April - Happy Anniversary!!!

Yolanda - I'm really sorry that things didn't work out as well as they could have at your meeting with the Principal. Hopefully it will pass and there won't be another incident.

Linzy - it's sad to hear that TDS is falling away from it's roots. Not surprising, but sad. Surely you can find something else, and not necessarily in retail! Sounds like April had some good advice.

2X2s - you were obviously NOT 2xcited2slp!!! Yea for good rest.

I don't have any good stupid jokes. I am the world's WORST at remembering jokes - good, bad or otherwise. sorry, fresh out.
OK - except one..... and NO OFFENSE to anyone with a fair hair color..... (that was my disclaimer...)

What do you call an intelligent blonde???

A Golden Retriever!!!

OK, I'll just leave now....

This is me, backing out of the thread....

Going now...

Good Morning!

Thanks for breakfast Donna!

Lin- :grouphug:

April- Happy Anniversary!

2X- That Tink ornament is so cute!

Yolanda- That's too bad the meeting didn't work out.

I had my first cake decorating class last night. It looks like fun. I have to have a cake baked and iced by Monday. So I need to go to the craft store after school to get some supplies.

In line with yesterday's QOD, I have been recieving jokes on my phone daily. They are REALLY bad. Like not even funny bad. The last few were:

How is advertising like matrimony?
It can make people live beyond their means.

Bad chickens lay what kind of eggs?
Deviled eggs.

How do you make a hot dog stand?
Take away its chair.

And so on and so forth. I had a high school English teacher who was fond of this one:

How do you make a hormone?
Don't pay her.

And that's enough of that.

Lin, I agree with everyone else. Your current experience might be in retail, but being in management or assistant management is a HUGE plus when looking to transition to other arenas. I would suggest just applying for different kinds of jobs whether you think you are qualified or not, you never know what you might end up with! Our new HR lady comes from a retail background, she worked management in a large chain department store and worked her way into HR within the store before coming here. Communication, computer skills, people skills and organization are all the important skills in my job as an administrative assistant, which can be done in ANY industry. Another suggestion would be to go to a temp agency, that way you can get a feel for different types of jobs and industries while gaining experience at the same time. If you can find a good agency, it can be a lot of fun! I did that for several years on & off and loved it, the experience I gained there was invaluable. Ok, I'm done preaching now. I hope your job situation gets better soon either way, because it's almost Christmas!! (maybe you are just feeling some holiday burnout?)

April: Happy Anniversary!!

2x: A full night's sleep? What's that? I almost overslept this morning, just could not drag myself out of my nice warm bed. Emma had to wear her same clothes from yesterday, which she actually slept in because dang it, the girl suddenly outgrew all her foot pajamas! The ones that do fit are at my mom's house. We were running entirely too late for me to try to find some warm clean clothes for the poor girl. She didn't mind.

Must get back to work, the boss arrives from IL today along with the head HR lady who I have only met over the phone, and they are taking me and the new local HR lady to lunch.

Don't know what we're doing yet. Probably just go out to dinner tonight.

Oh, and it's also Walt Disney's birthday. DH, declares I planned our wedding to fall on Walt's birthday but I can assure you I didn't. Honest Engine. Well, really, I'm signing off. Over and Out!
Happy Anniversary April!! party:

Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!

Mike bought it (the 2 disk version). I can't wait to watch it.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I really appreciate everything. April, I think my dad has that book. I recently wrote a new resume with the help of one of my old managers but I know I need more than that. Part of it is Holiday burnout. General Growth Properties (who owns our mall and most DFW malls) has the worst holiday hours this year and they certainly don't help my satisfaction level. But, truth be told things under TCP have gone downhill over the last year. The first year looked like it would be a great new company to run the stores...but now its just not what they promised us. I've been feeling very discontent for the last 6 months or so. Part of me does want to move to WDW but a large part of me doesn't. I want to go be a character, only I know what they would start me at and its not enough to make ends meet in any way unless Chris gets a HUGE raise; the hourly rate is half what I make now. I guess we will wait and see. Lots of prayers are being said! Either way, I REALLY appreciate your advice and have taken much of it to heart.

Keagansmom, so sorry your meeting didn't go as planned! My mom is a school nurse and she sees problems like this a lot. Her school principle is hardly ever there and she winds up dealing with most of the kids. They all love and trust her and I told her what happened. She said that that Sub had no business being in a school setting if she was uncomfortable dealing with the issue when it occured. Bottom line, your sons skin was broken so obviously something happened. I would ask the teacher to pay close attention to the kid that you suspect did it.

2x, the way you describe the add-on, make money at all costs company is exactly what we have become. Good thing I have a background in acting to help me keep my giant goofy smile while in the company of guests.

April, Happy Anniversary! Have a wonderful time in WDW! Go eat at Raglan Road if you get a chance!

Donna, I hope Nathan feels better!

Alright, I have the most pathetic puppy face staring at me...I best play with Minnie a little before I attempt to go Christmas shopping for my impossible to shop for husband.

