I was able to book Whispering Canyon for dinner on our arrival night - never been. I was just curious about the recent experience regarding the food and the schtick of the waiters. I know that some things can't be done right now, but we do want to have some of that attitude. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

We were there for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Our waitress was hilarious and throwing straws and napkins at us lol. It was interesting to me because we went for dinner in January, and there were no antics when we went. Food was good both times. I liked the skillets there.

Unfortunately, I think it depends a lot on your waitress/waiter (similar to 50's PT).

We had a very sarcastic waitress on Thanksgiving but the visit before, got nothing from our waitress but were entertained by watching others interact.

They eliminated antics that encourage interaction between tables (ketchup) but still do quite a bit with the individual tables. If you have a waitress that plays along, that is.

We went in November and our waiter was super nice, but didn’t do any of the funny stuff. We were fine with that. As for the food we went twice in 2020 (pre-covid and post-covid) and I was impressed with the food both times. I expected mediocre food as it’s not a highly recommended restaurant, but our food was really good. The cornbread is delicious. The skillets are good. We also had some delicious mac and cheese we ordered for my son. It’s definitely a place on our list of restaurants we’d return to.

Just got back and we dined there about 4 days ago for dinner. Food was amazing. Some of the best cornbread I’ve had!

Service on the other hand.....not sure if we just had a busy server but she wasn’t the greatest. Slow to get refills, slow to check up on us. No messing around at all. We were jealous because the other 2 servers we saw were having fun with the guests. Playing jokes and having fun all around.

We went in January for breakfast and it was still great! Definitely not like before, but I would definitely recommend it if you have the chance to go.

Cool. Sounds like it could be hit or miss with the server, but the food should be good. I can live with that. Thanks!

Do they still have the option for a "just dining" section? I'm intrigued by some of the items, but I don't find stupid antics amusing. If someone threw straws and napkins at me, I'd leave without paying and tell them on the way out exactly why. I left kindergarten antics back in kindergarten.

That’s what restaurants like this and Prime Time are known for, so I wouldn’t go if you wouldn’t enjoy it. The food is nothing special but it’s a fun meal if you have kids. My family still talks about the fun waitress we had years ago.

We are going for a Mother’s Day brunch. I really hope we get a fun waiter!

Not to mention it is not fair to the staff to go, knowing what the schtick is, and then "leave without paying".

We were at WCC on March 16 for a late dinner. Our server did a little like throwing straws & sarcastic banter which we were totally fine with. It was my cousin's first time there & I had prepared them, so they were fine with it but they mentioned that if other family members experienced this, they would not be happy. I know there used to be a way to "opt out" of the antics (i think it was a sign on a coaster or something. One side was play along & the other was quiet meal?) but that wasn't available when we were there. We really liked the 3 skillets we tried (classic, pork & land & sea).

May I ask for specific comments about the Land and Sea skillet?
My husband had that skillet for dinner and liked it. He especially enjoyed the chicken and mushrooms. Also, he was surprised by the plant-based sausage and enjoyed it. The only part he didn't love was the salmon; it wasn't bad, but it wasn't a standout item.

We have done it and it was all in good taste and humor, plus the food is good!!

I LOVE the cornbread at WC. They will share the recipe!! I gave made many times over the last coupke of years. I make them in muffin tins and freeze them. Note: We were told a few visits ago so many people complained about the "fun" at WC that all wait staff had really pared antics back. Personally, I think this is SAD!! 99 percent of eateries on property have nothing like this per customer and wait staff interaction. It is easy for those that don't enjoy to find anoother place to dine BUT not easy for those of us that so enjoyed all the fun to find the same. I wish WC had two rooms and put the fuddy duddies in one area and the rest of us in another. I wish Prime Time could do the same. It is no fun when you take unsuspecting friends and family and there is no fun interaction at Prime or Whispering. It would be like going to see Mike Wiszowski (spelling???) and have no jokes. Similarly, I do not understand why folks complain about fast passes coming back. If you do not like them, then do not use them. Let us seniors that have body aches and pains enjoy our three fast-passes when we visit. I donot ride the most wild coasters and rides but I do not want others to miss out. I do not sun by the pool but I do not want all pools to go away. Etc Etc Etc. Each of the latter = my opinion and I realize others will have theirs.

IDK if it’s “official” or not, but we’ve been seated on the “back porch” both times, and no antics either time. (Even after we requested to be in the action, so...🙄)

I was most recently there in February 2021 for dinner. Got the steak, food was great. Did not observe any antics.

I ate there two weeks ago for the first time. Food was excellent, our server was really nice, but no antics. I’m glad I didn’t tell my hubby about it beforehand to have him disappointed.
