I was going to go shopping, but one of the mothers showed up to pick up her son, so I was stuck here!!!!:scared1: :scared:

I think I'd be ok...I've dealt w/a newborn...:rotfl: Blood doesn't bother me itself, the trauma might be a little harder... and things you wanna laugh at:rolleyes1 keeping the straight face...my renter was telling me about this lady came to the ER b/c she was SWEATING... I would just want to say "you're kidding right?" Seeing people w/ telephone poles shoved 1/2 way through their body...that would be harder. You watch some of these shows...and yuck..but I think once you're trained you think differently about it. More problem solving mentality???

tipsy...watch it ;)

have you guys watched wife swap...that crazy lady is back on...this might be entertaining!!!!
That's how I think too. I think eventually you'd get used to it. I don't mean callous(sp?) or hardened to it I mean just better equipped to handle it. I'm with you as far as blood, throw up that kind of thing goes but the telephone pole thing. I just don't think I could handle that. I KNOW I couldn't be an ER nurse. But you'd be surprised what you had to do when you have to do it I guess. Like, when my sister in law was sick with the stomach virus. I was actually in the bathroom holding her hair and the trash bin while she was on the toilet because she couldn't do it herself. Thankfully she doesn't post here. But, what I'm saying is, I never thought I could handle that, but she needed me and I was all that she had and I did it and had no problems doing it.

Tipsy. . . I know, Steven is already calling me out on it. :rotfl: Hey, it's Friday night.

Please don't get too down on yourself! I've been through so many changes in my life that I thought I couldn't take it anymore. But you know what? Something new always comes around the corner when you least expect it! And besides, do you know how many friends you have here?:rolleyes1
Thanks, sewer. You are really sweet.

oh wow...I bet you do need a drink ;)

bummer you couldn't go shopping:guilty:

I think I'll do some tomorrow. Give them haircuts again, disney planning, some more packing...fun stuff:goodvibes lol ;)

sewer...you're right..I've been through a lot of changes too. It is crazy how much your life can change in a short amount of time.

April, you are so right... sometimes we surprise ourselves with what we really can do. I'm pretty confident in that department. I've survived in a field that is 95% all men. You have to prove yourself or you're just gone. I've been doing this for 10 years. You build up confidence in yourself. After awhile, its just another day at the office. Dealing w/the problem at hand ;)

Nope, I decided to take a rain check on my Kahlua. I'm just too tired to bother, and I don't feel like getting up to pee all night. I could never be a nurse for exactly the reasons you said, April: I call it the ick factor. I used to want to be a veterinarian or at least a vet tech, but I realized I can not handle the icky stuff at ALL. I don't even like changing my own kids' diapers! I have the utmost respect for those people who can be nurses and doctors and see and do things on a daily basis that make me think, nope, you couldn't pay me enough. But April, I totally hear you about the sticking a pencil in your eye! That's how my job now is, it is SOOOO boring! I find myself having to talk myself into going into work every day. Two good reasons: money and benefits! And neither of those are all that stellar, but I do think this job could potentially be a good foot in the door to get back into the publishing business. I used to do print advertising, way back BC (before children) when I could work all hours for little pay to meet the tight deadlines. I really need to find a job as an executive admin, but I'm scared to work for one individual as an assistant because if that person loses their job, then mine goes *poof* too.

I was going to say a lot more, but I got off on a rant there and forgot and I'm too tired to go back & read everything. I think it'll be an early night for me - no hooting! My mom is coming over tomorrow to "help" me clean the house in the morning. Please note that I did not ask for this help, and I think my house is fine, but she feels the need so I'm not going to stop her. This cold weather has been killing me and even just leaning over to haul the wet laundry out of the washer hurts enough that I have to go sit down for a while, so I will take all the help I can get. Tomorrow we plan on having a Disney Movie Marathon here at home. Emma has been in a monsters phase - she thinks there are scary monsters everywhere - so we will start with Monsters Inc. I think she will love it!

One more question for Linda. Sorry if I'm being a pain  Did you have a calling to be a nurse or is this something that you thought about later in life?

Like, my sister always knew she wanted to be a teacher since my mom bought her her first chalk board at 8 years old. ~Lucky girl~ Me, I'm still wandering through life. I'm like that song: Everybody's Free

There's a line in that "song" that goes:
Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don't. Yup, that's me. :sad1: But I'm feeling pretty guilty. :guilty:

OK, I think I just need to go to bed.

At 7:15PM, I just NEED to go to bed.

I don't know what's up. I mean, I know I'm tired because it's been a busy, long day but this computer is acting screwey too!! It just froze up. You know where it freezes the whole computer up. So, I had to hit control-Alt.-Delete so that I could shut it down. I get it back up and it's in that stupid wacky display mode.

BUT, while I was back in that mode :sad2: I did snag this info real quick:

So, these are the numbers I was talking about. :teeth:

Boy, I'm really behind, aren't I? :teeth:

Wow. That's interesting. I didn't know you could do that.

Kahlua. So that's how you spell it. :rotfl: Well, there's always tomorrow, Lyzziesmom. :rotfl:

I say, take the help. I've been right where you are with hurting so bad that taking the laundry out of the washer is a chore. I really can feel for you. Sometimes just pulling the heavy, wet clothes out of the washer has given me a headach sometimes turning into migraine so I know Just exactly what you're talking about.

I'm right there with you April. I still have no idea what I want to be when (if) I grow up. The only "calling" I ever had was I always knew I wanted to be a mom, I never really thought I'd need anything else and certainly never imagined I'd have to be a mom AND a dad. I love it, but it doesn't pay well. I have considered going into early childhood education, BUT... I tried going back to school a few years ago and I just couldn't do it, and also, I'm much more patient with my own kids than with other people's kids, and it doesn't pay much. So... back to square one.

I just thought of something... there is a song by Jimmy Buffett called "Coast of Carolina" if you get a chance listen to it.:)

Wow. That's interesting. I didn't know you could do that.
Me neither. :rotfl: Somehow when I ended up in "Switch to Threaded View" under Display mode I was desperately trying to get into our thread.

So, when I went into User CP I clicked onto our "Posts" number (which was like 10,000 something  ) thinking it would take me to the last post but instead it took me to the posters and number of posts they posted.
