I can tell you that I am wiped out come dinner time... I think I can handle it though. I would feel so bad to tell his parents that I have changed my mind and can't watch him. :worried: That is exactly what we were thinking... The first day we met up Dante and DeVaughn got to play with him a little and they figured out right away how to communicate with him..

But since Tuesday Elijah's parents have been picking him up early (before the kids get home from school) so they have not had a chance to play with him again.

Believe me.. I do look forward to the kids getting home to give me some relief :lmao: but so far Elijah's been leaving right before they get home. For the most part he is good natured. At times he will get frustrated and start babbling and screaming...but it's not for long. He will quickly find something else to do that will entertain him.

He was trying to go into my bedroom and I kept telling him "no" and he didnt like that much..after about 5mins he ran to Dante and DeVaughn's room.

At one point we were sitting down watching cartoons and he jumped in my lap and started to bite me.. Well actually he was trying to bite me... :scared:

At another time he had fruit snacks and would put them in his mouth and get them all sticky and try to stick them in my hair. :crazy2: I didn't notice what he was doing at first and he managed to get one stuck in my hair... :headache:

:bitelip: :smooth:

It does sound like you have your hands full with this boy.

Is he indulged a lot at home, let to get away with whatever he wants?

Make up your rules and stick to them. You'd be amazed at how after awhile he will start to follow them. Of course it is his first week in a new and strange environment so he has to test the waters so to speak and see exactly what he can get away with doing.

I once babysat a little girl and her mom was absolutely dumbfounded at how well she behaved when she was with me :confused3

Hang in there but if you find it too hard, don't be afraid to tell his parents to find somewhere else for him. Life is too short to put up with a situation that you can easily change.

Nope, not me. I don't think you'd ever get me on one of those things. Just not my kind of excitement.

Give me a book, a beach chair at Serenity Bay with an umbrella and some sunshine and I'm a happy camper. :sunny:

Yup, the sleeping beauty didn't even move when the camera flashed :smooth: Of course he worked a 12 hour shift overnight last night 7 to 7. The thing about the paramedics is that they are allowed to sleep in between calls if they want to at night. So some nights he manages to get several hours of sleep while he is at so-called "work" :cool2:

You know that is what hubby keeps telling me.. he is worried that I can't handle it. I think I can. Although he's not exactly like my boys I did survive my boys and i think they turned out pretty good. :teeth:

I dont know if he gets everything he wants at home. I am not surprised by how he is though. Both his parents are in the military (they work with hubby) and they do not spend a lot of time with him. This last deployment we had.. both his parents deployed and they sent their son to Japan for 3months to be with grandparents. Before the deployment his dad was in Texas for some training for 6months.. .. Military life is hard esp on kids.. :worried:

They said when they came back it seemed like he had digressed. Threw more tantrums and was harder to control.

I know their schedule and they are very busy people...they are at work for the whole day.. supposedly they get off at 430/500 and go straight to the gym for an hour.. so by 7 they are eating dinner and then probably straight to bed to start the next day... not much time for the kid.. so I can kind of see why he is like the way he is...

It sounds like this little guy has gone through a lot already in his short life.

Being sent to a strange country to live with grandparents (who are probably pretty much like strangers too) must have been very difficult for him. He would have just gotten used to being there and then was taken back home again to people he had probably started to forget about or think they were never coming back for him.

Tough stuff for little kids. :worried:

Sometimes kids get lost in the shuffle of life don't they. :sad2:

Yes they do.. It is very sad. :(

I was really surprised when they sent him to Japan. As a mother I would never dream of doing that. They did not have to deploy together, they did have a choice but from what I understand his mom wanted to go with her hubby because they had not spent much time together because he was in Texas for so long.

Oh well... :confused3

Uh oh.. its that time. He will be here any min! Wish me luck :lmao:

I have to go start lunch.. Mac-n-Cheese!! :moped:

So, exactly how much time do they get to spend together as a couple while they are deployed, aren't they there to do a job?

I know that if it were me, I would definitely NOT be both off at the same time, if it could be arranged at all. Of course that is only me and my way of thinking.

I have never regretted nor will I ever, the amount of time that I have spent with my kids. My life revolved around them and their needs for many, many years. I always figure that there will be plenty of time for me after they are gone away from home. And if by some unfortunate circumstances I don't get that time for me, then I'm glad that I spent it on them.

Not everyone feels the same way of course.

Good luck with your afternoon Cally. I hope it goes easy for you.

I have a personal question to ask of you threadkillers.

If you don't want to answer it then that is fine but I got to wondering :confused3

I've been lurking around the boards today and a thread got me to thinking. :scratchin

I'm Canadian so the idea is very foreign to me and I don't even think about it really when I'm in the United States but.......... do any of you carry a gun with you on a regular basis :confused3

Is it common among those you know to do so?

That's a good question! I personally don't, and I don't know anyone who does. If they do, I just don't know about it.

However, I have thought about carrying one with me (a small pistol) when I walk because of rabies in this area! Guns just really scare me though :scared:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH TKers and Lurkers!!!!!!!!

watch out its a High School epidemic!!!!!!

thats right....my school is under a stomach virus!

ok...so it started the other day and a few kids threw up....no biggie...happens everyday

then today...550 kids call out sick on my side.(200 on 11/12) by 2nd period, 17 "cases" had been cleaned up.

by 4th period my freshman dance was still on (its tommorrow!!)....and i was starting to feel sick

by 7th period.....i wanted to puke...and i had to walk by the nurses office....there was a line...and they were shutting down. If you had to puke...it was off to main office with a bucket (no lie!!!)

by the end of the day.......the dance was cancelled......and 300 kids had been sent home sick on my side (50 on the 11/12)

so yes..my classes were small.....and i did nothing. And now i feel like Im heading down the path of my peers.

so now im have to call my mom and tell her to cancelle my hair appointment because there is no dance.

oh well.....its in 2 weeks....Ill post some pictures after.
