The Doctor gave us our clomid perscription today, and I am SO NERVOUS!

We have wanted number 2 for a while now, a long while, but now that it is more OFFICAL, i have a thousand things running through my head.

What are your experiences with CLOMID??
He gave us 100 mg.
Also I am on Progesterone and gave us some sort of cream to use before intercourse i think it is progesterone cream as well. I AM SO NERVOUS. Was anyone else like this??

:confused3

Who has been on CLOMID???

If my wife asks, I dont know a girl named Clomid...

Just kidding of course, good look.

It's how our 2nd daughter was even possible! I didn't have any creams with it, just the Clomid. No side effects, it finally took on the last dose my ob would prescribe before sending me to a Reprod Endocrinologist. Obviously, we'd highly recommend it!

Well...the first round of Clomid went well, but I miscarried (NOT due to the Clomid.) The next round worked as well...uh, very well...ours twins turn 8 on Monday!

It affects everyone differently. It made me crazy--I had nightmares and would even wake up myself (and DH) with my thrashing around. PMS times 100 for me. But, like I said, everyone is different. My sweet babies were worth the short time I had to put up with the side effects. I have friends who have taken it and never had the first side effect (and I'm the only one who ended up with a multiple birth!)

Good luck!!

Both my children were conceived on 50 mg of Clomid (one with IUI and one with just the Clomid). The only side effects I recall was one episode of very blurry vision and dizziness. Apparently these are serious but I didn't realize it at the time and they only happened once for a few moments.

Thanks everyone!! Was anyone else VERY VERY nervous when starting with clomid? I am so anxious, maybe its just b/c we have finnally decided and this is "actually" going to happen. ??=0)

I never had side effect with any medicine--except Clomid. I went on it to try to concieve a second child.

I ended up at a therapist office really over-wrought with emotions--crying, etc. Thank goodness the therapist knew me, and knew that this was really unlike me. I went off, and within a few weeks was back to normal.

I never had the second child, and for that my DD thanks me (especially after spending time with her friend's family of 3 siblings who do not get along)

We went through at least 2, possibly 3, cycles of it. But it didn't work for us. I have a friend though who has an almos 4 year old cuz of it. I don't really remember much about it though, it was over 5 years ago now. We ended up doing IVF after that.

I don't really remember anything crazy from it though. Of course, if you want to know how much and what not, I'm sure I still have that info. I kept all the paperwork, insurance stuff, bills, etc... from that entire year with the RE! Yikes!! Thankfully we had great insurance!!

My wife had 2 or 3 miscarriages before being prescribed clomid, followed immediately by the conception of our oldest. I'm not sure if it was the clomid or the the statue of st. thomas we buried in the bed, though.

I think I am headed down that route. I am so nervous, too!!! I've heard stories about the crazy emotional roller coaster and (eek!) weight gain.

I was nervous that it wouldn't work for me, b/c it is so hard for me to get...and then stay...pregnant. Plus, I knew that if it didn't work that the next step would be more invasive--and that made me nervous. Are you "scared" nervous or "excited" nervous? Making babies, for some, can be harder and more emotionally stressful than others realize. You'll be ok.:thumbsup2

I can't recall the dose I was on but it was the lowest dose- I only had to take it one round, had 3 eggs the first round and ended up with a single birth-it was pretty interesting because after taking it when they did the ultrasound to see if I was producing any eggs from it there were 2 on the left side and 1 on the right-all the little swimmers must have taken the right chute that time LOL. I was so afraid all three would end up fertilized and I would end up with three-then some kind friend of mine said "oh and then the eggs could split and you could have 6 at one time"-yea I needed to hear that LOL!!! I did have one side effect-nothing terrible but oh the hot flashes I had! I could be sitting there and you could just see people staring when it happened because it was like someone was painting me red-if came from the neck up and it was like red just creeping from my neck up to the top of my head. I would then sweat like I have never sweat before LOL. But it only took one round and I was pregnant.

My sister had her first child no problem, but had a very hard time getting pregnant the second time. Her Doctor put her on Clomid and it worked very quickly. She had a healthy baby boy who is actual now 6 years old, oh anthen shortly after him to her suprise came boy number 3 w/out clomid.
But her experience was a positive one.

Oh I did forget one thing... my RE did give me progesterone to take for about 2-3 months after the IVF. Never had any issues with that, but they're a big believer that it helps to sustain the pregnancies. I'd never had a miscarriage or anything, but who knows. All I know is I have 2 crazy, out of control twins! But good luck to you!

I wasn't nervous about taking the Clomid. I was nervous about the possibility of multiple births. Even though the risk is very low with Clomid and I was sure I could handle twins, I wanted to have a plan in case something crazy happened. I also discussed with my RE that there was a point at which I would probably stop pursuing treatment and I wanted to be sure there would be no pressure to continue. I really shouldn't have worried about this (U of Chicago is awesome!!!) but I did.

As for how many cycles... two per kid. I sobbed after the first failed each time. I now realize how lucky we are.

I also took progesterone for a few months after getting pregnant. I had blood work done a few days after the one I took to find out if I was pregnant and my numbers didn't go up enough so they put me on progesterone and then when it was time to stop I was so afraid that I would miscarry that I asked them to keep me on it for an extra month with they did! Then I was stressed about the fact that I was on it and also took clomid for the pregnancy since they both have a side effect of cleft pallete. I was knocked out when I had my duaghter and the first thing I asked after I woke up was "does she have a cleft pallete (she didn't).
