Ok, here's our story. We had a trip planned this year for Mardi Gras. Long story short, had to cancel due to the hurricane. I have three children so we only go around school holidays. Mardi Gras has always been a wonderful time to visit. The problem......Next year Mardi Gras week falls the same week as Presidents Week .:scared1: Our only options would be that week, Thanksgiving week or Christmas week. I know, I know all are bad weeks. So, which one would have less crowds?

Of the 3, President's Week is probably the best, crowdwise. However, we were there 12/25 this past year, and it wasn't bad. Go early in the day and take a break!

Well in looking at my DVC Planning guide that lists the various seasons/pricing for 2005, Christmas week was the highest so obvioulsy the most crowded, the weeks around President's Day were "Magic" so one level behind Christmas, and Thanksgiving was only Magic on Wed-Fri of Thanksgiving week and was Choice (second best season for crowds and pricing) on the Sat-Tue before Thanksgiving and then again on the weekend after Thanksgiving. So if thats not too confusing, I would say that it looks like Thanksgiving wins with the highest crowds only being there part of the week and the rest of the time looking pretty manageable. I would definitely think Christmas and Presidents (given that Mardi Gras is the same time) would almost be a tie. But, they would both have longer hours and at Christmas the decorations would be up. We just did Christmas/New Years week and were pleasantly surprised at all we could get done. We took advantage of the late night EMH's, staying until 4:00 a.m. one night. Walk on's the last three hours for the most part. If it were me however, all things considered, I would pick Thanksgiving. Holiday decorations are up, the weather would be nicer, the crowds seem to be there only for part of the week and what a nice way to kick off the holiday season for your family! Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'd choose Thanksgiving week. You have the Christmas decorations up. The crowds are a lot less earlier in the week, so you can get a lot of touring done before the masses show up.

We have been for Thanksgiving twice and found it got crowded by Wed. We got in a few really good days before. We left home on Friday and were in the parks over the weekend and even that was nice. It really is a magical time to visit and we caught the first day of the Osbourne Lights at MGM. We are going for Mardi Gras this year and hope the crowds are not bad. Hope all is well with you since the hurricane. I am in Vacherie and we got very little damage in this area, but we are praying for everyone. Life finally seems to be settling down now.
