Robin now that I remember, Lauren did get a new guppie and then they all started dying....I think you figured it out. Fishy fish

That's what I get for trying to get some new "blood" in my fishy gene pool :sad2:

I'm still "fishing" dead ones out of there. I'm thinking it's slowing down but maybe it's just wishful thinking.

I knew I should have sold those darn fish to the pet store last week

Poor Robin...Hi Wendy...Hi Sunny

Fish are funny like that aren't they? :fish:

They almost seem to need no maintenence and all and then BAM...
we usually had to start over because of things like ick...John was always "changing up the fish"

We've had oscars and zebras and glow fish, eels, even pirahna (which btw were very boring-stupid fish wouldn't eat if they knew they were being watched.) When we lost the oscar and gave away the pirahna we got Iggy (the iguana) for my son. He was 7. Iggy died about a year ago, my son is 20. We now have a lone beta in the dining room and my son recently started up a small tank of his own. He has his zebra and neons and is starting down his very own path of the long life of a fish owner.

Did you know that having fish is good for your health? Ayup...just like dogs and cats, fish help people relax. Not cause you can pet them, cause you can't. It's because of how hypnotic and relaxing it is to watch them swim. Something about the bubbles and the sounds of a waterfall tank filter, the dim glow of the tank light and the smooth swimming of your little friends. :fish:

and that my friends is story and I'm stickin to it...

;)

We have one fish in the tank that has been with us for at least 6 years, maybe more. He (she? ) is a Chinese algae eater, long and fairly skinny. Started out only an inch or so long and is now probably 6 or more inches long. He is the only reason that I keep the fish tank going. He lives in a "cement" block in the bottom of the tank and keeps Mischief amused for hours :rotfl: She waits for him to come out of his block and then she actually launches herself at the fish tank :p It's a good thing it's so sturdy because she hits that thing so hard you'd swear it should fall on the floor. Silly cat, you'd think she'd have learned by now that she can't get the fish :smooth:

We also have a beta fish. I call him my kitchen fish. He lives on the kitchen counter and we have had him for over two years now. He loves to watch me when I'm in the kitchen :magnify:

:lmao: Cat's are too funny..

The cats try to go in the pond too?

Our beta sits on our dr table. (On a raised platform-not really *on* the table.) He eats breakfast and dinner when John does.

***the dogs are wrestling *under* my chair right now .... :dog: :dog:***

Reminds me of why I will never beable to have fish with two cats. :rotfl:

:surfweb: Good Morning,

Well we have sunshine ...but it pretty darn cold out there....Hopefully it will warm up a little..later.

We are going to start laying down the new flooring tonight :yay: , so I have to move everything from the living room this afternoon...Well as much as I can anyway.. ..

We have wanted to get a fishtank again for this house , ...We plan on putting it in a "built in" book shelf and the bookshelf hasnt been "built in" yet ..hence no fishtank ....
Hope you have better luck with yours robin!

The pair of geese have landed on my pond again today :guilty: .....Every year they come and leave there "mess" all over my yard :sad2: ...and I have to keep running out like a crazy woman  to scare them away...It will go on for a week or so befor they give up and go some place else...

Well Im off to work...
TTFN

Hello everyone!!! :sunny:

Hope everyone is well....It's been pretty busy for me the last few days. I haven't caught up yet but I will try to. I got the kids dinner in the oven right now....boy that time change really messes me up. :teeth:

It's been HOT HOT HOT here the last few days also. 80 degree weather...YIKES I don't think I'm ready for summer yet. Today we hit 85! :sunny: My sil says it's 88 degrees in Tallahassee. For those of you who have upcoming trips you won't have to worry about the sunshine.

Steph, you're gonna kill me when I tell you this...We went to Atlanta on Saturday. I was thinking of calling you the whole time but I had my mil, sil and her "boyfriend", the kids and hubby all with me. We went to the Asian Farmers market and then drove around downtown ATL. We ate at the Varsity. Have you ever eaten there? :teeth: It was our first time and so many people recommended it, saying it was a good place to eat. I wasn't too impressed...... I guess it's mainly for broke college kids. :lmao: I did take some pics.

Well I will be back to play catch up.. I gotta feed the kids..

Oh yea before I forget. Today was my first day of class(medical terminolgy). I really can't say how it was yet because all we did was go over the schedule and syllabus. The class did not seem to big but the professor said more may show up.. I guess the "cool kids" don't go to first day of class? :confused3

Anyhoo... I'm a big ole nerd!! :rotfl2:

Mischief has actually been in the pond a few times ;) She's a crazy cat though and loves water  One time she was rolling on the stones by the edge of the pond and just rolled right in :lmao: She just climbed out, taking her own sweet time. Didn't seem to bother her at all :teeth:

My beta sits on a raised platform too. I made him a pedestal out of bricks :) It's much easier to see him that way.

