Who are the West Coast DISers?

We're also from the West (from just outside Edmonton). Our next trip is in May and we are also planning our annual October visit for our anniversary :cool1:

count me in! we are in maple ridge. yup, the dinky town of maple ridge! not totally proud of that....married a maple ridger...i grew up in coquitlam and have to say, i LOVE the city!

we go to disneyland every other year and alternate it with disneyworld visits.

this year is disneyworld...for christmas. !!!!

Oh, MR isn't so bad! My sister and her family live there, I visit at least every six weeks and other than that gawdawful mess they're making of the Pitt River bridge, I enjoy the area.

BTW, WDW at Xmas is the best! I would have been there myself this past Xmas except for a pesky ovarian cancer diagnosis last summer and my chemo treatments kept me away. We're getting excited though, only 40 more sleeps til we head to Florida!

Do I count? We are in Northern BC and are heading down April 29th-May12th. You think getting of the island is bad, try getting out of Northern BC at a decent price.

I'm with you! In "Northern" BC (actually more like the middle of the province) and right on the Gold Rush trail!

But yes, getting a decent flight out of here is ridiculous. It costs more to fly from PG to Vancouver than it does from Vancouver to practically anywhere else. We usually joke that to fly from PG we have to BUY the plane. Horizon Air now making flights to Seattle should help the costs though. Fly to Seattle then catch a Southwest flight from there for cheap. Going to start skipping Vancouver and just go straight to Seatac.

Coquitlam BC here. My Wife and i have been to Disneyworld 5 times in the last 4 years with our next trip at the end of April. We have been to Disneyland 13 times, but not at all in the last 4 years. I have been able to flights out of Seattle to Orlando for the same or less money that a flight to LAX and with the Magical Express we don't have to pay for transfers. Each year we get a seven day pass through airmiles with the no expiration, park hopper and plus pack on it, then when we arive for less than $50.00 we upgrade that to an annual pass. We have been lucky enough to get the free dining three years in a row in September, so all we paid for was airfare, hotel, and a one day park pass each trip.

We are
we grew up in Ladysmith them moved to fort st john
now just moved to just outside of edmonton
we are going in Dec for the first time
When I started looking we were looking at disneyland then it turns out its cheaper for us to fly to Disneyworld then disneyland from here then we got at 40% off code so that sealed the deal

We are, Port Alberni , Vancouver Island here. We have been going to Disneyland every other year for the last 8 years and have been planning to go to WDW in 2009 all that time.

Can't wait!!

You want to talk dinky . . . I grew up in Whonnock just east of Maple Ridge and it doesn't even qualify as a town - now that would be dinky. :rotfl:

I was born and raised in Mission, BC but I have been living on Vancouver Island for the past eight years. DH and I went to WDW in Sept/06 and it was HOT!! We had a good time but I actually prefer Disneyland, it just seems more magical. I would go back to Florida but probably in a cooler time of the year and to do the Disney cruise. DH says he has had enough Disney for 10 life times so next time I'm on my own.

From Calgary. We Went to WDW twice last year and we enjoyed it so much. We are going back again this Christmas and will make AKV as our second home. We should have bought it when we took the tour back in Christmas.

I'm also from South Surrey. I've been to Disneyland more times that I can count since I was a kid, but it will be my second trip to WDW next month.(But haven't been since 1996). Soooo excited!! It will be the first time for my DH, kids, Bro and SIL.
My DH works for an airline which is making this trip more affordable for us, otherwise we'd probably just stick with Disneyland.:thumbsup2

Same here...not quite the west coast but traveling almost the same distance. We are 1/2 hour south of Edmonton. We just went at Christmas 07 and trying to convince DH for August. But he is not biting yet, as we want to go at Christmas again this year.

So DH and I are contemplating moving to Grand Prairie.........both in the medical field, and great opportunities in your area.
Can any of your Alberta dwellers help us with our decision?
It's great to see the Disney Dream alive in Western Canada.
We bought into DVC last year...have been twice in a 4 month period.
I must say, that a factor in my decision is whether we can afford to go once a year with higher $$ flights. To most people that seems like a crazy thought, that how many times I can get to Disney would influence my decision:crazy: ...but I know you can all can relate.;)

Well, unless that Disney :wizard: actually magically miraculously makes my dh love WDW, I would imagine that our Disney excursions would be limited to Disneyland after our October WDW trip

With the exception of dh, we're all quite excited to be going to WDW this year! With the large size of our group though (we're now up to a minumum of 14 family members), I have my fingers tightly crossed that the trip will be magical for everyone :rolleyes1

As for South Surrey, I love living here! Great neighbourhood, nice feel to the area, great for our children too! We've lived here for 5+ years and love it! :goodvibes

You can fly Westjet out of Grande Prairie and connect in Edmonton. Flights are not cheap however. I believe it is almost 500 miles north of Calgary where we live. You are looking at around 1000.00 per person round trip from Grande Prairie. Your best bet is to get to Edmonton (about a 4 hour drive) or a quick flight on WJ and fly out of there. A few Edmonchucks have mentioned NWA offering great prices which make it really affordable then. Good luck with your decision.

Do I count.

I was born on the Island and lived there for 12 years until I moved to Abbotsford where I graduated. I was also a sea cadet in Aldergrove for many years while I was in High School.

I had to leave B.C. in 1984 due to commitments with the Military and now live in Ontario where I met my DW and am in the middle of raising our family. We Have been to WDW about 10 times and have a DVC at Saratoga Springs. We just returned from there last week and can't wait to go back.

I am surprised at how many West Coasters there are on this board. I was just wondering, is DL better or is WDW better? I have never been to DL.

I'm in Edmonton and kinda thought I was a lone wolf in Western Canada. Good to know that's not true. The price of flights out of here to WDW is outrageous IMHO and is a huge factor in us not buying DVC (almost went to the session last month in WDW, but I knew if I went I wouldn't be able to resist). Pkitty: I love DL, but go CRAZY for WDW!!!!!
