Who here uses their points for weekend nights?

We just use the points for weekends too. Again, we bought the points with the intention of using them all every year - so if it makes our life easier to stay put- why not.
We go to WDW to relax, have fun and enjoy ourselves- not to pack and unpack... hee hee. Only 6months to go.....

So far we have not, but plan to on our next trip. I plan on reserving 5 weekday nights at AKV concierge and then moving into a savana view room on Friday and Saturday. I think if we keep using points for the weekend we will have to add on.

We also bought enough points to allow us to stay put on weekend nights - don't consider it "wasting points" when they were purchased with this intent.

Just got back from a great weekend at Beach Club Villas (admittedly, it was a 10 minute drive!) Checked in Friday and came back home this evening. Didn't feel the slightest bit like we were wasting points.

I usually stay over the weekends OP for at least one trip each year. When I'm on vacation, I don't want to have to worry about moving or cutting my trip short to save a few points (I haven't had to borrow since becoming a member). I didn't get points to cause me worry about weekends so I don't.

We always use points for weekend nights, we bought them to use them. :)

We usually stay about 7-8 days so we always have a weekend in there. I do NOT like to change hotels..that is one big pain in the ****.... We stay in one place.

observation: We were at SSR last June. I had to walk back to the front desk to ask a question of the concierge. You can't really see the front desk until you round the corner from the hallway. I came around and realized there must be 70-100 folks in line!! This was about 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. I got in the concierge line...asked what was going on...they said...its Sunday...its always waay backed up on Sunday due to folks avoiding the weekends and big points. It looked like the day after Chrismas at Macy's in the return line.

I YI YI....

<loves her DVC :)

We stayed from Friday-Tuesday on our last trip.

We were really lucky to get a standard BWV studio at 5 months out. I think it was really close in points to the 1 bedroom that we would have gotten otherwise.

We use them. This trip though was for 9 nights, and I ran out of points, so 1 of the weekend nights (out of the 3) was booked on cash. The other 2 were on points. I planned to have points for a full week each year.

We use our points on the weekends too. we bought enough points to stay one week in a two bedroom at the height of the season. We usually only stay on a one bedroom and are able to stay 10 or 11 days instead of just one week.

We use weekend points. When we first purchased, we thought of it as a week of points, and that evens it out more. Then we started staying for closer to 2 weeks, but if we do 11-12 nights with only 1 weekend in there, it saves points too.

Now that we added on, we don't really worry about the weekends any longer. We used to avoid them to maxamize the points, but now we can plan based on our schedule, sometimes we use a weekend night. If anything we'll stay at Hampton Inn or something the first night if we'll end up getting to town late and can find something cheap.

Since we are a 10 hr drive away, we plan on using our points on the weekends, although, just mentioned to hubby today that if we cut our trips to 6nts vs 7 nts, we would not have to bank and borrow points. We are thinking of a June 2010 trip with the family booking 2 - 2bd savannah view rooms. The difference is 160 pts for 1 night.

I totally agree w/tonandrobin - we book for the whole stay - do not mess w/moving resorts. If we were to come Sun - Thurs we would loose all those extra days. We bought extra points just to cover ourselves

But that is really a very pricey alternative. Not something I would want to do after spending all this money on DVC!!!

I'm in total agreement on that. We won't be going twice a year anymore - we've sold almost half of our points, so we'll be vacationing at home more. Plus with the cost of fuel, whether for gasoline for the car or fuel for airlines, it's just too expensive to travel anymore.

I don't need to take family members anymore. I don't need to go more than once a year. I'll use all my points for a single stay.

We purchased enough points to stay a full 7 nights for 2 out of the 5 seasons at any DVC resort with a few extra.

I don't like to move on weekends if I don't have to so it doesn't bother me.

We bought enough points so we could stay for a week in a one bedroom at the times we would normally go. That includes the weekends. I like staying in one place more than moving to save points.

When it is just the two of us, we stay Sun - Thur night in a studio. When we travel with the married family, on a school schedule, we have to have a two bedroom, with a Fri and Sat stay. It, just kills me to spend more, or the same amount of points, for one night than 5 nights cost me, but we are having a family vacation. The next time we take a big family trip, it will be a studio and a two bedroom, the family is growing. I need more points!