Cally, congratuations on your first day of school. Isn't this a weird time to be starting a new course :confused3 I know around here it would be.

You keep that sunshine turned on down there until I get there okay :sunny:

 Betsy and ima.

~Good Luck Cally~

 Hi everybody else

hi all! :wave2:
cally, good luck w/ your classes. how many are you taking this semester? i am something of a career student taking only one class per semester. i have 5 classes left before i graduate! my sisters want me to hurry up so we can have a big party! party:
well, as per usual very busy time at the softball field. DD won her game again tonight. she was awesome! she struck out 5 batters tonight w/ 3 in the last inning for the win. it was a thing of BEAUTY! :cheer2:
tomorrow we begin stretching oour time on the baseball field as well when DS's begin their season.
well...i do not have any fish, so i have nothing to add on that subject. i do have a really *cool* cat, but he's so lazy there's just nothing to tell. :cat:
cally is right that the weather is getting warm, but i love it! yea for florida heat (well, actually once it gets past 90 i am a little warm) :sunny:
during the summertime at disney, we can sure tell who is used to the heat and who is not.
hope everyone is enjoying daylight savings time - i love it! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
mary

Morning! :sunny:

I still haven't caught up. :rolleyes1 Found myself doing laundry lastnight and reading a little through my book. It's gonna be an interesting class!

Thanks ladies for the well wishes. :goodvibes

Robin, It's our spring quarter/semester. I guess it's pretty normal for us. Hubby started his classes March 20 but then had all of last week off for spring break.

Mary, I can only take one class this quarter because the class I am taking is a prerequisite for all the other classes I need to take. I've all ready taken all my core classes like English, Math, Anatomy, ect. The rest of my classes are all nursing classes and clinicals. :yay: That's great you only have 5 more classes :cool1: I know it's hard to work and study for school and then also have a life :teeth: What class are you taking now?

Congratulations to your daughter :cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: AND goodluck to your son on his season :wizard: :wizard:

I did have fun. I enjoy going to the lake. It's kind of relaxing watching the water. :teeth:

I looked and I had brought one shoe from each pair :lmao: At least I was lucky enough to bring a right shoe and a left shoe and both pairs are black, so I had a wearable pair :rotfl:
:rotfl2: That is too funny!

Thanks for sharing your dinner pics. You look so much like your mom!

Colleen, I like your hair! I use to wear my hair very curly like that when I was younger. I would get a perm and my hair all ready had a natural curl to it. Now I straighten it then curl it back with a curling iron. :rotfl:

am I the only one that found the statement "caught 2 big crappy" quite hilarious?
now that you mention it, it is kind of funny :rotfl2:

The guys went fishing again on Sunday and caught more crappy :rotfl2: Oh and hubby caught a big catfish.

Where did you do your baby registry? What kinds of things are you registering for? I never did the registry thing because I didn't know anyone :rotfl2: It does sound like a lot of fun though.

When is Trish coming to visit you again?

tiggerwannabe said:
Hey that's pretty cool! :cool1: I will have to check that out! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Cally, you kindof figure out what you like in nursing school and then work in that field, and if you change your mind you can usually switch departments if there is an opening. I started off in Surgical/Oncology before I went to OB/GYN.

I've always been interested in OB/GYN (delivering babies) I think that is what I will want to do but most likely I will take any job that comes available to me.

For some reason my guppies are dying on me all of a sudden. I've had maybe 12- 15 of them die literally between yesterday and today

I took a water sample to the pet store and they said it wasn't really bad that something (I forget what) was a little bit high. She suggested that I do a half water change and see if that helps.

I know I would like to get rid of the fish tank but I really don't want all the fish to die at one time
Was it "amonia" that was too high? Have you been changing out the filter regularly? I wonder what it could be :confused3 Did you do the water change all ready? How are they?

I have just a quick story to tell you guys. Today, Cora went to a b-day party. I had rsvp'd last week. I wasn't really in the mood to go today, I have so much I should get done around the house, but the kids had TKD today so I figured I'd go but leave early. I'm glad I went. The little girl gave out 20 invites, 3 rsvp'd but only 2 showed up. That included Cora. Many times people don't call, but they'll show up, no one did. I felt so bad for this little girl. She took it like a trooper though. Just though I'd mention it as I know how upset my dd would have been if it had been her party.
Oh my that's terrible. :guilty:

I use to breed betas. It was a lot of fun but I no longer do that. Maybe I will start up again one day. At one point I had about 20 betas all in their seperate bowls scattered through out the house. :lmao: I got tired of having to clean each bowl though... I gave them away. Now I have 2 that actually belong to the kids but I still have to clean them and feed them.