Thanks again everyone!

Oh, man I screwed up today.

I got an email from my DSS's girlfriend - we had been going back and forth regarding Christmas presents for DH and DD, and for her and for DSS. She mentioned that DSS really was wanting an OU 2006 Big 12 Champion shirt - so I forwarded it on to his dad - my DH. It still had all the old conversations regarding what they were getting him and the Sirius radio I was getting him for Christmas!!!!

I didn't realize it when I forwarded the email - I'd forgotten about all the other conversations! I get this email back from him: "You shouldn't have forwarded me that email!!"

Oh POO!

Surprise!! (a little early)

Sorry the surprise was spoiled.

DznyFan... you can always do what I was threated with growing up, if you find out what your presents are going to be, then you won't get them! Or, just ask your DH to act surprised. Email can be very tricky sometimes!

Or you can be like my DW......

When she finds a GREAT gift for someone.........she can't contain her excitement, and ends up telling them what she got for the before Christmas gets here.

Case in point......this year, she got Colton and Chase an EBox 360 game system. She was so excited, she told Colton about it. Now, Colton was sworn to secrecy not to tell Chase. And he has kept his promise.

I'm sure he'll act surprised. I guess all in all, it wasn't such a bad thing (except I love the surprises on Christmas...), because he said besides the fact that maybe the surprise was blown, it really put him in the Christmas spirit because he got a glimpse at the "behind the scenes" action for Christmas.

I guess I'm kind of like Disney - nobody ever sees the magic get accomplished - it's just there.

You've learned well, young grasshopper.

Ssssslllloooowwww thread today!

Donna, I almost did that yesterday. I got Chris a new Foreman grill for Christmas on Amazon and I didnt' realize I was signed into his account until after it had sent the email. Luckily I went to his email account and it was amazingly signed in, forwarded the email to myself and deleted it from his inbox and sent mail account.

I went shopping today for Chris and found basically nothing. I bought him some shirts at Old Navy because they were on sale for 10.00 each and that is all I accomplished in 4 hours of shopping.

I'm off to make some spaghetti!

OMG!! You wouldn't have believed how yesterday went!!!

I left home around 3 to pick Blake up from the airport. Took about 45 minutes to get there, it started snowing and blowing. It was really scary for a while. I get there, miss the turn for short-term parking and have to circle the airport. Blake calls and says he has landed but they had a medical emergency on board and they have to wait for EMS to off-load the gentleman and his family first. I find my way, get to baggage claim and wait for him. He finally shows up!!  And we wait for his luggage, and we wait and wait. 45 minutes later we come to the realization that there is no luggage :furious: Yep, they lost his luggage. The luggage that has the souveniers and Christmas presents for the kids that he bought in Australia and can't be duplicated. So we get on the road at 5. We pull in the driveway at 8pm. It took us 3 hours to get home!!! I-94 didn't get over 5 miles an hour. At about the 2 hour mark we saw the exit ramp for a road we could take home and figured we'd get off the freeway. Well we got off and immediately proceeded to get lost. We were driving around the not so great streets of downtown Detroit, at night, in the snow! Not a fun thing to do! We kept circling and didn't even know what direction we were headed. It got so bad we stopped and asked directions from a homeless guy :rolleyes1 He got us back to the road we needed; which was going a whopping 10 miles an hour! Matt called to ask if we were driving back from Australia!! :lmao:

The good news...his luggage was delivered to the house this afternoon  The kids were excited!

Matt had his first basketball game this afternoon. They lost 40-32. It was their first game playing together. Hopefully they will get better. Matt did well, tho.

Thanks for the new Christmas Card list.

Have a great night everyone!

Happy Anniversary April :cheer2:

Yolanda...sorry the school visit didn't go as planned. That had to be frustrating! Glad the sub won't be back either.

pozey...me too... blonde, and don't like the dentist :teeth: I wanted to go buy poc today but got too busy. That is too cool your dw told Colton about the xmas gift ;) I'm just as bad about that. too excited to keep it too myself :rolleyes1

We have auditors in today- Thursday  Our company is ISO9000 certified but we're now going for TL9000 certification...so they were in auditing us. Making sure we follow all the proper "processes"...no biggie but still annoying.

Dznyfan.... oops!!! dh found out early...but it'll be ok :smooth:

lyzziesmom...I think I will have to do that...let Mickey leave a message for him. :woohoo: That is better than no call at all!

2x...yay.... you finally got some much needed rest :cloud9: Now I've got the cha cha slide in my head :rolleyes1 "how low can you go"

Nicole... your first class :woohoo: that sounds like so much fun!!!

Hey there Lin...Mike made spaghetti too :) Yummm!

Have a good one everybody!

Michele :grouphug: omg...what a trip! Glad you're both home safe and sound and the luggage made it back........ eventually. I'm sure he has some exciting stories about Australia to share w/you. That had to be incredible

Matt...good luck at your next bb game :cheer2:
