Who is Not Buying VGF2 and Why?

I was seriously considering it and DH told me to go ahead, but I have decided not. Losing Magical Express, the high cost of APs (if they ever come back new), Genie+ and LL additional costs, and all the other things that have been cut put us at a hard no. We still have 20 years on our BWV points and have enough points for a 8 nights a year in a two bedroom if we do one week in standard 1 of every three years. We also have some WVL points to use for shorter trips.

We were going to try and get another full week, but the high points charts are crazy, and we actually prefer to be closer to Epcot and DHS. I will hold out for the BWV rebuy in 20 years.

Congrats to all who bought and enjoy your points. I am looking forward to spending more time in London or skiing instead.
I’m at VGF now and think this is the smart call. Genie + is not working well, lines are much longer than they should be…next result the experience at the parks is not as good as it was,

Staff shortages appear to be having a big impact still… menus at restaurants have very limited options and the quality is not great.

Hopefully things will get back to normal soon… if this was my first experience of Disney I wouldn’t come back.
I think it will be 2023 before things are back to normal.

If the new normal is like the current situation I will probably look to sell. It‘s just not good enough.

I’m not buying … but the FOMO is making me nervous, I have seen the GFV2 threads all day LOL
I prefer the walking distance of BLt and the castle view from Poly, both resale.. also have RiV direct so blue card is secured… but… addonitis is a thing

That’s a shame.

When I was there in late October the lightning lanes were generally less than a 5 minute wait. It seemed like a great deal.

Aulani has "hotel rooms" as a DVC category.
That's because it's Hawaiian.

We are not buying. GF is not our style plus the high point chart. I'm waiting to see what DVC offers from the recent/ongoing Beach Club ROFR bloodbath and of course DLT!
Thing about the 2042 resorts is the points charts. Since the rooms are provisioned at so many fewer points, the price per point needs to be even higher to effectively raise the value. Also, the Epcot resorts have to be above and beyond Riviera to steer people towards buying at Riviera.

I have plenty of points already. None at VGF, but so far I’ve never had an issue getting any resort I wanted at 7 months, so I don’t see any reason to add more at the higher price points compared to say SSR resale. Also, last visit was horrible compared to pre-Covid. I agree that if that had been my first visit to WDW, I wouldn’t be going back.

My family’s not buying either. The resort looks nice but it sounds like it’s an MK resort and that doesn’t really interest me - MK has similar rides to Disneyland and VGC is our home resort. So when we go to WDW, we prefer the other 3 parks. I’m mostly interested in a location near Epcot or Hollywood Studios (assuming we’d ever buy again).

A) No funds at the moment, different priorities.
B) Resort point chart is too high -- have to buy a mountain of points to get a one or two-bedroom. We don't like studios of any type.
C) Prefer adding on resale Riviera to stay longer/bigger.
D) More interested in adding on at CC for different theming and more MK access as second home base if needed since we like to travel in December.
E) Do have FOMO and the price is good, but not for us.
F) Kind of curious if there will be a similar add-on with different room categories at the Poly in the future or conversion of Grand Destino Tower to DVC with Skyliner access. That would interest me.
G) Tin hat theorizing here, we LOVE all things Skyliner and definitely think it's only a matter of time before it's expanded. We also love Riviera being in one compact footprint under cover from the elements and heat. DLT having the same resale restrictions won't make much difference for the WDW pool, so why strand Riviera as the only new DVC with restrictions? I think the master plan is to expand the Skyliner and make Riviera key to the DVC getting around. I think its value will only go up, up, up. Now we need to live long enough to see it happen!

The LL are not long….the problem is accessing them. The system appears to be restricting the number of passes it gives out. Some standby lines are over 2 hours long, yet the LL are almost empty.

I considered it yesterday, but not buying because:
- I don't like the new VGF2 rooms
- With the influx of new owners the "original" rooms will be harder to get (stinks for legacy VGF owners)
- Those point charts are pretty high
- Even with these good pricing incentives, that is a hefty chunk of change because of the points that will be needed to accommodate those point charts
- But the most important reason is that I really don't jive well with VGF. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty resort. It's just a little too...stuffy.

I guess I should say it isn’t just that I have enough VGF points; I have enough total points…period. We have enough to go when we want and now treat family to trips too. We’re going this summer for 5 nights with extended family using our points. We now seem to always have extras and rent out to friends. Also, with some of the frustrations at WDW lately, we have already cut down on our number of annual trips. Instead of buying more, we’ll either stay the same or possibly sell some.
If the pandemic hadn't happened, I probably would have added on somewhere - maybe BLT to get us into the GVs there. As it stands right now, we have plenty of points and are working them off from 2 years of banking ... and we are still banking a few points, even after two weeks over Christmas/New Years. Some depends on if my dad wants to continue traveling with us - my oldest is 10 and he is 80, so 2BR for now are fine, but I could see them needing their own space in a few years, if - fingers crossed - my dad still wants to travel with us. I see that as a good problem to have.

I'm already on the monorail and have direct membership with BLT. If I was adding, I'd rather buy more BLT points.

I prefer BLT for proximity and more 1,2,3 br inventory. I’m not a fan of the hotel studios. And I’d rather wait for DLT

F) Kind of curious if there will be a similar add-on with different room categories at the Poly in the future

This! With the Luau closing, a longhouse close by, sight line balloons being placed in the area years ago, and some folks desire for 1 and 2BRs at the Poly I could see it potentially happening in the future. Of course this is complete speculation but one has to think it could be an idea.

Add-on (pun intended) the GF is super nice but just not our vibe.

Agree. Love the restaurants, just not a fan of the resort. Still miss the orchestra. Loved having a drink and listening to them play.
Thats why there are so many options for DVC so you can find the one that you enjoy.

I agree with you regarding the availability for the "original" rooms. I told my wife last night that I think our last trip staying in the Deluxe Studio at VGF was likely our last ever, as I suspect by 7-months those will all be 100% booked. And we can forget about 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms. My guide sent me the sales brochure and I feel bad for current owners. They are marketing hard the fact that the property has a variety of room choices - it shows the floorpans for each. I would be so frustrated knowing that the DVC is showcasing this property like the entire thing was a brand new build.

Because of this, I am holding for VGF3. :)

I was about to pull the trigger but getting no 2021 points is giving me pause, we would rather own at CCV (already own at BRV) and after doing the math if we get 2021 points on a CCV purchase there is no price difference between the 2 ($225 - $18 = $207), so I feel there is no longer a need to rush, I might as well just buy CCV later this year once we have a better picture of how the world economics will play out.
