Who Invited My Mother In Law? A Moderately Deluxe TR All New X 3 & PTR Link 2/3 !!

What an amazing experience for Maddie!!! And well worth the money... Memories are priceless!!! pixiedust:

Too bad they don't have a program to change Cruella (aka MIL) into the Fairy God Mother... That would have been money well spent!!! :rotfl2:

BBB looks like some awesome fun!! It definitely is a magical experience, the little ones must LOVE it. Maddie looks great as Jasmine, just adorable!!

Great Update!

I love seeing the pics of Maddie at BBB. She makes a beautiful Jasmine! And of course the shoes complete the outfit!

I totally agree with you about doing this while she's young and still wants to. There is such a small window for kids and you never know when it will close. I really hope one day Tessa will be interested in something like this, but we aren't there yet.

You MiL counting the money sounds like one thing my mom would do. Ugh, that drives me crazy! She is constantly worried about other people's money. I'm like you aren't paying for it so why do you care?:rolleyes1

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Yay on Maddie choosing Jasmine...I love her outfit and am glad dad was ready for the exposed stomach at MK!

Wow the salon sure looks really good.

Am glad you asked for the shoes as they compliment the outfit perfectly.

Aaw love the conversation that took place between Maddie and the FGMIT :thumbsup2

Great PP pics and thanks for the comparison between the Castle and DTD locations. I have to agree with you that Maddie won't be able to get the BBB experience forever and she will remember the experiences for a long time so it is well worth the cost.

my 7 year old wants to be Jasmine for MNSSHP this year and I have been mentally preparing myself for her stomach showing all night too :sad2:

I too my girls to BBB in the castle 3 years ago and I knew I couldn't afford the full deal for 2 so I got them the costumes on sale at the Disney store and they had the hair and make-up done. They were treated just the same as everyone else there and we still got the photo shoot and added it to my PP.

However 3 hours after they had it done they both wanted their hair washed out :scared:

After that I told them we won't do it again and I have not broken that promise :)

I almost didn't read this TR b/c it is written by a Cubs fan (Go Sox!) but when I saw your princess I am glad I did!

Loving your TR so much. I have a DS7 and can't do any of that BBB stuff so I love all of the pics and I totally would do exactly what you did (and spent) if I had a little girl...totally worth it!

Thank you for sharing, can't wait for the rest!

Lisa

PS I live in a SW suburb of Chicago and I grew up on the SW side of Chicago. Are we far from each other?

I wanted to comment again about the BBB..but about your MIL. UGH! I hate when people go to a 'fancy' or expensive event/restaurant/whatever and they comment on the price repeatedly. First of all, it's rude to everyone around her. Second it's embarassing. Third, everyone in that place is well aware of the cost. So repeating it over and over is just unnecessary. And fourth, well...actually NOT everyone knows the cost. The room is full of little princesses (sometimes princes) who think they are being given the royal treatment by their legitimate FGMIT and it might hurt some little feelings to know that it's in fact a service that mom & dad are buying, not special treatment just because they are royalty! I would hate to have explain to a child..."well, no I guess the FGm didn't really invite you, we made reservations and paid in cash." Kwim? It's just rude and uncalled for all around! I hope her attitude didn't put a damper on the event for you guys, or anyone else within earshot!

Yay! I see Maddie got to keep her bangs this time! Again, thanks to your last TR I prepped DH for the Cost of the Castle package. I can't wait and seeing your pictures this time have me jumping out of my skin with excitment. That costume is way cuter than I imagined. I can't wait to see how the rest of Maddie's day turns out.

She did get to keep her bangs. We mentioned that to the FGIT and she said that they could. I wonder if it has something to do with the length of the bangs, and maybe didn't understand last time.

It is expensive, but they itemize the receipts and you don't pay anything extra. It really is just the price of the dress, shoes, wand, crown, and hair/makeup services.

You are going to love the BBB! It's such a special thing for little girls. And for the parents? Seeing your little one feel like a princess is priceless. It's so much fun!

They are really nice outfits. The Ariel one that she got last trip is still in really good shape even after she's worn it all day in the parks twice, played dress up in it at home, and wore it half days three times on this trip. I think that they're really good quality.

I can't wait for you to get to experience it!

