really was just a nice guy.

Another person that I got to meet by phone who was really nice was Dabney Coleman. When I worked at a college, his daughter went there and her tuition was not paid. We contacted the mother, who was listed on the account for receiving the bills and she told me that her ex-husband was responsible for paying by the divorce decree (we didn't have any billing info on him). So she gave me a phone number and told me it was his accountant. I called at noon time (Boston time...9am CA time) and ended up waking Dabney Coleman up. I apologized and explained the situation (even told him I thought I was calling the accountant). He asked me to give him 10 minutes and he would call me back. He called right when he said he would. Then he apologized to me for waking him up. We got the account squared away and added him as an additional biller so he didn't have to rely on his ex-wife to send the bill to his accountant and then wait for the accountant to proccess it. He was one of the more pleasant parents I had to collect tuition off of.

My father was an autograph hound when he was a kid so I put this question to him. He said the nicest star he ever met was Marilyn Monroe (he also said she was in a league by herself in terms of beauty).
The rudest by far was Spencer Tracy, who actually chased my father through the streets of Manhattan for daring to ask for an autograph.

I've never actually met a star but recently I saw Samuel L. Jackson on line at a Barnes & Noble. He had on earphones and never looked up from the floor...I guess he didn't want anybody to bother him. Eventhough the store was
crowded few people approached him. Later on that week I was on Times Square, passing Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. Ironically, they had a wax figure of Samuel L. Jackson outside and it was mobbed with people trying to take a picture. Go figure.

I went to a CD signing at a bookstore for Carly Simon. She was so nice! She gave out T-shirts for free, and let us take pics with her. She really seems like a quiet, shy type of a person.:D

I was in a club, and everyone said that a famous wrestler was there. I have no idea who he was, not a fan, lol! Apparantly he got so obnoxious that, he ended up getting thrown out!:bounce:

I live in New York City and have met quite a few celebrities. Didn't realize we were doing lists (lol!). So, if I had to make a list:

Nicest:
Ernie Sabella (Pumbah!)
Brian Boitano
Kurt Browning
Mel Brooks (even though I was completely tongue tied)
Susan Lucci
Trisha Yearwood
Barry Manilow (I have heard conflicting stories, but he wasn't rude to me, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt)

Rudest:
Star Jones
(Still the only person on my list. She was downright snotty.)

Nicest:
James Taylor (very real but quiet, knows how to treat his fans)
Roger Miller (too sweet and down-to-earth, met him twice)
Shirley Jones (just like the girl next door, so friendly)
Sam Donaldson (very nice to a group of high school srs in DC)
Princess Di (my friend met her and said she was wickedly funny)

Not-so-nice:
Carol Channing (not friendly at all, I think she was drunk)
Doc Severinsen (not ugly, signed autographs but looked afraid?)

I know there are more. I used to always go for autographs after a show. I'll have to think.

The only rude star I've met in person was

Donny Osmond. YECK! (love his brothers)
