Who else watched "Trading Spouses" tonight?

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but yeah, I watched the show...

I am not defending Tammy, but remember, this is a television show. There is sometimes some "creative" editing to give the illusion of drama - by making someone appear selfish/kind/angry/etc. She probably is selfish, but they are allowing for it to be stretched into something bigger.

All that said, I hope Tammy has the common sense to spend the "poor" family's money wisely. Help them pay off their debt. Not a club membership! Hee hee, I hope some of the "rich" family's money goes to Nana. My own grandmother lived with us for several years before her death. She did the majority of the cooking & laundry. She did it out of love, she wanted to contribute something to the family and felt very useful. And she was a darn good cook! Still have many of her recipes. But Tammy's comment, "She knows what her place is" kinda disturbed me. And then later Nana says, "I have a friend to talk to." refering to Amelia. I hope Tammy learns to appreciate her mother-in-law (notice I said appreciate, not love)

Ooops. Sorry, didn't mean to rant so long...

I missed the show but am confused by a couple posts. Is the "poor" family middle class or living in a ghetto? Maybe lower middle class/working class? To me these are very different realities.

They don't tell you their income, but I'm guessing the "poor" family is really working middle class. In comparision to the other family, they are "poor". They don't live in an apartment/duplex, so I'm assuming they own their own home. They have a car. The mom mentioned they have some debt.

I watched it and laughed so much. I also how much creative editing it being done to make the women look the way they do. Also, isn't the first few days they are supposed to be in the new homes they are supposed to be "get to know you" period?

I liked that Mela didn't want to embarass her "new" family at the Japanese restaurant and tried the food. That took guts to do. I didn't like the fact that they made her look ashamed (I'm not sure if this is the word I want to use) that the bill was so high for her to afford and it was just another night out for them.

I think that Tammy cares for the health of her "new" family but doesn't know how to go about it in away that they will listen. But what teenager truly listens to anyone over 25 anyway? See was reading the label on the bread they ate the BLT on at home. About her weight, she is probably like me that no matter how many sit ups I would do I couldn't lose the pouch. She might have had to have her children by C - section. That does a thing.

I like Nana. But remember the comment Tammy made early in the show. They get away with so much more with Nana than they do with me. Yuki even said that she will be bossing everyone around by day 3 probably.

I hope that Tammy puts the maximum amount allowed by law in college fund for the 3 kids. That would be great. Then, get an electrician into the house and get that breaker fixed.

I don't think the family is poor and they don't live in the ghetto. (I have no idea where the ghetto thing came from)

Their neighborhood looks like a working class area with many ranch style homes. Both parents work, 3 kids, own a home, car, just your typical middle class family.

I hope Tammy decides to let the Biggins take a nice vacation with some of the money.

I didn't watch it but Dave Chappelle was making fun of reality TV and did a skit of this exact idea awhile ago. Even called it trading spouses! I have a feeling I would enjoy the Dave version better. ;)
"Time out is SWEET!!" ;)

I watched also.....

Tammy.... wow. Hard to beleive someone would go into another persons house and behave that way .... When she first walked in... and made the comment about doing anything you want coz this is AMerica, I was thrilled... I thought she was going to be a real positive experince for the other family, but then... I guess you dont have to do anything at all if you dont want since this is America.

I am glad that Ameila and Nana hit it off. I forsee they freindship lasting unless her son squashes it after the show.

I went to TIVO it since I am curious how the money thing is going to play out, but I had a conflict and couldnt record three shows at once! LOL I have to set the other TIVO to record it... thanks for the reminder.

Yep they're a typical middle class family, but you also have those type of people who see black skin and automatically think ghetto:D
