Maybe but the exercise here is not to get to Florida but to the closest to the middle spot between the majority of thread killers.

It probably would be the most inconvenient for you to get to Knoxville of any of us, just because of the barriers you have to get around.

For me it is drive to Detroit, make a left hand turn and keep on going ::yes:: . Can't get much easier than that.

How do you go to get to WDW from your place Brer_Papa?

Do you travel a long ways down the coast of Florida and then cross over to Orlando??

Do you go on the 79 to where???and then hook up with the 77??

We will be driving back from the cruise ship when we leave in January so we will have to decide which is the best way to get back.

hmmmmm...we could take a slight detour to Bowling Green....and the National Corvette Museum.....

It is a beautiful drive to take the 77. Have you ever had a problem with snow/fog taking that way? We once got stopped by snow only 1 1/2 hours away from home on the I75. There was absolutely no way we could go any further. The next day it took us less than 2 hours to get home. But I tell you we were sure glad to get a motel room that night and to get off of the road!!

I think that route would work pretty well for us coming from Port Canaveral too. Of course staying on 77 towards the Cleveland area and then turning towards Toledo.

We drove that road to North Carolina in September and found it very quick and easy, with not a lot of traffic.

Our impression was that the food and hotels and rest areas were further apart than we are used to on the I75. Do you find that a problem? But of course you probably take your RV most of the time when you travel, so it makes it easier to stop and eat wherever you want to.

On the I75 there are hotels, food places, gas stations almost every where you look.

That would be a pretty big detour but it could be done ::yes::

Just stay away from that Wendy's ;)

Ahoy Cruisin' ! :boat:

Yes, the ride on 77 is a very pretty ride....as is a lot of areas we travel through....

We always cheer when we cross a state line...

with no louder cheer than when we cross from GA into FL.....

plus, there is always a scramble for the radio to the AM station when we enter WDW property.....

aaaah....the RV does have some advantages.....unfortunately, we stop gor gasoline more often than in the car....so....it seems to balance out....

P.S. just so you know....I'm pushing the envelope....you know what i mean...

I know, driving down the I75 I always look for the signs announcing that you have entered a new state. I always make sure I point them out to whoever might be or might NOT be listening to me ;)

For us, Georgia is the looonnnnggggest state to drive through. It takes forever or so it seems to us.

We always have to stop at the welcome center just inside Florida for our glass of juice and to pick up some reading material for the rest of the trip. They have brochures there for anything and everything you could want to see in Florida.

That stop is kind of like the big *sigh*, we have made it to Florida.

Good Sunday evening everyone! :sunny:

As you know, I overslept yesterday. Today, I purposely slept in. :teeth: When I got up, before I allowed myself to even eat, I cleaned the bathroom, started what would become 4 loads of laundry, and brought out my Thanksgiving decorations. I really should clean more often, as it gives my DD a 'bug' to do the same, and she tidied up her room, and picked up her things in the living room. ;) I even got my husband to vacuum, not very well, but better than nothing considering he was watching football.

So, who's here tonight? Anybody?? :confused3

:wave2:

 Hi Kim!!!!

It sounds like you had a productive day.

I did laundry (8 loads), ran the dishwasher twice, did a bit of general clean up. That is about it.

I have a real urge to "have" Christmas this year. I want to put up the tree, decorate etc. We haven't even bothered with the tree for the last several years. Nobody seems to care if we have one or not, and our last 2 Christmas holidays were spent in Florida. Last year I got a little table top tree and that is all we had.

I got out my "winter" / Christmas salt and pepper shakers. I have a small collection of salt and pepper shakers that I rotate on display so that they all get a turn.

I even feel like hosting my in laws for Christmas dinner      Now I KNOW there is something REALLY wrong with me :teeth:

Don't worry Robin, there's 6+ weeks to GET OVER that feeling! :rotfl:

C'mas is by far my largest decorating holiday. I bought a new, pre-lit tree the day after last C'mas, as well as several outdoor lighted things for the lawn. I am soooo looking forward to this year's decorating. If you're feeling the same, I say go for it! If you're like me, we're the ones doing all the work anyway...so enjoy!

Yes, I will be the one doing whatever decorating gets done and also putting it away again.

I have had the attitude lately that if nobody is interested in a Christmas tree then why go through all of the bother of putting it up and taking it back down again.

This year, for some reason I want to see the tree downstairs by the fireplace. We have never put it down here before, so that would be different. I just don't know if all of the work will be worth it or not.

Maybe if I think about it awhile I WILL get over it ::yes:: and then I can go back to bah-humbug!!!!!!;)

Got to run out and get Liz, be back in about 1/2 hour.

Liz home safe?

That sounds nice! I think you've given me the incentive to put a 2nd, smaller, table-top tree down here for myself as well! ::yes::

Yes Liz is home safe now. Alex is working all night and won't be home until some time after 4 - 4:30 maybe longer depends on if they have overtime work to do.

Just wanted to share this with everyone .... I just saw the most awesome thing. I saw the Northern Lights. I have never seen them before.

It was certainly a sight to behold. The sky was bright green and red and orange colours and the colours moved around like they were "dancing". Some times it had a ghostly, misty look to it.

I stood in the middle of the backyard in the dark, freezing my you know whats off, but it was worth it. I called my mom from my cell phone while standing in the yard, taking the chance that she was still up. She was and she had never seen the Northern Lights before either. So I am glad that I called her.

Kim, I bought a small fibre optic tree last year that I put on a table top downstairs here. That is where we ended up putting all our presents.

Ahoy Cruisin' ! :boat:

No northern lights here....but...I have seen them before...

they are indeed beautiful....

Pretty cool about putting the ree up b the fireplace...

Hi Kim!!

I didn't make him, I asked him, and he waited until half-time. ;) He is a former Bears season ticket holder, so I know better! ::yes:: ;) The tickets are actually still in my family, they were originally my Grandfather's, back when they played at Wrigley Field, and my uncle now has them. Husband is my uncle's friend, and he bought 1 ticket each year from him. That's how we met, through my uncle, at the games, etc. We went to several games together, went to the same parties, stuff like that. ;)

 I couldn't get on the boards last night, kept getting the service unavailable page.

Have a good day everybody!!

The one about the twins, Is Interesting! ......what happens???.......You will have to write this story for Playboy or something OR you could keep writing it here and just put in blanks for the spots you need to! We all have good imaginations...Im sure we could figure it out!....

Oh and Im not sure if that would be the middle for me ...I am farther north the you BP.....I think?? Im not great at this stuff...All I know is when we go to WDW we go through WV and avoid the wash/balt...area and cut across lower...Through Columbia NC...I think....My DH does most of the driving.....I am his "speller" he like to drive and Im only good at short shots.....(3-5 hrs). and I can never remember the RT no. So all You smart travelers would have to figure out where the middle is for me.
I will never forget the night I saw the Northern lights! They are beautiful.....