Love it. Maddie looks so beautiful and happy. The Jasmine costume is so cute. It is probably the perfect one for the summer even though the belly is exposed. Xander has a very fake smile too, so we often get our best shots of him from candid photos. Some day, I want to have a daughter and take her there. My sister brought her girls there with their Halloween costumes from the previous year. They loved it there so much. Sorry your MIL was concerned more with what everyone was spending rather than how much Maddie was enjoying herself. I agree that it is worth every penny. They are only small once and it's not everyday they get to do things like the bippity boppity boutique.

Thank you! She never complained about being hot in the dress (she's too concerned with looking great-wouldn't dream of dressing for function over fashion), but the Jasmine outfit was nice. The pants were sheer, so she was able to stay nice and cool.

I hope that you get to take one of your own little ones to the BBB someday, you'd absolutely love it. It's such a special experience.

MiL had mentioned before the trip that she's always noticed how much money Disney is making from the BBB, I had just hoped that she'd be tactful enough not to mention it when we were there. I guess I also hoped that she'd just relax and enjoy being there with Maddie. She's not a girly girl, and only had boys, so maybe she just doesn't understand it?

The fake smiles are killing me! Especially when you have to pay for the pics before you see them (school and dance) and you end up with some like the BBB ones we got! I know she'll grow out of it, and we take plenty of photos ourselves, so we've got some good ones.

Maddie's BBB makeover looks beautiful!!! She looks so excited!!

Thank you! She was so excited! Just tonight she said "Mommy do you remember when I got to go to the special Bibbity Bobbity Boutique?" I said, "Which one is the special one?" "The one in the castle mommy, I really hope that I get to go there again someday"

LOVE her makeover! Maddie is a real princess! My dd was turned into Sleeping Beauty this year and we paid for shoes as well (and a gloves/purse combo...and a tee shirt...she was a first timer, so we pulled out all the stops). Like you, I believe that every penny spent was well worth it. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, you could do a lot of other things with the money. But no, you can't replace that experience! I was thoroughly impressed with every second we spent at the BBB (we were at Cinderella's castle as well). To top it off, as we left BBB, we rounded the corner to go to CC for our photo shoot, and ran straight into the Fairy Godmother. It was a pixie dust filled magical moment!

Thank you!

We ended up buying her the purse/gloves set too! And, I wish that we'd gotten the T-shirt! I think she'd want to wear it all the time!

The Castle BBB is so great isn't it? The whole thing is such a great experience. Totally worth the price.

How fantastic that you ran into the Fairy Godmother! What a magical day you must have had!

I am!

I assumed that you were in the minority and spared everyone else of 400 pictures of my kid.

I think it's just too small for the amount of people that pack in there. It was the same when we were there.

Both of them have really limited waiting areas. That'd be my only complaint. There's simply not enough room for the people who bring the kids to stand and watch/wait. Every kid comes with a minimum of one person and usually a couple more, right?

Lucky you that she chose that hairstyle. I tried to get my daughter to get that one but she opted for that awful Diva one with the blue hair extensions. She looked better going in the place than coming out. Oh well. She had fun.

I wasn't too worried about it. She's pretty fanatical about authenticity so I didn't think that she'd want crazy hair with a fancy dress. To be fair though, I pretty much just pointed at the princess 'do and said "that one right?"

I think for an older girl the hair extensions might be fun-probably not for the parents though. :lmao:

I wonder why they're extra with Jasmine's outfit?

I think it's because they weren't real shoes. More on that later.

How long before her feet started hurting and the crocs went back on?

:rotfl2: Never. She is seriously a grown up in a 5 year old's body when it comes to fashion. The kid will suffer feet covered in blisters before she'll wear shoes that don't match.

When she outgrows shoes that she really loves, she doesn't tell me. I have to hope that I notice the blisters myself.

Especially if she wants to go swimming like ours did.

Yup, mine was done with the hair that night. She told me that I could re-create the look for her the next day. :headache:

She looks adorable!

Thank you!

My daughter only wanted to do it the one time.

