Ugh, I've got to take a break. I'm sitting here watching the interview of Terri Irwin with the Australian reporter Ray Martin and I'm just crying!!

Terri seems like such a sweet and gentle soul. My heart is just breaking for her.

If you're interested in the link (I got it from another thread here on the Dis) it's here: Terri Irwin interview

OK, I'm going to go watch the rest.

Steve was such a great guy and she is just so strong and sweet spirited.
My heart and prayers go out to her. :grouphug:

This Homecoming is costing me a fortune!! As of now he has 3 different black dress shirts. He measured a 14 1/2 neck and the smallest shirt Macy's had was a 15, we got it just in case we couldn't find anything else. I figured we'd just do the tie tighter :confused3 Then this morning while he was having his testing done I ran to Nordstroms. They didn't have anything in the men's dept so I went to the boys and got him a sz 16 and an 18. So as of right now I have spent $115 on shirts. Then he says he needs a black undershirt so I run to Target to get the t-shirts and new socks.

Then I have to give him money for the pictures they take at the dance plus money for dinner. Oh and I just remembered I have to go pick up her corsage. I thought when I had a boy doing all this it would be cheaper than it was with Bree, (dress, nails, hair, shoes, jewelry etc) nope it's expensive on both sides.

I will post some of the pictures tonight.

I don't know how Matt's testing went. We will meet with her next Sat at 10:30. Has anyone else gone thru stuff like this before? I just hope it helps him when we are all done.

I am reading that extra Stephanie Plum book. It is really cute. It is set at Christmas time and has everyone in it plus a really interesting character.

Hi Michele,

wow, I thought the girls were bad!!! I had no idea the boys would get that specific too. Just wait, I'm sure it only gets better (or worse--whichever way you look at it). ;)
Tell Matt to have fun and be careful!!

Thanks for the input on the Plum book. This will be a perfect plane companion on my trip----hopefully I will be able to hold out until then to open it up!! :teeth:

I'b better get back to my cleaning. :dance3: :dance3:

Just checking in - I always have trouble posting on this computer for some reason... but:

April and Ashley - loved the pics!!! Ashley, you've certainly got some stories from the trip!

Michele - pixiedust: for Matt (and your checking account)

2x2s - YES EE has a chicken exit. Trust me, I've used it.

Hi everybody! I'm sure I missed answering someone's question or comment, and I apologize, but this laptop is possesed.

Hello everyone! :sunny: I am really getting sick of this FL weather. All it is, is heat and sun never catch a break. We went to an outdoor market for fruits, veggies, etc and we left after only stopping by 3 tents bc we were just too hot. :faint:
Soon that may all come to an end Nick got some really good news yesterday and was waiting to tell me over breakfast; we may be going to Minneapolis. :hyper: His company would be giving him a huge promotion, pay for all moving expenses, and pay for us breaking our lease here. It is about a 90% sure deal. The guy they have working in the position Nick would be in has really been "slacking" for the past 2 years and they are planning on letting him go. I have spent all morning looking at Minneapolis on the web. so we are keeping our fingers crossed. This wouldnt be a fast process and Nick says I am acing as if we are leaving this weekend. Of course the one major fallback is school, I would have to withdraw :guilty: (hopefuly I'll be able to at least finish the semester) but the plus side is that there are a couple 2 colleges in Minneapolis that offer nursing and with Nicks promotion I wouldnt have to work which would be great I could just concentrate on school! If anyone has any info theyd like to share on the Minneapolis/St Paul area I would appreciate it. :goodvibes

Michele I am sorry you have to wait that much longer for Blake to come home. Hopefully no more delays. Is Matt getting realy excited for tonight? I remember my first homecoming I went all out like Bree did it was a blast just to get all fancy.

Donna - how are the popcorn sale going? I love the caramel corn its just soo good.

Ash - haha Jeremiah and Nick see to have the same commen bout us spending all our time here, they just dont get it.

