Something else you might be interested in Brer_Papa .....

In July I think the weekend of the 17/18th, RM Classic Cars is celebrating their 25th anniversary. They are having a huge celebration planned. Lots of different activities, car shows, celebrity golf tournament, I don't know what all. I thought you might just be interested in putting your car in the car show. I don't have all of the details about the event but you could try typing in RM Classic Cars and seeing what comes up.

It would make a weekend away and might be fun! I think that anybody can put any car they want in the one show. They are going to have another special show with really unique and high priced cars, or so I heard.

Ahoy Cruisin' :boat: !

Thanks for the links....the only shows I've been in in Canada are the ones I told you I went to when we cruised to Niagara Falls...

Looks VERY interesting...and FUN!

I know the week of the 4th of July that I'll be showing the Corvette and the 56 Bel Aire...

I am thinking the 16th - 18th of July or open....

that would be about 7 hours from here?

Chatham to Niagara Falls, Ontario is approx 3 hours to drive.

So add the time from your house to the border and you have it.

One hour to the Detroit/Windsor Ambassador Bridge crossing, from Chatham.

that seems to be an hour closer than i thought....

did you take the Glidden test Pin Wizard posted? I did....i thought my results were pretty accurate..

I took the test and I think for the most part it was pretty close.

Then I took the test about 5 more times just using random choosings of colours to see what kind of answers I would get :p

That was interesting!!!!:jester:

OK! Exciting news.....at least to me....lol...

I talked a little bit about my participation In the Historic Motorama 2002...where i took my Granddaughter Kara with me on the 1000 mile parade of 50 Corvettes....one from each production year...

well....over the last month, the emails have been flying...when we did the parade...there were 2 caravans behind the 50 Corvettes...one was the National Corvette Museum (NCM) staff and trucks...who hauled our luggage and memorabilia for us....somethig we will be eternally grateful for since luggage space is at a minimum...

included in the NCM caravan were 4 enclosed trailers in the eventone of the "FAB 50" had a breakdown...

the second caravan was the media caravan....and ere's where the BIG BIG NEWS is...

two of the media participants....Maureen & her husband...have gathered as much video as they cold...in addition to the video they took...and are going to produce & ditribute a VHS video and a DVD...each participant will receive a tape and DVD as a gift...

well, the latest news is that eachparticipant is going to be interviewed by phone...this is being done to add to the video...update all about us...what as happened after the Motorama and how it has affected us..

so...Maureen had asked us to make sure she had all the info she would need...either verify it is still current or update if need be...

well..i emailed her Saturday and she emailed me last night...including a "little surprise" in her reply..a picture of Kara and the other 8 year old, Mary...when we were on the roof of the original Corvette Assembly plant in Flint Michigan...

Kara is standing right next to the 1953...a beauty of a beauty next to a beauty...

a picure very much welcome to my collection :D

4 other tidbits....
1) Kara will be right with me when we do our phone interview...i wouldn't want it any other way...

2) Part of my email was asking if additional copies of the tapes and DVD's will be available for purchase...a resoundin yes....(Maureen & DH are doing this production on their own monies and the gifts to the participants is a thank you)

3) when i picked up the GK's Friday...Kara started telling me how she was talking to her school chums about the Motorama that very day......it was an unforgettable and once in a lifetime event...exceptKara wil be on the 100th Anniversary event ...LOL!!

4) one of the memorabilia I received was a crystal plaque...the pic of me in front of the Corvette that was taken on Presque Isle transposed onto the Crystal.....Kara & Corey asked to see it Friday.....and the memories came flooding back...

well...that's my news...When I was notified Labor Day 2001 that my Corvette was chosen...i just KNEW that this event would be the highlight of my Corvette world...and it just keeps adding more and more happiness...

:jumping1:

:wave2: Brer_Papa

That sure is exciting news.

You ::yes:: are going to be a star :cool1:

Your "15 seconds" of fame. I'll bet you can't wait to get that video.

Here's wishing you even bigger and better highlights to come in your Corvette World in the future :teeth:

Is Kara excited about the interview and being part of the video, too?

Aaaah.....me a star?...nope... :)

my 15 seconds came and went.... :D

that was a great wish! :cool1:

Kara....yes...she's excited...as am i...

Here;s the bottom line...Princess Ariel couldn't go with me on the Motorama...schedule conflicts..so...

when I was deciding should I go alone..or take someone...if so...who?

I thought "Kara"...she's been a Corvette helper from the start...loves me...loves the Corvette...she would say to me.."Papa...let's go wash the Corvette"...just to be around it...

I'd say..."let's go for a ride instead..."

when she did help me wash/shne it...she's do her best...a spot about 1 foot by 1 foot...but she was there..

anyway....I talked to her Mom & Dad..her Mom is a DISer..WishingStar....

and they said ok...i said then what i believed then and still.....she will be a "bridge" from the 50 to the 100th....

when we got to Flint to start...we met Mary and Tom...1980 Corvette...Tom's wife had a schedule conflict...Tom decided Mary...so she could "bridge the 50th to the 100th....

aftermath....my Corvette...or...my Corvette and Kara....were featured in Car and/or Corvette Magazines after we got back...Kara had her picture on the front page of the Bowling Green paper the day after we arrived...

so...yes...we are excited..but for mmaybe different reasons...mine are for her and her future...

i wouldn't change a thing!! :) :) :)

Isn't it nice to know that someone else will love and cherish your "baby" in the future.

It is good to instill the love of fine things in the future generation if we can.

Not only that but you are giving Kara many, many happy memories that she will look back on fondly as she gets older and remember you and the times you spent together.

I hope that I have grandchildren someday that I can spend time with. I am looking forward to that stage of life, although it will probably be a few years down the road still (I hope so anyways)

Very well said!!

Yes...it is a great comfort that Kara will take care of my "baby"...and drive it to and at the 100th... :)

It IS awesome being a Dad to the 3 great kids we have...but being a Papa...WOW!!

Grandparenthood is awesome too...but in other ways...(you'll know exactly what I mean when your time comes to be a Grandparent!

I have 5 Grandkids....and WE have made many fine memories...here at home n Erie...car memories...picnics...fishing...ice fishing...ice skating...WDW...

I/we spend as much time as we can with them....it is so right...

We can only hope that our children will settle down close enough to home that we will have easy availability to our grandchildren if there are any.

I don't know how happy I would be if they were on the other side of the country and I never got to see them on a regular basis.

Only time will answer those questions.::yes::

Yeah....I know what you mean...

I still have to face that...as you know...youngest...a DS ...and our DDIL moved to Florida last year...

when the day comes that they decide to have kids....well.....i just don't know. :(

I can't see me just going down to Florida 2 weeks a year...so...

Naturally, after I retire...seeing GK's in Florida won't be as big of a problem as what it would be if it happens before I retire...