We have one african ciclid in a 10 gal tank. I know they are agressive fish but we can't even put his own kind in the tank. He will kill them off one by one so we have decided he is a loner. We've had him for about 3 years now and is part of the family. :teeth: We even gave him a name.."cicly" pronounced "sickly" :lmao:

Hubby used to have pacu's (can't have piranah's in GA) but he sold them to a fish store because they got way too big and we're eating us out of house!

We still want to get a bigger tank. Maybe 75 gal and hubby wants a salt water tank but I'm not too sure about that. It seems like hard work.

betas can live for a long time... I think it's cute how they swim up to the tank when you are near them. Mine wait at the top of their containers for food when I'm around :rotfl2:

Betsy, you had me thinking of you running around your yard scaring the geese away :rotfl2: Hey, that could be some good exercise!

How's the floor?

DD and I are just hanging around munching on our favorite mid-morning snack....club crackers w/cream cheese & chives. YUM!!

I'm headed for a massage this afternoon. I hurt my shoulder last week, and had a massage, it felt much better 2 days later, so I'm headed for another. I could really get used to having a weekly massage, but I think I'll try to limit myself to 2 x / mo. Could get expensive, and I need to save for the cruise.

What's everyone else up to today?
Hope it's sunny wherever you are and whatever your plans. :)

Hi All

I have company from now till Easter!!! So I may not be posting a lot till after then. I can't believe it's already Easter time!!!

Hope everyone is well. Weather has been great, near 90. Going to get my hair done today....maybe something different. :confused3

No fish, :fish: Go fish :lmao:

Chat with you all later :grouphug:

:sunny:
Betsy - Sorry to hear your having geese issues but I think it would be rather entertaining to see you running around chasing geese :rotfl:

Cally - Oh how dare you not call me :p . I understand you were with the family and all ;) . Yes, I've eaten at the grease pit that is the Varsity. It's just one of those places you have to eat at at least once in your life. Its really big with GA Tech students. How was the Asian Farmers market? I've never been there. Did you make it to the Aquarium? Oh and yes you are a big ole nerd :p but at least it means you'll be getting good grades lol.

I registered at Babiesrus and Target. I registered for everything under the sun. I've already gone back and changed half of it though because I felt some items were just too expensive. I'm supposidly going to be having two baby showers. One in Tennesse for all my family there and then one here in Georgia being thrown by my friend that is getting married in March. You want to come to the one here? It probably wont be until sometime in August or September. As for Trish she won't be coming this month but she did say she wants to come down for the baby shower.Hey noticed you want to go the OB/GYN nurse route... hurry up so you can help deliver my baby :p .

Robin - Cats are such nuts! lol Seriously I've got a cat that I swear is on something. She is so crazy jumping on everything under sun. She would climb the walls if she could. :rotfl2:

tiggerwannabe - :wave2: Hi!

SWHNN - Wow your DD is on a streak isn't she? :cheer2:

sunny - Oh how I wish I was able to get a massage! :cloud9: I still have to wait two more weeks before that though. I think you also just gave me another idea for something to eat, cream cheese and chives! Gee doesnt take much to make me hungry anymore.

tinknutt - Easter already?! Hope you have fun with all your guest. :jumping1:

:wave2: Howdy to anyone I might have missed!

Hi all, :surfweb:
No morning post today...Sorry :bitelip:

Sunny :sunny: but cold again here today.....

We are still :hourglass working on the floors...But I must say they are LOOKIN GOOOOD! :thumbsup2

IMA,
Hi!...I have to say ....I must look very silly :rotfl: ....I swing a rake around just to scare them even more :teeth: ....and sometimes its early morning so Im still in my PJs :lmao: ...they are purple with big clouds and stars on them :rotfl2: .....yes I must be a sight :rotfl: But a week or so of looking like a mad person, chasing a couple of geese is worth ..not spending the rest of summer stepping in the poop of a whole family(sometimes as many as six goslings, plus the two adults :sad2: ) of geese... ;)

Mary,
Your DD is doing quite well isnt she :cheer2: ....You must be a proud mama ;) ...Have a great Easter if you dont post again before :grouphug:

"Gotta run.....but Ill see ya real soon"....(Mickey::MickeyMo )

Was the latest ZJO question ever answered? :confused3

Our Ann (Hollyann) types quite fast *and* without looking. One day it seems she had her fingers set a bit off of her "home" keys and instead of writing Hi it came out ZJO...we've all kind of adopted it from her.

~It was sunny and breezy here today, a long one but a good one~

Good evening Tkers.

The fish seem to be doing better today. I've only lost 2 today, so things are looking up. Some of them are starting to look more normal too, the tails are fanned out and the fins are standing up again. I hope they are in recovery mode now.

Someone is playing a cruel trick on us. The ground is covered in that nasty white stuff
