Which vacation option would you rather?

Stay at a Deluxe resort at the end of August (Labour Day promotion), pay OOP for meals.

OR

Stay at a Moderate resort during the Food & Wine Festival (we've never been), possibility of free dining which would be upgraded to the DxDDP with a lot of Signature meals.

Unfortunately, we can't justify the $$$ for a Deluxe resort DURING F&W Festival so the compromise to moderate has to be made. Also for the record, we've only ever stayed at the value resorts so both Deluxe and Moderate would be new for us.

Which would you do and why?

Since you have stayed at a deluxe, and never a moderate or food and wine..I vote during food and wine I would just recommend avoiding epcot on weekends..since I heard it can get quite busy with locals

Actually the OP did indicate she HAS NOT been to either deluxe or mod.


OP, F&W in the fall and staying at a mod is what i'd pick.

Deluxe is a deal breaker for me, jmho. Given that its not for you, I would do f&W at a moderate. I would imagine since you all have only stayed value that a moderate would not disappoint and i would much prefer fall and f&w to end of august.

just a thought though......not sure what the cost to upgrade to dxdp is from free dining offhand....guessing about $50 per person per day would you consider just sticking with the regular dining plan and using that extra money to stay at an epcot area resort like bc or yc? that would make f&w so accessible. not sure the $$ works there but just a thought I'm sure your trip will be a nice one no matter what you decide! have fun

This is a 15 year anniversary trip for DH and myself so the kids' school schedules is not a factor. Nor is the heat. We've only ever been in September and find it hot but definitely bearable.

It will also be a lot more laid back trip. More time around the pool and leisurely dining experiences, less early morning rope drops, etc.

I think we'll go with the majority and stay at a moderate and go during F&W Festival. There is likely to be a lot to see and do at that time and Epcot is my favourite park as well. It would be a lot more handy location wise to be staying at Yacht or Beach Club (which is why I was considering the Labour Day promotion) but the benefits of going during F&W Festival outweigh it.

We definitely want to try the DxDDP at least once as well, but only if free dining is offered. For the dining experiences we want to have this trip, free dining is definitely a better discount for us than a room discount. Admittedly, I'm a little worried about it being too much food but I think if we do a breakfast/early lunch and late signature dinner, we'll be okay.

YAY!! I think since it is just you and DH you will totally enjoy the food and wine festival. Take your time enjoy all the food and wine that you may not be able to partake in with the kiddos..Also NO rushing you can take your time and enjoy each other's company...
