Who here uses their points for weekend nights?

We use our points for weekends. We bought just so we would have the ability to go to WDW whenever we want. Can't understand paying all that money for DVC and then paying cash to stay!

We also use our points on weekends.
While not as good of a value as weekdays, it's still a better value than cash.. :smokin:

we do, only because it costs so much to fly down and we do just one trip per year usually two weeks and I don't want to move around.

Live in Miami, so Weekend Trips are the only thing we do... Friday - Sunday's... Started off with 160 points and just purchased 50 more.

Somehow we're always able to stay 3-4 Weekends in the Year... rather go more times for less days, than less times for longer durations...

Thanks to all of you who use weekend points. I am way to cheap to book weekends with points but if someone did not it would make my reservations harder or eventually more point expensive

I like to drop down to Sanibel for a couple of days so the weekends are perfect for that

I also use my points on weekends. I planned it into my point count so that I wouldn't worry about it. I even have 2 long weekend trips this year.

I do and I don't care. I can't always travel Sunday thru Thursday, and if I am already at WDW I don't to change rooms/resorts to try and save points. Life is too short for me to get hung up on wether a night might be 6 more points.

6 more points?! You may want to check out your planner a little closer.:rolleyes1

We do. We always have at least one weekend within our trip, and I'm not going to switch rooms to avoid the points--- that defeats the purpose of our buying DVC (convenience).

If it's DH and myself we stay the weekend on points, too much hassle for DH to move ;) As the previous poster said DVC is convienience, just call and go! Last time though we flew in on sat and stayed overnight at the airport; we travel from europe and have a long flight and get to Orlando at 7 pm. That worked out well.

If I'm on a solo trip I feel guilty about using the points for the weekend so I'll probably book a value resort for the weekend days and make sure they are at the beginning of my stay.

As long as we have enough points, we just stay through the weekends as well. But if we're running short (like the year we took my parents with us and booked a 2BR), then we'll either move for the weekend or pay cash. :)

We typically take one 10 day trip per year (which covers two weekends) in a 2 BR and another long weeknd in a studio (4 nights). We really dont worry about weekend point increases and figured that in when we purchased.

We use our points on the weekends. I find it hard now to even think about making a cash reservation.

I use them for weekends since i don't waqnt to move or pay cash for something I bought points for. I bought enough points to cover every day I want to be there. All hose nights you end up paying cash for, could be spent on more points to cover those nights and you would own them for 50 years.

One thing we often do on shorter weekend trips is stay in a studio on points.

But for weeklong trips, we go for a 2-bedroom!

I admit, I am a DVC Point cheapskate so I do everything I can to avoid using my points toward those inflated weekend rates. By doing this I'm able to squeeze an extra trip in each year. My DW is a teacher so we are not able to take advantage of the low point seasons. My strategy is to either pay cash at a value or moderate resort on Fri and Sat nights then transfer into my 1br DVC resort Su,Mon,Tue,Wed,Thur. If I'm unable to get a decent deal on a value or moderate I will bite the bullet and stay in a DVC studio over the weekend.

I'm with you. I'm planning to share my points (meager as they are) with my adult children and grandchildren over the years, and the best way for us to maximize their use is to pay cash for a weekend night each trip. Heck, the 72 points I'll save on a 2BR for our family trip next May gets me 6 nights in a studio in September!

If I have the points, I use them. And my DH is a sweetheart and got us enough points to stay on the weekends. :lovestruc

I do and don't care we go for one long trip a year. Usually 2 week in a 1 bedroom than off to Royal Pacific at Universal for a couple of days.

I weigh benefit-cost each time and also consider whether we will need the points later that use year. Lately we've been running a surplus due to other vacation interests and limited time so we've been using points for weekends.

If we stay at DVC lately we use points versus paying, although we've done cash with discount in the past.

We always do. We hate changing rooms. I may consider paying cash with DVC discount as long as it's all linked together and we don't have to change rooms.

We usually stay between 10-14 nights, so it's not usually feasible to only use our points during sun-thurs. But I look at it this way: the low points during the weekdays usually balances out the weekends.
