Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 3

DznyFan, I just got a Pentax K100D. It was about $500 including lens. There were several reasons I went with this one, but it was mostly the image stability in the body. The other DSLR's don't have that and the lenses that do can get pricey. With the Pentax, you have IS with any lens.
I read where there is a new Sony digital SLR that also has the image stabilization in the body. That is a nice feature. With my Canon, if I want image stabilization, I have to buy a lens with IS. And the lenses can get expensive.

Hi Linda, I see you found my Meeses/Mices poll! Yes, that was Lyzzie, and them Emma got in on it too. ;)

Here's the scoop camera-wise. I love my little digital. It's an Olympus, and I've had it for about 4 years. It's somewhere in between a point and shoot and an SLR. 3.2 megapixel, 8x optical zoom. My problem is portraiture. I can override my shutter speed, if I recall correctly, but can't override my aperture so that I can get a nice diffused background. Now, we are going to NYC in a month, and WDW in 3 months, and darling Erin has decided she needs some senior portraiture done in both locations. GREAT! That means I get to pack my 35mm SLR. DH was kind enough to buy me a new body a couple years ago after my old SLR body died. Overuse, I think. My exisiting lenses fit on new body. I've only used it ONCE, and that was for my nephew's wedding last summer. I really DON'T want to spend the money on a new digital, but I'm at a loss. :confused3 I will look over these models ya'll have suggested and see what I like. Image stabilization and high optical zoom are high priorities.

I hadn't heard that, but I don't really read up on Sony's. I spent a lot of time trying to decide between a Canon and Nikon. Then, I read a bunch of posts on the photography board about Pentax. I did a little research and was hooked. The price was great and it allowed me to get a couple other lens. I just found a 50mm 1.4 and am waiting for it to arrive. I searched forever to find this lens, so I am excited to try it!

no I'm not going to spend my tax refund on a new slr...I'm NOT going to do it...

don't mind me...I'm thinking to myself:ssst:

I'm kicking myself. I emailed a friend to see if they'd like to join us and go see Joe Rogan do a stand up show. He was the host on Fear Factor, he did/does stand up too... I've seen him before and he is absolutely hilarious.:rotfl2: They finally got back to me and now its sold out! GRRRR! there was only one show:guilty: darn it!!!!

Hi friends!

I got off work early, so my weekend starts now!!! :cool1:

I have a hard time reading back, so I'm sure I missed a lot, the way you girls (and guys) chat!! :)

Donna, those were some delicious looking doughnuts! Were those Krispy Kreme? I love KK. In Vegas we lived VERY close to one and we were always going down when the glazed doughnuts were hot and fresh off the conveyor belt. Mmmmmmmm!!!

Hey Toot Sweet...sorry I missed you. I did a post and run.

YES...I used to read some of the "other" threads on the community board until this one came around...now I can hardly stay up with it.:confused3

Oh my goodness...I'm just figuring it out...you have another screen name. Did you start the ellipses thread? Ask around(some of the cliqueless convention'ears)...I talk the exact same way I type...never really finishing a thought without a few pauses!:rotfl: It's horrible.:smokin: ( when did the smoking guy make it back to the first page)?:scratchin

Hey...great job on providing that "sweet" little girl of yours with a loving mom.:grouphug:

Yes! I'm Bbgrizzle too, and yes, I was the OP of that thread about the ellipses. I got my first tag from that thread!! :cool1:

Hi lindamonty. Is your name Linda? KKs are hard to resist...until you get sick of them. :)

How are you today?

What kind of old SLR do you have? If it is a Canon Rebel, you can use your old lenses with the new digital body. Same with Nikon. Old film SLR camera lenses will fit.

My older girls are still at school. But Ainslee is watching cartoons.

What kind of work do you do? I am teaching Pre-K. Normally I teach Kindergarten, but we moved here too late in the year to teach K here this year.

Actually, I have a Minolta, Maxxum series. Hmmm... that thought did cross my mind, that way I can use my existing lenses. I had bought a 70 - 210mm that had a lower f-stop at a faster shutter speed than my Minolta 70-220 lens I was using at the time, as I was shooting action indoors no flash. Can't remember the make - got it at Camera Gallery and I spent a buttload of money on it at the time. OK - research time. I guess it would make sense to be able to utilize my underused lenses.

oh how cool! My ds Kenny is in kindergarten. They are so adorable at this age!! He's always adorable to me though:cloud9:

I work in telecommunications now. Our guys install telephone eq. for anyone and everyone. All the major telco's;) I use to do that too, but now I'm in the office. I do the auditing, ap, ar, timesheets, invoicing...you name it.

Kenny is probably watching cartoons too :)

OK. I just looked up the Minolta Maxxum 5D and 7D. :scared1: :faint:
I am not familiar with Minolta cameras as much as Canon or Nikon. I looked for Minolta cameras on ebay. Found a few. Looks like both the 5D and the 7D run about 500 bucks used.

My sister wants to go somewhere for Spring break with her and her DBF and wants me and Steven to go. But where??? Time to do some research.

yeah, I am amazed at what they pick up! He has really surprised me too. When we were at wdw... he would see things all over and tell me what it said. Especially peoples jackets or anything with words:rolleyes1 They're too adorable! Ainslee is very lucky. I'm sure you work w/her quite a bit. I loved that. I worked 3 days a week for his first 3 years. I loved it.

Thanks! Ainslee goes to half-day Kindergarten (morning). After school she comes to my class and hangs out with me. My students have nap time when she arrives, so we have lunch together and then come back to class and I read with her for at least 30 minutes. She loves to read little books to me. Her teacher has no idea Ains can even read yet. They just focus on letters and sounds and sight words. I do that stuff in my pre-K class!!

So, when do you start nursing school? Do you have it all figured out yet?
