Ok, there are all kinds of internet contests, sweepstakes, etc.....I think they are a scam. Tell me about your winnings, if you say they aren't. Just look at the top of the DIS, pop a bubble thing. Hmmmmmfffffffffffff, never won any.

I do sweeps as a hobby when I have some extra time and have won some prizes. I usually only enter at national and/or big company sites. Biggest prize I won was a trip to D.C. for 2 adults for 3 nights. Worth about $4000. I also won a home theater system from Drypers, $500 Spa Wish gift certificate, lots of toys and other smaller prizes. Still aiming to win a Disney trip or cruise!

I won $100 from a radio station once. I just walked into the grocery store where I always shop and they chose me to be the winner?? They asked me who my favorite radio station was and I had to look at their logo, I didn't want to tell them I listen to Ocean 104...the classical station.

I wish I could win a trip to Disney:D

I'm not much into sweepstakes and contests but having said that....a few years ago I went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. At the checkout counter was a pad of entry forms to win tickets to a Winston Cup race. I filled ONE out, paid my bill, and left. Imagine my surprise a month later when I got the phone call! It was a great experience that DH and I still talk about.

Oops--I just reread your original post. INTERNET contests. Oh well, that's what I get for DISing when I should be cleaning! Lewski, I'm with you on this one--I am very skeptical about the internet sweepstakes!

I won a trip to LA last year. I win a lot of small things like t-shirts, beach towels, mp3 player etc...I get about 2 unexpected boxes on my doorstep a month.

I won a Blues Clues Thinking Chair about 5 years ago from a web site. It's a NICE chair - not flimsy at all. It's held out against 3 brutal kids better than our couch.

I have won lots of stuff via contests on the internet. Not the one at the top of the boards, but several movie packages from a local TV station when I lived in AZ, a College Football Champiaonship ESPN hat, and the best one was 1st place in the HP Mission:Space Sweepstakes, I won a laptop and a combo printer/.FAX.Scanner/Copier. ThHe bad thing about winning prized with a retail value of over 599.00 is that you will recieve a 1099 income statement and you will owe income tax on the value. I doubt that I would have paid $1500.00 for the same stuff in Circuit City or Staples, but as I was not looking to buy one, it worked out OK anyway.

I don't know if I would like to win anything as valuable as the Disney World Vacation package, they usually have ARV of 4 to 5 thoushand, and as I am retired, I can't afford the taxes!

I won an Intel digital camera once. I think it was worth about $100.00. I also won a St. Paulie Girl beach chair with an attached umbrella and two soft side coolers! They were both through internet sweepstakes.

Hey! Congratulations. I wondered if any DIS people won anything from that contest - I tried to enter but never got past the qualifying round with the little codes they had you enter.

I know someone who won a TV contest, the kind where you write in. She won a house in Spain!!

I've never won that type of contest, but I did a win a national girl guide (girl scout for you guys!) cooking competition when I was 13. I won a weekend in London and went to see west end shows, museums etc and ate at fancy restaurants. Also when I was 17 I played in an Orchestra and we won a TV music competition.

I've won quite a few things in internet sweepstakes, mostly instant wins where you play and they tell you right away if you've won. My daughter just got a bag of Neutrogena Cosmetics from Seventeen Magazine that I entered for her on-line. My bigger prizes come from mail-in sweepstakes, I've won a trip to France, a big screen TV for my Brother-in-law and that same BIL just won a trip to the Bahamas. My mother-in-law won a $1000 KMart gift card and I've gotten lots of other prizes, a Playstation2, games, t-shirts, hats, NASCAR diecasts, cash, gift cards, etc. If you really want to see a bunch of winners go to http://www.online-sweepstakes.com/ and read their forums, especially the win section. There is a whole culture surrounding the entering of sweepstakes and a lot of people who do really, really, really well. There is even an annual convention with as many as 500 people showing up every year. For me, I figure if I cover the cost of postage I'm doing well ;) Most sweepstakes you find on-line are not scams.

I did...it's how I wound up on the Dis...won the trip through Kodak, and was so excited - obviously;)...did a search on the net because I couldn't wait for the bookstore to open up in the am!! so we could start planning, and here we are...

We got a weeks accomodation at the Deluxe of our choice - picked the Polynesian because that's where I wanted to stay as a kid (instead of the Day's Inn LOL!!!) - 5dayPH for the four of us, airfare for four and spending $...

Bought DVC and haven't stopped entering contests since...:D :D

:sunny:

I've won some small stufff in online contests: $25 Pier One Gift Certificate, $75 worth of Redken Salon products, Kobe Bryant basketball shoes (destined for an eBay sale), and some Scooby Doo Movie trinkets.

I have better luck in person. At fundraising events I have won a Phillips DVD Player (when they first came out and cost $$$), a week in Bermuda (could not use it) and a 2-pound box of Godiva Chocolates. I won the door prize (a book) at a business seminar last week.

I won $1000 on a scratch off lottery ticket in 1999. The only problem with that is the PA lottery published my name on the internet (they do that for winners of $1000 or more). Would you believe that people called my house asking for a loan? Goodness. It's just $1000. How stupid.

Once I won 4 tickets to Busch Gardens in Virginia.

But my best prize was... a can of spam from my friend's church raffle.

I won a Yahoo online contest once. The prize was a $1000 gift certificate to CDnow.com. It was great! I was able to get tons of CDs and movies.

Dang! You guys have won some cool stuff!!!
I've won pens several times (good pens, DISNEY pens! LOL) and I've won tshirts before.
My biggest win so far is a round trip airline ticket to Australia and spending money.

The only thing I've won on the internet contests is a t-shirt and a few bucks. And I've entered thousands of them.

But at a church festival, I won their grandprize. A trip for 2 to the 1995 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Airfare, tickets to three events, lodging, and spending money. Meals were included too if we ate at our hotel. It was awesome! A great memory!
