who hasn't gotten their "guaranteed" connecting room

I have noticed on the DIS various comments about people being told their rooms were guaranteed connecting because they have kids and then I have seen others who were told that connecting rooms are just a request and not guaranteed. When making our res. for 2 rooms at AKL for June, I was one of those told my rooms were guaranteed connecting because there were kids with us (says it on the confirmation paperwork as well). Anyway, for those of you who were TOLD your rooms were GUARANTEED connecting, did you ever NOT get the connecting rooms? Just wondering if Disney is carrying through with this or is it another example of CMs not knowing what they are talking about.

I think they will guarantee you get one if they are available. But at times they are just not available. The only time they will absolutely make sure is when one adult is in the party.

I was told that the connecting rooms are guaranteed if there are minors in the party. Asked 3x just to be sure. We had no problems with our connecting rooms.

We've never been told it was guaranteed, but we've gotten connecting rooms every time we requested them.

Three years running, at three different resorts (AKL, Swan, WL) we have asked for and received connecting rooms. My mother stays alone in the second room. Each time we were told it was NOT a guarantee, presumably because Grandma is not a minor, LOL!

When you make any reservations anywhere at Disney, they always tell you your requests are not guaranteed, but in our many, many trips over many, many years, we have always received our requests.

See this is one of the reasons why I wonder if it is CMs giving out mis-information, because the CM who made my reservation for me was very clear that because there are 4 kids in our group that we were guaranteed connecting rooms (and as I mentioned before it states it on our confirmation letter). He never asked who was sleeping where. It won't be the end of the world if we dont' get the connecting rooms, it just would be really nice and make things a lot easier.

I totally agree. The problem is what CRO says will happen and what actually happens at the resort are not necessarily the same thing. Just make sure you make this your priority request and not any others.

I have had guaranteed connecting rooms many times and have always gotten the room...what I will find will happen is I might go to check in earlier in the day and they will tell me there is do not move order on my rooms and they can't give me anything than has what has been assigned and those aren't ready yet. I understand that just means they have blocked out the connecting rooms for me and those are the ones I will get period.

I would not worry about it at all.

When I put my request in for connecting rooms I mentioned to the CM that I know they cannot guarantee it. The CM then said that they guarantee a connecting room when the other room is for children (my children are actually teens). Guarantee connecting room is also on my confirmation.

At this point if I show up and we don't get a connecting room - I'll drop the second room and save lots of money (one teen sleep walks).

they will guarantee connecting room because they will not have a room with no one 18 in it. I went with my Dh 17 and her friend last august and did not want to share a bathroom with them, so the rooms had to be connecting which is what I wanted anyhow.

We were not told that ours was guaranteed and I did not get them one time. We were offered different rooms for the next day and we did move. I think they try but it doesn't always work out. While it was a inconvient to move I was glad we did, my parents were in the connecting room with my son. DD stayed with us, they do not like to share a bed.

If they say (and it will be on your confimation) guaranteed, they will be. It's like my smoke free room because of asthma. It's guaranteed. The room controller will take that into consideration. I tried to get a guarantee for my sister's first trip, that as a solo she would be connecting, and they said no, she didn't meet the criteria. We still got adjoining, and that was fine.

If it's just parents with minor children, they guarantee connecting rooms. We done this several times. They cannot have just minor children in a room by themselves.

Years ago , I used to get connecting rooms and never had a problem until 1995. We arrived Friday before Easter late in the evening for 2 connecting rooms at Dixie Landings for 8 nights, 2 adults 4 kids. They had no connecting rooms left. In fact, they did not even have 2 rooms on the same floor. We said we really needed 2 connecting rooms. They did some checking and told us they had 2 connecting rooms at another hotel and would we mind switching but still paying the same price. We reluctantly said yes. The SOB's gave us two connecting rooms in the Grand Floridian. Never had that good fortune again.

On our trip in Dec. we had connecting rooms "guarrenteed" according to CM at CRO due to children in second room. At check in I was told they did not have any and could not do anything about it. I just said that CRO said I would have it. After just repeating this several times the CM went into the back room and a superviser came out and upgraded us to a savanna rooms that were connected. Got what we needed but had to push for it.

It depends on your party mix.

Three adults and two children would be a request.

Two adults and 3 children would be guaranteed if the room only slept four. If the room slept five it would be a request.

Thanks for all the replies. Just wanted to see what the general experience was out there. We will just wait and see, not much I can do about it right now. By the way, it was the CM who told me about the guaranteed connecting rooms before I even had a chance to ask. But lke I said it won't be the end of the world if it doesn't happen, because it will be 2 adults and 2 kids in one room and 1 adult and 2 kids in the other, so there will always been an adult in each room (we are a group of 2 families).