Maddie speaks of her next visit to the BBB nightly. Since we've told her that an invitation is largely based on good behavior (much like the Santa lie) she had some questions. Tonight she was asking if I had the FG's address and would I be reporting her recent less than stellar behavior. I told her that I have the e-mail address and check in once a week. Very, very seriously she said to me "Mommy could you please not email her about today?" :lmao:

Aw... Disney.

:cloud9:

Great update Shannon! Love the photos!

Thanks Laura!

I agree with your thoughts about doing BBB while she is into it. I'm sure it is well worth the money to give her the opportunity to be a princess for the day.

I'm glad that the FGIT was so great with her. Gotta love how Disney CM's are willing to go the extra mile.

It's a great experience for little girls, so worth it. The princess phase can be so short.

The FGIT was outstanding. Disney does that great!

Love it! Maddie looks adorable. This has been my favorite update so far, I love hearing about the BBB!

Thank you so much! The BBB is really fun to write about.

What a magical memory! :goodvibes

I agree with you - do these things while they're into it, at whatever level you can afford. Makes me feel like I maybe I should've booked Pirates League for Reid this year. Great! Thanks for making me feel guilty and like I'm the most horrible mother on Earth. :guilty: :lmao:

Oh my goodness! I think that you have time for Pirate's League. Pirates don't stop being cool.

Her makeover was fantastic! I love all of the photos! I'm glad y'all had a great FGMIT!

That FGMIT was outstanding, I should really write an email.

As for MIL adding up the Disney dollars.... I'm glad you ignored her once again. Yes, Disney makes a lot of money. They also provide priceless experiences & memories. Get over it!

They really do! I wish that MiL could have just enjoyed it. I think that maybe it's because she only had sons and isn't very girly herself? Kinda disappointing.

Oh, gosh. I haven't booked BBB this year, and now I think I should try. You're right--they won't want to do it forever, and those crazy hairstyles don't last *that* long:thumbsup2.

I hope that I didn't cause trouble. I only have one to pay for! But, one dip in the pool and the hair goop is gone....:lmao:

Maddie looks gorgeous in that costume! Was it hot? I mean, I do realize that her tummy is bare, but are the pants hot? We brought costumes from home last year, but I could be swayed into buying one...:rolleyes1

She would never have admitted it if she was hot, but I don't think that she was. The pants were pretty sheer under all of that bling, and the top was obviously lightweight. :lmao: That outfit was likely a lot more cool than the dresses with all of the layers under the skirt.

You're girls will be so excited!

What a great idea having the FGM invite Maddie to BBB!! It looked like such a fantastic experience!!

Thank you so much! It was a really, really great day!

LOVE IT!!!

Of course she had to have the shoes! Kathryn would have been the same way!

I totally understood too, who'd want to wear crocs with their super-fancy princess outfit? :confused3

I have already given in and booked Kathryn the "Royal Sea Package" when we go on the Fantasy in a few weeks. She has been asking for all the different dresses, so I figured why not get the package with all the extra special touches!

Ohhhh, that one sounds amazing! That's the one with the trunk and the glass slipper and the mermaid too right? OMG you HAVE to do a TR, I MUST hear all about it!!!! That sounds AMAZING!!!! I'm so excited for you and your DD!!!!

Hi!

I have been lurking here a while and decided to take the plunge and actually register.... mainly because I started reading your TR and it is hilarious and I NEEDED to subscribe!!!

Thank you so much for joining in! I appreciate the nice words!!!

I am off to the World 31st March next year with my DH(27), DMil, DFiL and DSiL (25) not ideal but it is a free vacation so can't complain too much (just wait for my TR!!!) :thumbsup2

That sounds like one heckofa vacation! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

LOVE IT! What little girl wouldn't come out of BBB being just the happiest ever!

Kadence is loving the Jasmine costume, it covers well. She said shoes have to go with the outfit.:thumbsup2

Thank you Kadence, I agree. Who would want to wear Crocs with a Jasmine outfit? :confused3 That just wouldn't work.

It is a lot more covered up than I feared it would be, considering it's a half shirt and sheer pants. :rotfl:

Maddie look totally adorable and that IS what matters!

I can tell when Kadence has had enough with the phototaking, it all becomes teeth and strained eyes.

Thank you!

That sounds exactly like the photos we've got! :rotfl2: I guess I don't blame her. She was over the pictures.

