Robin, I stayed in the 60's building right behind the Play Doh can! I actually checked in on Pop's very first day open! It was great! Out of the 2,000+ rooms, they only checked in 400 people, not 400 rooms, 400 people...LOL! The place was a ghost town until the day I left but it was great! There was always a seat on the buses, never a line at the food court and best of all....I got to be the first one to sleep in the bed..LOL.

It's bad, but as I was leaving, I looked at the check in line at it was huge....I thought to myself, "Sucks to be them!"

I can't wait to go back. Regretably, I never did check out the entire resort....I plan on doing that this time 'round.

No stroke or breakdown... yet for me!!

Gloria Gaynor's I will Survive just brings back many memories of college dayz at SIU in Car-bon-da -le` dancing at Merlin's

If I here music from the Soundtrack of ANIMAL HOUSE.. I instantly break out my TOGA!!!!

Toga.... Toga..... TOGA...TOGA!!!

You'd be very "in the moment" wearing a toga, mamajoan, afterall, the Olympics just started! LOL

Mr. M you are so right...

I shall awaken the hubbie... ask him to pull out the box marked
Toga party and envelope myself in the lovely floral printed sheet I adorned with plastic grapes and twine in 1978!!!!

It probably still has a few "party punch" drink stains embedded in it... you know that kool-aide and grain alcohol are a disaster to get out!!!!LOL

TOGA!!! USA USA USA TOGA !!

I'm working on a nifty new clippie for the olympics....stay tuned...

:cheer2: YAY TEAM USA! :cheer2:

Just got an update from CNN....not sure if it's a new one or a rerun, but they just had a graphic that showed we can expect 61-80mph winds tomorrow night...fun

Hi MMF! I checked weather.com and your hourly forcast shows you're only going to get winds of about 38 miles an hour. I imagine you'll get some gusts, but it sounds okay so far. However, as we've all discovered - Charley is completely unpredictable.....please, please make sure you're prepared for anything!

Well, it was supposed to hit us directly, but it skipped over us completely. Even the wind & rain we were supposed to get didn't happen. It's not raining now and we were supposed to have six inches today while it left Florida. I was lucky, but so many were not....my heart aches for all of them.

I love the new clippie - I was able to watch the very end of the Olympic ceremony - in between watching the weather, so I got to see the lighting of the torch....it was beautiful!

Wow, close to the beach. I tell my husband when I win the lottery I'd like to live on the beach, but that's not his idea of fun. That's okay, if I get to live with him, I can live anywhere. Make sure you take care....if it hits at all, it will be the shoreline. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Let's hope we hear good news from BrerPapa soon. He and his family has been on my mind.

Sorry I missed the Toga party - it sounded like fun. I've never been to one! Ya'll take care....I'm off to check my folks house to make sure there wasn't any tree limb damage. They summer in Michigan, hubby's in California, so it's just me.......I keep telling myself I'm a "Steel Magnolia"!

The kids are fine.

They had an interesting evening and night to be sure...

First...you know I can be a pain in the butt sometimes...

no no...it's true....quit arguing with me...

ok...ok....I'm not a butt-pain VERY often....glad we found some middle ground...

well...anyway...I emailed him...and called him a couple of...ok ok...a lot of times.......

and I kept bouncing back & forth between the weather channel and CNN...

and the storm hit...

he figures the winds were sustained at about 60 mph....the sideways rain...

and the lightening...he says a lot of the lightening was green...

the power flickered on and off a couple times...

then it just went out...

shortly after...his cel was low on power...

the best we could do was for him to use the charger in the car...with the car battery...

WHEN he thought it was safe enoughto venture out...IF he ventured out..

so...we lost contact...

until this morning around 9...he called me on his way to work @ WDW....

he was going to be there from 10 AM to 11:30 PM... he left that early just in case...

anyway...sometimes we just talk when he needs to hear my voice...like when his car broke down on I-4...and he had to walk home.. I was "wth him" the whole way..

today may have been like that too...and..I got to hear what he was seeing..

trees down...light out...signs bent and twisted.....billboard ads flattened...
cones on the streets so drivers could avoid whatever was laying across the road...

traffic was slowing down when he got near his exit (exit 68) and he could see ahead it was stopped...but he was close enough to exit...so no clue what was up ahead...

pretty much the same once he got on Disney property...some damages...maybe not as extensive as he feared...maybe...kind of hard to see while driving...

and then he got to the CM parking lot....and had to go....he will be calling me tonight and tell me about what he saw or heard about Charley in Disney...

so...you are as up todate as I am...

 all I really had to post was the first sentence huh?

The kids are fine....

Yes Brer_Papa, all you REALLY had to post was the first line  But I am glad that you posted all of the rest of the lines too ::yes::

It is nice to have a first hand (well sort of twice removed ;) ) account of what is going on.

Just like a "kid" to forget to charge his cell phone huh  . Mom or Dad was not there to suggest to him that it just might be a good idea if the phone was fully charged in a situation like that.

I am glad that he still needs you for some things at least ::yes::

Let us know the update when he calls you later.
