Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

Actually Disney very much "does" listen. Guest feedback about the dislike of the old Fastpass system was a major reason for change.

You just have to remember Disney has millions of guests and only a very small percentage are represented here. And even of the ones represented many DISers are pleased with the changes, they are just tired of commenting about it unlike the ones not pleased, who seem to want to dwell on it daily.

Are you sure? Dissent seems to not be limited to a few DISers: Don't Waste Your Money

You mean like Avatarland?

The Seven Dwarves Mine Ride?

New Fantasyland?

But wait, everyone hates those, even the ones that haven't been built yet! :rotfl:

It doesn't matter what Disney does, people are going to hate it. Very loudly and vocally. I'm rather glad Disney doesn't listen (well, switching tracks from the Fairy Forest to New Fantasyland was probably a good call). Fan rage has killed projects I've been looking forward to before (thinking of the Wonder Woman TV series here, or JJ Abrams deciding he's not going to do any Star Trek movies).

I'm pleased to see the attendance figures at Disney continue to increase.

Hate is a pretty strong word. I'm sure 7DMT will be great once it's done. I'll be honest Avatar land doesn't interest me tons....I'm probably one of the few folks that didn't see the movie. But I am happy to see them put money in new attractions. I just think a billion dollars could have been used differently. I'll happily eat crow if the whole MM+ turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread.

agreed!

All this story does is give some barebones facts about how FP+ works and mentions in passing that some people don't like it. In other words, it doesn't say anything we don't know.

We have always known that there are people on the Dis and other similar websites that don't like FP+. A local TV station reporting that there are people on websites that don't like FP+ hardly adds to the dissent.

And, BTW, "Don't Waste Your Money" is just the name this station gives to what appears to be a segment about consumer matters. It doesn't say, or even suggest, that going to WDW is wasting your money. Any more than its hard hitting segment about where to get a single slice of pizza in Cincinnati is saying that buying a single slice of pizza is wasting your money.

We've been to WDW twice since they began FP+ and we have had positive experiences both times. We found the MBs to be very easy to use and had no problems getting to all of the attractions that we wanted to, including headliners like Soarin' and TT. We'll certainly be going back.

The article says "some" are unhappy with the changes. Pretty sure we were all aware that some were.

However many are pleased. They are just not as vocal about it.

I think the most important thing is, it's a vacation destination, if it's not fun anymore for whatever reason, then do try something else. I simply can not imagine that this is the breaking point some make it out to be.

We just got back Tue from a week long trip and it was aaaaaaaawesome! Loved the MB's, MDE and FP+. We had no issues with our ADR's and our FP times and my kids LOVED their magic bands. Honestly all those new changes are such a small part of our overall trip. We were there to spend time as a family and have fun and just being there and taking it all in was a blast. I don't have time to be so dramatic about change.
And...we are already planning on return Jan 2015 trip!

Glad to not have a trip planned to WDW because of FP+ :scratchin.............:lmao::laughing::rotfl:

Looking forward to it! :cool2:

I don't think people are resistant to change here. I think they are resistant to BAD change. 1.) I just read in another thread that if you have an ADR you cannot book a FP+ one hour before or two hours after said ADR. So if I have a an ADR for 5:00 pm the latest window before dinner is 3-4 and the earliest after dinner is 7-8. With two ADRs a day it will be a challenge just to use the FP+! That is a terrible restriction.

Unless they have changed it since December this is completely false. We had ADRs almost every night and never ran into a problem. One day we had a lunch ADR at Sci-Fi at 12:30. Before that a FP+ TSMM from 12:00-1:00(yes it overlapped). And a RNRC FP+ at 2:00pm. So I don't know where you read that but from first hand experience it's untrue.

That's the right attitude right there. Winds of change, what are you going to do? You go and have a great time! ::yes:: Bravo!

Sure- why let other people's positive experiences cheer you up? Just be grumpy all the time

If you are going to suggest we shouldn't let people's negative experiences get us down, or more accurately make us worry, think negatively, about the impact of FP+ on our trips, then why the heck would we let people's positive review do the opposite ?

I for one am not even sure why they made the change in the first place. I loves FP!!

I'm also really hoping things change for offsite guests...not really enjoying the second class citizen treatment. What's next, using the back entrance, swimming across the lagoon, washing dishes for our dinner? I'm kidding but seriously, it's like Disney is saying "I know you paid just as much as an onsite guest to get through these gates, but I'd much rather them have a good time and you just get what they don't want". Though I am looking forward to my FP+ to the people mover!

That's a very dramatic way of saying I hope things change for offsite guests!! P.S. I can't wait to see the threads of people saying "I had my FP+ time but the buses were so busy I missed my window! Now I can't use my FP anymore"...

You do realize you can move a FP+ that's one of the pro's to it, unlike the old system. So know one is going to be complaining they missed their window and are out a fastpass. As for second class I don't see it. What has changed? You don't get a band? You don't need one the cards still give access to the parks and rides. You can still rope drop, you can still see the fireworks/parades, you still get 3 FP's like every other guest, you can still do meet & greets etc.

The only difference is pre-booking and no one knows how that is going to go for off-site guests. But if it turns out on-site guest can prebook than that's an on-site perk. Just another benefit to staying on-site just like EMH, or ME (That's why Disney can charge a premium for their resorts). Did you feel like a second class citizen because your could not ride attractions durning EMH's?

You DO realize not everyone has an up to date phone to make changes on a slow bus. (Which was the example given)

I think people expressing concern for off-site guests are letting their compassion show here. I for one, appreciate that some here think of more than themselves.

This has the potential for negative impact on the casual day guest. After all, not everyone spends hours here learning all the tricks and new systems. They deserve just as much fun as we do.

I have friends and family who just.......show up for the day. Lets hope eventually they feel special too.

Pixies to everyone. Just keep those wallets open!

I'm glad......we just came back from a trip in December and it was so perfect that no other trip in the future will ever match it! :wizard:

All this story does is give some barebones facts about how FP+ works and mentions in passing that some people don't like it. In other words, it doesn't say anything we don't know.

That's pretty much the brunt of the news story. Bad press is bad press.

We have always known that there are people on the Dis and other similar websites that don't like FP+. A local TV station reporting that there are people on websites that don't like FP+ hardly adds to the dissent.

It appears awareness is increasing enough that a local TV station in Ohio picks up on the less than favorable reaction. Normally, I would have expected a counterpoint but there wasn't one.

And, BTW, "Don't Waste Your Money" is just the name this station gives to what appears to be a segment about consumer matters.

Very astute observation. That's why the link was named as such.

Anyway, it's interesting to take a peek outside of the DIS boards every once in a while and see what the rest of the world is thinking.

I don't know how MDE allowed you to have an overlap but it would not allow me. I had this problem every single day, as we always book a sit-down lunch/brunch and dinner. For example, on our AK day, I had a Tusker House at 10:45 and a Sanaa at 5:25. App would not let me book anything past 10 am, before 12:45 pm, and after 5:00 pm. That means, the choices I had in advance were 9:00 am, and then 12:45, 1:45, 2:45, 3:45 4:45 slots for FPs. We checked in at 10:35 am and were out of Tusker House by 11:30 am, and did not have a FP until 12:45. I tried unsuccessfully to change FP times, on the app and on the kiosk with a CM, and not even the CM could override. This is just an example, but I had the same issues at every single park, for example, MK (with lunch at Plaza at 11:45 am and dinner at BOG at 5:15), DHS (with lunch at MM at 12:30), etc.