Maddie looks wonderful! What special BBB experience for her :goodvibes

I would LOVE to be able to do BBB with a little princess, but seeing as I only have princes, Pirates League will have to do...

I am so glad that she enjoyed her makeover! I can't wait to read about the rest of your day!

Thank you! I think that the Pirate's League looks awesome, it's my turn to be jealous. We won't be going there any time soon. Tonight Maddie asked where little girls who don't behave well enough to be invited to BBB get to go. I told her Pirate's League, and she was horrified! :rotfl:

We had a great day, I can't wait to share.

I love this update! The BBB always looks so magical!

It is! I wish they had one for moms, well- I guess they do- The GF Spa. :lmao:

I completely agree with you about doing the magical stuff like this when they're little! DH and I were just talking about that last night (in our case, in reference to going to Thomas the Train in a few weeks ;))

You really have to. How long will Thomas be cooler than anything? It's such fun to take advantage of that.

And on your MIL, grrr to her and the adding up $! If we had smashed her with the bread pudding at 'Ohana, she might have still been upset and skipped BBB! ;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Another opportunity missed! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Maddie is a beautiful princess!! I love that she chose Jasmine. The outfit is super adorable.

Thank you! It is a really cute outfit, and I was glad that she chose one that not too many others were wearing. I think we only saw one other Jasmine that day. :thumbsup2

It was fun reading about your BBB experience! Having only boys, it hasn't really been on our radar. ;) How fun--what a special day for Maddie.

:lmao: I can't imagine your boys are demanding to be treated to the Knight Package!

It's a really fun place for little girls.

Those are some awesome pictures of Maddie! I love her choice of outfit. She is absolutely adorable.

Thank you!

I just have to laugh at your mother in law. Why some people can't just let the magic overtake them is beyond me. She's just like my mother in law though. Not really into Disney and thinks that it's too expensive and is a general downer. LOL!!

Love how your DH only winced a bit. LOL! Men are funny sometimes.

Can't wait to read more!

I think you hit the nail on the head. She just won't let herself be swept up in the Magic. It's a shame.

I hate when people act like Disney is too expensive. It can be, but it can also be really affordable as well. It's really no more expensive than any other family vacation!

He was NOT ready for his little girl to be wearing that. :rotfl: He was great though, he never said a word about the outfit (other than it was beautiful) to Maddie.

Aww, I'm so glad yall had such a wonderful experience! You're right, she definitely won't be doing it forever, but if she's anything like me, she won't be over the princesses for quite some time. :lmao:

I think it's gonna be a while before Maddie is sick of them too. Maybe just a phase when she's 13?:lmao:

I'm glad you chose to ignore the money comments, haha. The reveal pictures are so great!

Thank you! Those reveal pictures are some of my favorites from the whole trip!

What an amazing experience for Maddie!!! And well worth the money... Memories are priceless!!! pixiedust:

You're absolutely right! I keep telling DH that vacations to Europe and Hawaii an wait, I want to capitalize on the Disney Magic while we can. It's amazing.

Too bad they don't have a program to change Cruella (aka MIL) into the Fairy God Mother... That would have been money well spent!!! :rotfl2:

:lmao: I wonder how much a service like that would cost? :lmao::lmao::lmao: "I see 5 cranky Mothers in law, there's $1500 ", "there goes a MiL, SiL combo-another $600" :rotfl:

BBB looks like some awesome fun!! It definitely is a magical experience, the little ones must LOVE it. Maddie looks great as Jasmine, just adorable!!

It's such a great experience! It's great to look around and see all of the little girls who are all having the most magical day ever.

Thank you!

Great Update!

Thanks Megan!

I love seeing the pics of Maddie at BBB. She makes a beautiful Jasmine! And of course the shoes complete the outfit!

Had to have the shoes. :cool2:

I totally agree with you about doing this while she's young and still wants to. There is such a small window for kids and you never know when it will close. I really hope one day Tessa will be interested in something like this, but we aren't there yet.

I hope that someday you'll get to experience it with Tessa, it's amazing. If not, at least you got to do Pirate's League! I'm jealous about that!

You MiL counting the money sounds like one thing my mom would do. Ugh, that drives me crazy! She is constantly worried about other people's money. I'm like you aren't paying for it so why do you care?:rolleyes1

I'm looking forward to reading more!

