Jodi I race a "crank", well when its not in pieces
There are two types of racing chair. A crank chair is for people who can not (my case), or do not want to use a racing chair.
With a crank you sit in a netural position (legs out stright) and in stead of pushing the wheels with you hands you turn a crank to move the wheels. It puts a lot less stress on your body.
Most big races have seperate classes for "push rim" & "crank". Smaller ones like Disney, only have "push rim", so when a crank races there we are considered an exhibiton, thats why eventhough I won the Princess it did not count. (to Disney, but it did my sponsors!!)
I crased a few monts ago at 30mph and I have been trying to get my chair fixed, as parts are custom made it takes time, it would have been quicker to get a new one, but to $$$$$$.
I am just waiting for my wheels to be made, yes made, as even they have to be custom. I should have them the end of september, then I can start training!!!!!!