Linda - how is Kennys soccer game (I think he had a game today or is it tomorrow)I started giving Nick haircuts to. It is so easy with the electric razors and its better than spending $30 every couple weeks.

April - My aunt has always called me by my middle name,it never caught on and she is still to this day the only one to do so.

Hi Dznyfan, Pozey, Lisa, Kim, 2x, Lyzziesmom, Lets all try to fight the frosty urge pirate:

Jill - my grandparents are in the Minneapolis area and I'll tell you one thing I know... it is COLD!! Totally the opposite from FL. It's nice and very pretty, but it is very cold. It does get hot in the summer though. People there are SOOOO nice, I've always loved when we visit. And the Mall of the Americas is huge and really cool! The Mayo Clinic is in Rochester, pretty close to Minneapolis (my aunt works there) and that is a great opportunity if you are going into nursing. I bet there are great nursing schools in the area. I don't really know too much about the area, but I'm sure you'll love it! If you're lucky you can move closer to the summer so you'll have more time to get used to the weather.

Hi to everyone else, I have to get Lyzzie something to eat before she dies of starvation. I'm fairly certain she won't, but she is not so sure.

HI!!!! :yay: I am back from popcorn selling, pizza eating, wireless router buying, grocery shopping and buying myself 2 new athletic/windsuit type outfits!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
The bestest news of all is my WIRELESS is working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't remember if I posted Nicole's itinerary, I couldn't find it anywhere. Here is today and tomorrow:
*9/30-Saturday
MK day
Dinner at Crystal Palace

*10/1-Sunday
Epcot day
Dinner at Le Cellier

I wonder if Nicole is at the Crystal Palace now? I had better grab my camera! ;)

Linda::I agree with you; there are MUCH worse things we could be doing!! DH make fun of me, but I remind him that if it weren't for him I wouldn't have such technology at my fingertips. Anyway, he can find me if he NEEDS me! :rolleyes1

Michele::I hope Blake makes it home safely. It had to be really dissapointing to hear of the delay.
I'm sending pixie dust for Matt's testing. pixiedust:
Homecoming....that brings back memories! :goodvibes

2x2s::Why are you asking about a chicken exit for EE??? Of course, we wouldn't make you do anything you don't want to do and EE is pretty wild!! :dance3: Is your cleaning don? Big plans for this evening? DH has his slot car racing buddies here tonight, I have a basement full of guys!!

April::You like stale Peeps, too funny!!! I used to save my Easter Peeps until the summer. I hid them in my sock drawer!! :rotfl2:

Precious Pix::You sound excited about moving to Minneapolis. I think I would prefer Florida. Do you like the snow? Is it closer to family? I hope everything works out!!

lyzziesmom::Did you feed poor Lyzzie? Nathan can pretty make a drama out of not getting to eat what and when he wants. Kids, you feed them one day and they expect food the next day too!! Geesh!!

I found out yesterday that our Cub Scout Master and his family are leaving this afternooon for WDW!! I was so excited for them!! They are renting a 4 bedroom house and are being joined by family. I asked if they were going to MNSSHP and she didn't know anything about it. Poor thing, I feel like sitting them down and talking to them, KWIM!

Back from the homecoming picture taking...whew...this is a different set of parents than I'm used to...One of the moms, who is an absolute doll, had to organize everything. She told the kids what order to stand in, get their hands out of their pockets, etc.. then she wanted us to take pictures one camera at a time otherwise the kids would be looking in all directions. She is right but that will take forever!!

This is one of my favorites. My dad came over to tie Matt's tie and then went with me so he could see Matt's date.

this is all of the boys. the oneto Matt's right is his cousin, Blake's sister's son. They are only 5 weeks apart. Matt makes sure everyone knows he is older

Matt and Ashley, she just had brace put on so this was one of the few where she was smiling.

47b6d711b3127cce8d05b70bfe0d00000015108AbtGbdy2Yt-

I love this one...this is one of Matt's best friends. Matt calls his mother "mom"so Ef is his brother. I wasn't quick enough Efrem tried to kiss him when we took the picture.

