Who are the West Coast DISers?

Hello Fellow West Coasters, I just got back from DisneyWorld last Thursday, we flew out from Seattle (I live in Walnut Grove in Langley) and we had an absolute blast. I am wanting to book again for next year. The weather was great and the parks were so much fun!! I haven't been to DisneyWorld since 1993 and this was the 1st trip for my two boys age 9 and 12 (he turned 12 while we were gone) The DIS podcast helped me so so much, knowing where to eat and how to tackle the parks was a huge timesaver. I am so greatful that the podcast was recommended to me. :goodvibes

Helloooooooooooooooo!!! I'm in South Surrey, but we go to DL - but would LOVE to go to WDW! My son is just trying to talk me into going to Florida, but we're going to do APs this year to DL, so that will have to wait. Plus we can go far more times for far less $$ that it makes sense to us to go to DL - and it's so much fun :cool1:

Anyone else? Surrey BC? ...At least its good to know that we have quite a few West Coast Disney fanatics here on the DIS! YAY!

I went to DL 3 times, and WDW 3 times (in a row too!) ...Hopefully in the summer of '09 a whole bunch of my friends and I will head down to DL for a High School graduation present! YAY!

Another one from Calgary :)

We're headed back to DL in a week (yay!) and will be cruising next January. DH had never been anywhere Disney and now we've gone every year for the past 3 years :)

We like DL because it's a short flight, mostly cheap flight and it doesn't have to be a week or 10 day vacation, so saves on vacation days.

I totally agree with you DL is so much cheaper to visit than WDW. Flight center just had a special for $299 per person including flight and good labor hotel for 3 nights.

The only thing I find way overpriced at DL is food. Taxes and minimum wage is higher there. Those packages are a good price but they have a lot of restrictions. Sucky flight times not great hotels. Basically you get what you pay for. Better to book things yourself.
We love DL for the park atmosphere. Compact and easy to get around. When GCV open we will add on there for a summer holiday option. If you watch seat sales you can get flights close to the same price for Lax/Mco. Mco prices are high this year so we are flying into Tampa instead. Did you see on the news last night!!! A family from the SW Calgary visiting Florida house went up in flames. They left Monday and had to turn around and come back. That family looks like they lost everything!:sad2:

I would check into any deal to Disneyland that is under $500.00 per person.
Flight center deal at $250.00 each was based on 4 people not 2, didin't include taxes or transfers to and from the airport, or the tickets. By the time you add it all up if you only wanted to go for 2 the rate was over $800.00 each for 3 nights / 4 days, I dont think that that is a very good deal.
Disney World flights out of Seattle into Orlando can be found for as little as $250.00 each but normally are around $375.00 each, Pop Century or All Star resorts go for around $80.00 a night, and a seven day ticket is around $220.00 each. A week works out to $1750.00 for two or $875.00 for a week.
If you ask me an extra $75.00 for 4 extra night's makes Disneyworld the way to go. By staing at a Disney Resort you get free airport transfers, and extra magic hours into one of the four parks each day.

I did check into the flight center deal and the price was under $1400 tax in (flight and good labor hotel) for 4 of us. I had no intention to go to DL I just want to check it out if the price is indeed that much cheaper to visited than WDW. Our last trip to WDW for 2 weeks cost me almost $10k.

We are 13-14 hours from Seattle so we don't really want to put our DS and DD in the car/van for that long. Beside our direct fight from WJ for our last WDW trip was only 500 each taxes in during christmas.

The flight for this christams is totally different. We are leaving on Dec 27 and returning Jan 5. Right now the fight is $1238 plus taxes per person (YYC-MCO). We have already booked 2 tickets through airmiles and still need to pay cash for one extra ticket with the companion fight voucher.

We went to WDW twice last year both time staying at AKL and CR. Although the value and moderate resort is alot cheaper that the deluxe, but we love the decor and atmosphere so much that we will be staying at AKL this christmas trip again. Hopefully Disney will have decent DVC incentive so We can become a DVC member.

We are flying out oif Calgary in December also. Someone on the board suggested checking out prices to Tampa. We did and saved a truckload of cash. It was 2360.00cad for the five of us! You may want to check that out for future trips:thumbsup2

I checked the Tempa as well and the price is $619 each way plus tax for our dates that we will be travelling. I just need to keep my finger cross.:)

We got our prices through United Dept Dec 18 and Retn Dec 28 with a samll layover in Denver which means we avoid any eastern storms. It was 2360 return including taxes. Here's some pixie dust hoping you find a seat salepixiedust::goodvibes :cool1:

I am an almost west coaster too (Edmonton!). We went to DW last year for New years and got our flights from YEG to MCO through United for 366 each including taxes.

I just rebooked for Dec 4-11 again and got tickets through United.ca for 387 CAD each. We have one stop over in Denver and arrive the first day around 4pm (which is way better than last year's arrival of 11pm)!!!

Thanks for your pixiedust. Your dates were close to our trip last Christmas. We left on Dec 15,08 and returned Dec 29 and our tickets were $2100 return including taxes for 4 of us after the price adjustment from WJ. I might have to look into united for our next trips.

Another one from Edmonton ...

We go to DL, however, I am impatiently waiting to go on our first trip to WDW in late fall!

My family and I live in Stewart, way, way, way up north in BC. We travel 3 1/2 hrs to the nearest airport (Terrace BC) then fly to Vancouver (usually 900.00 roundtrip for two) then get on anything that takes us south. We head out in ess then three weeks, can't wait!!!!

Hi there, Another one from Calgary here.

We have booked our 2nd DCL cruise for Feb 2009. We loved the first one so much, we just had to book to go again!!

We're from Parksville on Vancouver Island ! I didn't realize there were so many people from this area on here !

We went to WDW in Sept for the Free Dining, and then again for Christmas with our kids and took my BF's kid too. We love WDW. Christmas was our 3rd trip in 2 yrs.

This year we are doing DL. Sept and January. Taking our neices for their first time.

We do find Dl cheaper but if you hunt you can get WDW for close to the same with sales and discounts. But we have a habit of adding alot on when we are going all the way to Orlando. So we add in Universal usually and spend 2.5 wks. We ended up with AP's to Universal at a great rate which gave us a discount on the rooms too. And we got the 40 % discount on our room for Dec.

Flew out of Seattle both times and got our flights for 400 in Sept and then paid 600 for the Christmas ones because we were anxious to get them booked and didn't wait for the specials !

We can drive to DL and will do that this Sept and January. We are staying across from DL for only 58.00 a night. Buying the So Cal Pass that gives you DL, SW, US, & WLP or SDZ.

We love WDW so much that after this years DL trips we are saving up to be able to spend 5 mths in Anaheim and then 6 mths in Orlando. We plan to do that the year our youngest son grads (2013) so 5 yrs away !

I'm not West Coast either, but from the west. I live in Saskatoon, and visit WDW often. I'm in the process of buying a DVC membership at VWL.

I'm finally making my first trip out to Disneyland in just over a month and a half!
