Too early for Pumpkin Spice?

Wayyyy……to early for me, but not for someone that loves it regardless what month it is. Fall starts for me when we cover our pool, which will be in the middle of September.

I think you need to do a poll 😎

(firmly in the "it's never too early for fall" camp)

DH and I were on a mustard seed quest the other day (thanks to SIL & 20lbs of cucumbers) and wound up at Fresh Thyme, which is right beside Home Goods. We decided to walk over to look for a crinkle-cut knife. As we walked in the door, we were surrounded by HALLOWEEN. (Pretty cool stuff, too). As we left the parking lot, we drove by Hobby Lobby. I grinned at DH and whispered "I bet it smells like pumpkin spice and cinnamon in there!" He *scowled* at me and drove right by. :rotfl:A couple of days later after I was done canning pickles, I convinced him to go back. Before we even made it in the door, the scents were hitting us. We were surrounded by little fake trees with lights and orange & yellow leaves surrounded us. The whole store was FALL (and the workers were busily putting out Christmas). Thank heavens they have model kits or I'd never get the man in there. We didn't buy anything, but....

I put a pumpkin spice candle melt in the warmer yesterday. :p I mainly did it just to see if he'd notice. He did. :rotfl2:

I apologize... Goodwill this morning 🌄 🌄.. clerk said since July. .... Goodwill sipping is the spice of life

I wouldn’t mind if they would keep the citrus and berry flavors of summer around alongside the pumpkin spice, at least until after Labor Day. But since I love the summer flavors, and don’t like pumpkin spice, it makes me a little angry that the flavors of summer get shoved aside too soon. Why can’t they overlap for a few weeks?
Yes, this.

Also, it feels like we’re just rushing to the next holiday. Gotta get the Halloween stuff up now so we can start putting up Christmas stuff Nov 1 or earlier so we can take it all down right on Dec 26. Look, people like what they like. Whatever. But I want to buy Halloween things around Halloween, in October. Not July. I want to swim in an outdoor pool in July. Drink lemonade. Cook some hotdogs on the grill.

I can understand craft stores needing to put out holiday products early, because you need time to make whatever your craft is. A couple of months lead time is pretty normal for crafting. I am working on making a Halloween costume now, but it won’t be worn until Halloween. If someone is making placemats and centerpieces for Thanksgiving, they might need to start in September. Projects for Christmas could need to be underway around Halloween to be finished in time. When I can only work on items on the weekends, two months is roughly the equivalent of two weeks to create something. That’s not much time.

I don’t consider that to be the same as putting out Christmas decorations at Walmart in August or the holiday foods being out for sale now. Have the pumpkin spice stuff out if you must, but I just want my lemonade and berry pie a little longer please. :sad1: I am not serving pumpkin pie at a Labor Day cookout.
