with the airline prices? Still waiting patiently for summer rates from SWA! :dumbo:

I'm frustrated with myself for not buying tickets for August and October when I was satisfied with the rates from my home airport!! Went to WDW a couple weeks ago 'for the weekend'. When I left, the prices were acceptable - not cheaper but acceptable. Still cheaper to fly from another airport, but I can't justify. I'm only going to be gone a few days, I'll worry about it when I get back home. Yeah right! Come home just 3 days later and the prices shot up $70. So it's nearly $200 to fly into Sanford. Not something I wanted to do, but it might come down to it.

There's nothing unusual about Southwest this year. You can normally only book around 4-6 months out. The good news is that Southwest's flight schedules normally don't change after they're released. In comparison, my upcoming Delta flights have changed about a half dozen times since I booked them.

The airlines are trying to raise fares. Even Southwest seems to be offering fewer seats at the lowest promotional fares.

On SWA via Ding I got $87 rt non stop from Columbus to MCO over Spring Break. The deals are out there. I still am pinching myself over this one.

If you are willing to be flexible and fly into an airport close by but not your first choice your chances are better for getting a good deal.

My uncle just flew in Jan from San Diego to Columbus. We ordered his ticket the day of and it was $264 on SWA with one stop over. We were amazed at how cheap it was. This summer I flew out there for $411 and it was planned in advance.

I join you in frustration. I want to fly out of Duluth, Mn or MSP. I wish I could take advantage of DING, but don't have it here. I am scared that prices are never going to come down for our June trip.

I'm with you! We are trying to go in December from Chicago OHare (Southwest only flies Midway and it is way to far from here!!!) and the best I can do is $200 a person during Pop Warner week or $267 a person the week after thanksgiving or the week after Pop Warner. I have my fingers crossed that we can get that $200 for a different week....

Where in the Chicago area do you live? We live near Gurnee and it's going to be so worth it to drive down to Midway for a cheaper SWA rate. :thumbsup2 A friend of mine says we shouldn't have to pay more than $600 for 4 people. From O'Hare, I'm pricing it about $850-1100 for the 4 of us. I think it's worth the drive down to Midway.

Label me frustrated...

I'm waiting with bated breath for SWA to extend. My goal is to find RT airfare for DW & I for under $200/pp. Think I can do it? I'm also picky about flight times, so...

We too are flying out of ORD for an annual Thanksgiving trip. Lat year we got non-stop AA flights into Tampa that week for $160 each and the same flights this year are over $400. Last month I found Midwest Airlines out of MKE for $165, but they were gone the NEXT DAY and now $260. There are seven of us going, and I hate Midway, but I am getting nervous about flight prices. Anyone from Chicago having any better luck??? And do you really think SWA will have decent fares for Thanksgiving??

I was looking for under $200.00 for my Sept trip. I found US Air direct out of Charlotte, NC for $225.00 and booked it. My usual standby airport is over $350.00 but its a delta hub and Delta scares me right now.

I think we are all spoiled as of late.
I 'm also use to flying under $200 all of last year and that was 4 trips total 2 WDW 1 DL 1 non Disney.

So when I missed the opening flights of SWA (didn't get on-line until noon :furious: ) I was not happy but took the $250 flights as the times will give us a good bit of time both travel days in the parks .

It helped a little that I fly free for this one ( RR ) But I will keep looking everyday and wait for a DING.

I'm just glad I'm saving all that money elsewhere with DVC and PAP's :lmao:

Well, I paid $216 with SWA. That's the same price I paid in '04. I didn't quite make my goal, but I'm very happy. :thumbsup2

Goofy,
I would watch closely over the next few days... NW seems to have reached an agreement with their pilots and FAs. It may be that they have a "sale" to try to reassure the public that everything is OK> (Rumor is that bookings have been down recently due to the "Strike" rumors)

Don't mean to be a pessimist, but airplanes need fuel to fly, fuel prices are not dropping, so that means airplane tickets prices are not going to drop. Just have to plan a little more in the budget for each trip. JMO

Question when will SW release the dates for October??

And am I better to book one way tickets when they release my date for October and tehn book a one way for my return in Nov.??? Or book a total ticket..But if I do that then do I loose money or am I taking a risk by not doing one ways??? Never used SW before always delta and now without Song I have no choice...
thanks

With 8 of us going over Thanksgiving, I've been dreading this purchase. But I called Midwest Airlines this morning and got a Group rate flying out of Milwaukee of $190 r/t, n/s, all fees included. Fully refundable too up to 60 days prior!

I can relax!!!!!

wish they were here in hartford, ct ..