47b6d711b3127cce8d05b4333f9c00000016108AbtGbdy2Yt-

Ef's mom was the one running this show. We even had to go across the street to borrow a neighbors yard that had more flowers, then we took all the pictures in the driveway :confused3

Kim, Blake's sister, and I will be picking them all up at 10 and dropping them at Applebee's for dinner. Then Matt will be going to Megan's, (the one with the sash, she and Ef were the freshmen court) for an afterparty. I gave him til 1 tonight. She just lives around the corner.

Blake called, he made it to Memphis, and is now on his way back home. :cheer2: He only had a little while to talk, he said he has a lot to tell me when he gets home tonight. Poor thing.

Jill are you sure you want to leave Florida and go to Minnesota? I'm sure it's lovely there but CCOOLLDD!!! I am plotting ways to move to Florida. I'll trade ya!!

Michele, All the pictures are great!!! Matt and Ashley make the cutest couple. I really like the picture of Matt and your dad!! :thumbsup2

April...you're right. I love animals and watching animal shows. Use to watch Croc hunter a lot. Kenny just loves that stuff. Anything w/animals catches his attention. Steve was an incredible guy. I remember them showing her in the hospital showing when the kids were born and Bindi (sp) at their zoo...too cute. She's a smart little cookie too! My heart goes out to her!

Jill, good luck w/the possible move. I'm w/Michele..I'll trade ya :teeth: Ohio can get pretty cold!!! Lake effect snow....YUCK! Yes cutting hair is very easy. I got my cosmetology license when I was 18...but it's easy to learn. Kennys soccer game was ...COLD!!! :) I'll post a few pix. it seems like every game he gets better and more aggressive...so cute!!!

Michele...you are so right...boys can be just as expensive, if not more so. When I'm looking at quads for him and they're oh... $750...and he wants a dirt bike... he's NOT getting both...but then you need a helmet..and pads...that stuff adds up!!! Matts pix are great! He'll have a blast.

Mike is on the phone telling my mom I got all my hair cut off :rotfl: she warned me not to get too much cut off b/c she loves my hair...I did get about 4-5" cut off..but I love it!! Looks great :woohoo:

HI guys :wave2:

Hey all--

It is cold in my house and all of this talk about Minneapolis makes me want some hot cocoa------anyone else??

food_331.jpg

Jill-----boy, talk about one extreme to the next-----Florida to Minneapolis?? You're a brave girl.
I did live in Minneapolis about 9 1/2 yrs ago for my esthetic training at the Aveda Institute. I was there from the beginning of March until mid July. It was cold and lots of snow for a while but I'll tell you, once spring hit, it was absolutely lovely!!!!! The snow was fun too, I'm just not much of a snow person. I like it if you can stay by the fireplace with a good book or someone special.
My whole experience there was probably the best time I have had in my life!!! One thing that I do remember is the people!!! They seriously are some of the nicest, most warm and welcoming people you will ever meet!!! This means alot, especially since you are used to Boca. :teeth: :lmao:
I miss Carabou coffee!!!! And the lakes, and, and, and.
I lived in Hopkins, but fell in love with Edina. The school was downtown so I had a bit of a commute.
One thing I do have to say about the Minneapolis/St. Paul area----culture----you are never at a loss of something to do!!!
PM me for more details------if I can remember----I haven't been back since school----not by choice, just coincidence. I'll come visit!!!! :teeth:
When will this take place??

Donna----no reason about the question of EE. :rolleyes1
Did you sell all of your popcorn???
I got some cleaning done----but mainly tried to just take inventory for my trip. I need to go shoe shopping tomorrow.

Michele---love the pics of Matt and his gang. Brings back the dance "jitters" memories. He is going to break some hearts in his day. What a cutie!!
I'm glad Blake is closer to his destination of home!!

Lyzziesmom----what's for din-din?? Is Lyzzie a picky eater?? Emma?? The only reason I ask is because my niece and nephew went through their chicken nugget stage. Isabella is getting better about trying new things, but Gianni still is a bit stand-off-ish when it comes to new foods. They are 8 (in Dec.) and 5, respectively.

Donna those pictures are great! I sure wish this technology was around when I was in high school, maybe I'd remember more of it. Then again, I'm sure there was a lot I don't really WANT to remember! I only had about 2 pictures from my homecoming, and I have no idea what happened to either of them. Ah well, the poodle hair and purple polka-dot dress are probably better left to the imagination anyway. Cripes, that looks pretty bad written down like that!

Lyzzie saw the pictures of Matt and she said he looks almost like the kid from HS Musical. She thinks he looks JUST like him in the big couch picture. I have to agree! You've got some nice looking kids. Actually, all of us with kids have good-looking ones. (And Ruby is adorable of course!)

Hi Linda,

Kenny looks so focused in his soccer playing. I love watching soccer----probably the only sport I do enjoy watching. I went to a big soccer high school. In fact, many of my guy schoolmates went on to play pro---both indoor and outdoor.
My cousin's son played for a while so I used to go to many of his games. I would love to see Kenny play in person.

I need your corn burner tonight. I am freezing---which is unlike me--usually I'm a hot mama. :teeth: People at work always tease me because they know if I am at an okay temp, then it is cold in the building. :lmao:

Your hair sounds cute. Who cuts yours if you cut everyone elses'??

Speaking of Steve Irwin-----I saw a photo of Terri, Bindi and Bob at the memorial service in People, or Us, or one of those. Terri had dark glasses on and Bindi stood right beside her with her arm around her shoulder/neck just looking straight ahead. Broke my heart!! She looks like such a strong little girl. My heart goes out to them!!

Hi 2xcited  The cocoa looks good although it was very warm today in Tulsa. Tomorrow we might be near a record. They are saying next week will be mostly in the 90's. I wonder if a little of that warm weather will drift your way. I can drink warm beverages year round but they are much more enjoyable when it's cool outside. :thumbsup2

What kind of shoes do you need? I bought some nice leather teva sandels before my trip and they hurt my ankles. I ended up wearing my asics most days. I have a pair of crocs but they are lime green and just too birght to wear. I would like a black pair. :thumbsup2

I think I'll go back and see what everyone is up too...just happened to catch this lovely cocoa pic when I signed on.

:wave2: Howdy to all my cliqueless friends.

We DID all get lucky with that didn't we?? If we do say so ourselves!! :cool1:

I have to go in a minute and pick them up from the dance and drop them at dinner. Blake called he is at Detroit Metro waiting for his luggage, so he should be home soon!!! And my mom just called and said she is home too!!

My brother is a cop in Royal Oak where the train station is at. She was met at the station by my dad and then my brother pulled up in the squad car to see her. I bet that raised a few eyebrows!!!

Oh I finished the Visions of Sugar Plums book. It was good and a nice treat while waiting for the next one but...it was a little weird  You will have to read it to see what I mean :confused3

Yes and not really. Lyzzie is very picky - she is vegetarian.... except for the occasional popcorn chicken (which she thought was actually popcorn for a while!) or nugget, but only if there is a toy involved. Besides that, she changes her mind hourly as to what she does/doesn't like. I'm probably even pickier than her though, although more consistent, so it doesn't bother me too much. Emma will eat almost everything, but she too will suddenly turn up her nose at something she ate earlier the same day.

I'm working on a photo book. I got a code for a "free" printed photo book so I'm going to give it a whirl and see if it's really free and if it works. I'm trying to find enough pictures of the girls together. It's sad, in about a year's worth of photos I could only find about 18 of the 2 of them together that are printworthy. I will have to work on taking more pictures of them together!!

Yay, Blake and MImom's mom is back!!! Yes, I'm sure that got a couple of looks. At least he didn't cuff her. :rotfl2:

Did you like Visions or was it disappointing?? No, wait, don't tell me. Does it tie in to any of the series??
I wonder how long it will take for #13 to come out.
I am planning to re-read #12 this week during my treatments then pick up Visions for my trip. I hope I like it.

YM---hey chickie!!!
yep, for some reason I am cold but it really is not too bad outside. We are supposed to get back up into the high 80's through the week.

I don't know what I am looking for in shoes. I wore Nike barefoot tennies last Feb. They were really comfortable but I rubbed some blisters. I was thinking about Privas?? or Keens??---I'll have to look around. I need something that will look okay with my long jean skirt at the parks because for some reason, I live in that skirt. I will also bring some jean capris and maybe khaki capris. I don't like shorts on me, so I pretty much live in skirts and jeans.
I also need some little ballet flats possibly for some skirts that I will be wearing to dinners, etc. I think it is too late in season for flip-flops, even though they pretty much always wear them in South Florida.
I saw some cute Mephisto flat/tennies but they had a cute price on them as well. :furious:

Lyzziesmom----believe it or not, my neice just started eating noodles with butter-----she will not try any other sauce. We're Italian, what's up with that??
One thing that both of them like is steak---but listen to this one---the way they like it is cut up with a little pile of salt to "dip" it in. YIKES---be prepared for high blood pressure. My mom had a tizzy when she saw this. My sis needs to cut back on this. What was she thinking?? Yes, she started it to get them to try it.????? She's somewhat of a health nut too---at least she talks the talk. :confused3
My cousin's kids will eat everthing---even when they were very young. Salad, pasta, anything.
I know my sister sometimes feels like a short order cook---making things she knows they will like and eat. My mom's phrase when we were growing up----
"If you don't like it, eat what you brought along."

Hey Donna... I guess we can't call you Betty anymore if you've gone wireless. :teeth:

My neighbor called me about 10x last week because she was freaking out the Animal Kingdom was full Thanksgiving week. They've been saving for this big WDW trip for two years and she's just now booking....now let's not even talk about dining. She thinks her daughter wants to have a princess character meal...I told her they book those meals 6 months out. Ok...enough said.

Linda...I enjoyed the pictures of Kenny. Hope you enjoy your new haircut.

lyzziesmom....so Lyzzie likes fruits and veggies. That's a good food preference these days. :Pinkbounc

2xcited...funny story about the salt and steak. I've heard that kids like to dip but that's the first time I've heard about salt being used as a dip :rolleyes1 I bet they don't get much more salt than what's in a hot dog...but I'm not sure about starting that habit. My kids aren't that picky but they both have some quirks. My youngest doesn't eat many fruits and NO tomatoes...which I cook with...but he will eat onions on hamburgers and hot dogs...chili etc. My oldest loves fruits but he complains about the dinners I make. I like to make one dish meals and casseroles or a simple meat, veggie, and fruit. I never short order cook but I make sure there is something that they like on the table. I always let them choose what they want for breakfast and lunch. :)

Hi everyone :wave2:

We just got back from dinner and renting a movie from Hollywood Video. We're disappointed because the Blockbuster right down the street from us closed, even while we still had movies rented out!! We had to drive across town to the other Blockbuster to return them, it was really annoying.

We went to Don Pablo's for dinner, and had a horrible experience I would be happy to never think of again.

I wanted to rent the movie The Lakehouse with Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock but they had none (and it was guarenteed in stock?? so they gave me a raincheck to rent it for free the next time I'm there- that was exciting!!) I ended up renting Robin Hood with Kevin Costner! I haven't seen that movie in a long time, Jeremiah & I are about to go watch it. Anybody remember the scene where they show him nude? :rolleyes1

I hope everyone had a nice Saturday. This cold weather is depressing me! I had to get out the jeans and long sleeve shirts today. And I have to go buy some socks tomorrow!! sigh..I love flip flops, I wish I could wear them all year round!!!
