We are staying at OKW in June (for the first time) for 10 nights. Most in my family need some kind of "white" noise to sleep. We all sleep with fans on year-round regardless of the temperature. I was wondering if they have portable fans you can request or if there are individual air conditioning units in each room?

Thanks!
Donna

OKW (and all other DVC resorts) have central air units. Individual rooms will have ceiling fans.

We always set the Fan (on the temp control for the unit) to "On" instead of "Auto". That has always done a good job of providing that background of white noise - even when we've had villas near the roadways.

If HHI and OKW have the same room layout, then we use the bathroom fan. At HHI it is loud enough to work in the master. I think Brookstone and Sharper Image have portable white noise alarm clocks.

LOL regarding the fans - we do that too! Got in the habit when we lived in married housing at Mich State Univ - had to drown out the cries (both baby- and passion-based). We used to bring a little fan with us, but we've found that the ceiling fans set to HIGH are more than loud enough for us.

Our family uses fans all year round too (in our bedroom my husband has 3 fans on every night). He likes the noise, I like the air circulation.

The fans at OKW seem to work for both of us.

White noise sleeper here, we take our own fan. We store it in our luggage and take it everywhere we go. We just can't sleep without it!

My dh and I both work the midnight shift so we have always slept with a fan on to drown out the noise. We also have our kids hooked on fans. So when we go on an overnight trip so do the fans. I usually just pack them in a box and check them with our luggage. It's hard to pack 3 fans in a suitcase.

I thought I was the only one who slept with a fan on all year :sunny: . Glad to know I am not alone.

When at OKW we keep the ceiling fan on high along with the bathroom fan and it usually works for me.

My kids sleep with fans AND white noise/sound machines. We bring one or 2 with us whenever we travel. DH and I sleep with the fan, but not a sound machine because I'm afraid I would not hear my kids if they called me in the middle of the night. I'd love too though. When we come back from a vacation, DH and I really miss the white noise sound and it takes us a while to get to sleep with out it.