Exactly!!! My mom acts like we're Rockefellers or something because we work hard and go on nice vacations! As for MiL, you're right! We weren't asking her to chip in! :rotfl:

Yay on Maddie choosing Jasmine...I love her outfit and am glad dad was ready for the exposed stomach at MK!

:lmao: He got himself prepared!

Wow the salon sure looks really good.

It was really great inside--very royal.

Am glad you asked for the shoes as they compliment the outfit perfectly.

Aaw love the conversation that took place between Maddie and the FGMIT :thumbsup2

That was such fun! Maddie loves to hear "insider" info about the characters. She really ate that up!

Great PP pics and thanks for the comparison between the Castle and DTD locations. I have to agree with you that Maddie won't be able to get the BBB experience forever and she will remember the experiences for a long time so it is well worth the cost.

I hope that we get the chance to do it again before she gets too old for it, it's amazing. :goodvibes

my 7 year old wants to be Jasmine for MNSSHP this year and I have been mentally preparing myself for her stomach showing all night too :sad2:

I don't the know the area super well yet, but we're in Plainfield. Close?

Thanks again for joining in! Don't be a stranger!

I wanted to comment again about the BBB..but about your MIL. UGH! I hate when people go to a 'fancy' or expensive event/restaurant/whatever and they comment on the price repeatedly. You are exactly right! At the time I didn't really think about how she affected other people, but I'm sure she could have made someone really uncomfortable. It's a small place, it wouldn't have been hard to over-hear her.

I really hope that no little princesses dreams were ruined. I'm honestly not sure if Maddie knows that we paid or not. :confused3 We have never discussed the cost of it with her.

I always go out of my way not to offend people if possible, so I tend to be over-sensitive about people who don't think. I'm really glad that I'm not the only one.:goodvibes

I don't think my dd knows that we paid for it. After she was all done up, we paid our bill, but she was already outside with my mother and mil while Disney made their fast buck on me :lmao:

The t shirt is actually a surprisingly great value imo, it was only $15! One of the least expensive shirts I have seen on property! I liked how there was also a princess trading pin attached to the gift bag w/ all of her extra makeup & goodies. Even though it's expensive, I do feel like we got a lot for our money. First, the experience itself, but also quite a few tangible items to take home too. And as you said in another response, the dresses are a really nice quality. Dd's was used for the full day in the park and several times for dress up around the house so far, and it still looks brand new. The shoes (glittery pink Sleeping Beauty) are in pretty rough shape, but they served their purpose!

Oh my goodness! I think that you have time for Pirate's League. Pirates don't stop being cool.

Well, I did call but they had absolutely nothing available on the days we'll be in MK. :sad2: But, I think I'm going to try & do it for him on the Fantasy next May. Did you know that the Fantasy has a BBB? The boys can get pirate makeovers at the BBB on the ship. I bet Maddie would love to try out the BBB on a ship. :rolleyes1 Am I doing a good job of convincing you to set sail with us next May?

I feel like a broken record but I just have to say it...Maddie looks so adorable! I wish they had had BBB when Lacey was younger.

Maddie makes an adorable princess! I hope I can take my niece sometime...she is so girly girl now at 3 and I know she would love it! Glad you are ditching your MIL soon!

Enjoyed reading your post on how you found a way to get your DH happy about going to Disney. Thanks for sharing!

I am really enjoying reading your TR. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait until DD is old enough to be into dress up. Already at 21 months she is wants to carry a purse which is more than I get from her brothers, so I have hope that it is coming! Now she just needs to grow a little more hair.... :rotfl:

Exactly!!! My mom acts like we're Rockefellers or something because we work hard and go on nice vacations! As for MiL, you're right! We weren't asking her to chip in! :rotfl:

Pirates League is really fun. I don't know, give Maddie a few years she may surprise you and want to do it!

The other day I said something about Disney and going again and my mom said, "You should really take a break from there." Oh boy, are those fighting words!:lmao: She just keeps talking about how we need to do this or that, I'm like are you serious? How we want to spend our money is our business.:rolleyes1 Besides when you really look at a Disney vacation and break it down the cost is really not that bad. Anyways rant over!
