I thought that WCC had gotten so many good reviews from this board. But after reading the worst restaurants thread a lot of people put WCC as one of the worst.

I was thinking about going there for my upcomming trip and now i'm not so sure.

So for all of those who have eaten there for dinner, what did you think? I'm only interested in eating there for dinner because the lunch menu doesn't interest me.

We've eaten there twice in the last year. The food was just OK, but my kids had a blast with some of the antics in the restaurant. My 6yo son loved asking for ketchup...he still talks about it! My 11yo daughter loved having the waitress throw the straws at her, and bring her a HUGE soda when she finished her first one so quickly. My son also enjoyed the horse races.

I think eating here is equally distributed between horseplay and food. We continue to book here because of the "fun factor" and not necessarily the food. The food is not bad, it's just not "Great".

I hope this was helpful...

I will be honest, the menu isn't my favorite type of foods, but it was surprisingly good! Our server was magnificent! and the atmosphere was so much fun! We are not going back this next trip due to wanting to try the stuff we missed last time, but it is def on my list of places to go back too!

I voted GREAT. I will say that I have never ordered the skillet. When people mention negative things about Whispering Canyon Cafe, they tend to focus on the skillet. We just always order a la carte, whether we go there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

The lobby is beautiful. The restaurant and antics are fun. I will always be grateful to the servers for calming my two year old daughter on our arrival day in 2006. They helped her go from tears to smiles in a couple of minutes (she was understandably tired and grumpy from our 14 hour drive).

The service has always been good, and it's just such a relaxing place to me. When I am there, I always feel that there is need for pretense. I just relax and have a good time.

I usually order the rib eye a la carte, and it has always been delicious.

WCC is an experience worth doing at least once. We make an evening out of it, visiting the Wilderness Lodge and it's grounds after dinner. The food is just okay to us, and your server could be very fun with lots of interaction, or just okay and basically just doing his/her job. Your kids will enjoy it. They do the pony express race around the restaurant, have the kids stand on the chairs and sing, and once they had all the men come up front and sing and dance. Not DH's favorite moment, for sure, but the kids LOVED it!

We ate there twice last trip and enjoyed it. It is a hectic environment, not a relaxing, quiet dinner. I am a barbeque fan and I thought the food was good.

We have been there once and we loved it. We are going back in Sept. and WCC was the kids first request. We had a great waitress and she was a lot of fun. I asked for a diet soda and she brought me a shot glass with a long straw. We also thought the dessert was the best we had during our whole trip :cool1:

Personally I wouldn't pay attention to what anyone says about a restaurant. With so many people and opinions you'll never get a 100% agreement about a restaurant. I've been to some that everyone said was great(Le' Cellier) and I found the experience to be ok, and to some that said it was lousy(O'Hana) and loved it.

The only opinion I would take here about a restaurant being lousy is ABC Commissary. Trust me that one is horrible. There may be the occassional one or two who like it but the overwhelming majority have found it to be aweful. :)

ITA about ABC, awful. That one seems to be the consensus for sure. I just thought it weird that at least 50 % of the people on the worst restaurant thread said WCC.

AMEN Goofy!!!! We're trying it in September also, and didn't know about them throwing straws, and the drinks and stuff, my sister and my mom and son will like that!! I chose that place because of the BBQ, Ma LOVES bbq, and that trip is all about her, so woohoo!! I have been seeing the negative, but haven't been paying too much attention to them, like another poster said, you have 100 people all with different opinions about one place!! I say try it once, you may have a different experience!

I didn't vote in the poll because we never ate there BUT I am interested in reading opinions in WCC because one of my sons really wants to eat there on our next trip. He wants to try the skillet.

I agree. We have two small kids and if it's a non character restaurant, i'd like it to have Character. And it sounds as if WCC does indeed have character.

Oh and thanks for quoting me!!! LOL. I'm the one who said that about the 100 people/100 different experiences.

The food is pretty good, the atmosphere is loud but fun. We have had dinner here 2 times and ordered the skillet. They will bring all the food you want, in fact last May when we ate there it was pretty much the end of the night. We asked for a little more and the waiter brought out a whole full skillet. We couldn't eat it all and they wrapped it for us! I was very surprised at that. Maybe due to the fact that is was 10 pm they had food prepared and brought it out but we ended up with 2 bags of food!! There also is a regular menu aside from the skillet just to let you know.

I've at at WCC three times and had three different experiences with the food. I honestly could have voted for all three options because we've had great food, just OK food, and awful food.

The last time we went, June 2008, the food was awful. We all got the skillet and none of us liked it. All the food was greasy and just tasted bad. On the other hand service was great. It will be a long time before I ever go back to WCC.

I helped friends plan a trip to WDW for spring break this year and they ate at WCC. They had ADRs at WCC, Sci-Fi, 50's Prime Time, Coral Reef, and O'Hana. Their favorite was WCC. It was a group of 8 and everyone really enjoyed the food. I believe no one ordered the skillet either. We've also ate there and we enjoyed it also. Food was good but we were put in the back area away from the dining room so it was a much different atmosphere. Hope this helps.

The food was okay. I really did not care for all the yelling for ketchup and all the yelling the whole time. Will not go back.

And our experience while we were there (I already reported I thought the food was awful) was that there was none of the antics going on...we heard one singing, quietly, of happy birthday. None of the other stuff went on the two hours we were there.
