Just wondering how many here use their points on weekends even though the weekends require so many more points?

I do and I don't care. I can't always travel Sunday thru Thursday, and if I am already at WDW I don't to change rooms/resorts to try and save points. Life is too short for me to get hung up on wether a night might be 6 more points.

We also use weekend points... but generally... we will plan a 12 night stay avoiding the two outside weekends and book straight through the middle weekend. Like Tom, we do not want to move.

BTW: I have booked other weekend nights, but it is usually not my first choice.

We purchased enough points to be able to stay on weekend points and not worry about it. It just makes it easier, and we take long weekend trips alot.

We typically do the Sun - Thu routine with a couple days before or after spent visiting national park lands somewhere.

We have used them on weekends on 2 occassions. We dont mind moving so we usually go to a non-DVC resort for the weekend portion. I am a TA so it is economical for us to do it this way. Then on some trips, we can only be gone for 5 nights so that works perfect with the Sun-Thurs. scenario.

Yes, we use points for weekends and I've even begun to invite friends/family for a weekend night, even two.

We always use weekend points. Im on vacation and 5 days goes really fast when you have to unpack and repack and unpack again. I like to free my mind when Im on vacation and staying put for 2 weeks and only thinking of the fun things works for me!

I just average it out over our entire length of stay and most times it is only a difference of 6-8 points more per night. Not worth packing it up and waiting for our room to be ready after 4 pm somewhere else. Also, I add in the tips for moving and the extra worry for our electronics like laptops and cameras.

Also if I get a good room, I dont like to risk moving to a less desireable location which is usually my luck when moving.

Check in for me is very stressful. I worry about if our room will be ready, if not what time, will our request be honored, will we have a nice view, etc. I want to minimize my exposure to that as much as possible. Plus that whole out by 11am thing puts pressure on me too!:rotfl: I know some pack light or pack the night before, but we are a family of 4 and Im not a light packer. I like having the comforts of home and feeling like I am home.

We live 1100 miles from WDW. Long trips or short trips, we dont like moving.

It's funny when you think about it, but there are people that refuse to cook or clean on vacation, but don't mind moving. I'd rather cook and tidy before I consider moving.

We do every trip and sometimes we have two weekends with the five weekdays sandwiched between. We bought the points to use them.

Yup, we use them for weekends - the inconvenience of changing rooms is just not worth the savings to us.

Pretty Much No == We have on a couple of occasions but as a general rule we go Sun - Thurs nights in a 2br at OKW in Adventure and Choice season, The room is 32 points a night more on the weekends than the weekdays and I cant justify wasting the points.

Pretty Much we can get 10 days a use year this way and 2 trips while if we used the weekends we would burn most of our 230 points in one trip. By doing this we can then get an AP take 3 trips in a year , then wait a year and start again - 6 trips out of 3 use years.
Sometimes we will add a night before or after offsite or in a Mod.

If you chose to pay cash w/your 25% discount for the weekends, could you keep your same room?

Yeah but a 2 BR would still run you Over $450 for the night with the Discount when you get in to a Mod for less $150. If we go early (we Drive) one or 2 nights without the Kitchen or Laundry is no big deal , and if we do it after we pack the car up and have one bag for the room. Moving is no big deal.

Most of my trips are over a Saturday and Sunday night only, and it's no use moving for one night so I pay the Saturday points. Besides, the resorts now charge more for Saturday nights.

For the 9 night trip in November, I want the entire trip at BCV because of the proximity to Epcot and the F&W festival, so I am paying weekend points for that, also.

We use our points for weekends. We bought enough points that we don't have to worry about it. We usually book get there on a Saturday and leave the following Saturday.

we too use weekend pts but only for the week nights:rotfl2:

sometimes we do but we like staying at CSR so we do 3 nys there and 5 at BWV when we can

My DH just had this discussion today. We have always stayed over 2 weekends per vacation and used pts but I really wonder if it would be better to pay cash for the weekends? I would just need the guarantee to be able to stay the whole vacation in 1 room. I don't like to move.

our trips are always sun-sat. i'd prefer to stay the whole week, but leaving out one night generally enables us to get a 1 bd instead of a studio.
