Who has the oldest grandparent?(dead or alive)

In terms of age difference.

My grandfather was born in 1885. He was 48yo in 1933 when dad was born. I was born in 1968.

1885-1968= 83 years.

If grandpa was alive for my HS graduation, he would of been 101 years old. If he were alive today, he would be ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE YEARS OLD.

This is my grandfather, not great or even great-great.

Do I win? LOL

My grandmother was born in 1895 and my grandfather was born in 1883. Their oldest child is now 90, my other aunt 85 and my dad 73.

My son's great great grandfather died when he was 11 months old. What an amazing man. I met him when he was 92 and he died a few months short of 100 which would make him 115 now if he had lived.

The amazing thing the program said he was survived by:

12 Children
97grandchildren
110 Great grandchildren
and

177 Great Great grandchildren!!!!!

When I went to the funeral someone asked me about my son and I said "he's one of the 177..."

My grandmother was born in 1896. She died when she was 91, my mom was 61 and I was 31.

Man, it'll be HARD to beat this!! My dad was 83 when he died and 73 when my son was born. Wow!

My grandmother was born in 1901 and died in 2006 at the age of 105.

Well, lets see...my grandfather on my mothers side died when he was 76. He died the year I was born, almost 60 years ago. That would make it 136 years old. My great-grandmother on my mothers side was 99 (two days short of 100) when she died some 54 years ago or 154.

My great-grandparents on my fathers side both died in the same year at the age of 99. I don't know when they passed away but it was before I was born, so you can do the math on that one.

My paternal gma and gpa are 90 and have been married 65 years. They both still live in their own home. My gma's mom lived to 102...mean old Sicilian ladies are pretty hardy!

There is such a wide range, age wise, of posters on here that I could not compete.

For my age group, my grandfather was always considered pretty old! He was born in 1901. He passed away in the mid/late 80's. He was older when my dad was born in 1949. He was a Navy pilot and I always wanted to follow in his footstep. He founded our local airport in MA and was the GM for many years. When I was in HS, the current GM, know of him and he was very well respected in the area. The current GM and AGM would take me up in their private planes and let me fly!! I still want to take lessons once we are done having kids and they are a bit older.

I had fairly young grandparents. I was born in 1967. My maternal grandmother was born in 1919 and my maternal grandfather was born in 1917. My paternal grandmother was born in 1914 and my paternal grandfather was born in 1911.

All I know is that my paternal grandmother is 93 today.

I'm only in my 30's so clearly my grandparents weren't born in 1850 or something LOL. But that would be cool if they were LOL!


My grandfather was born in 1912 and is getting ready to turn 96 this summer!!! I think that's pretty dang impressive!

Sorry, got you beat. My dad was born in 1921, and his mom was 45 years old at that time.
So if she were alive today, she would be 132 YEARS OLD.
