We are going in September and I want to make sure we have some ponchos to take. We are myself, my husband, daughter 7 and son 4. I don't think I want to buy the reusable ones because of having to use them then them being wet and having to store them etc. But I also don't want super cheap throw away ones that wont work well. But id prefer to just be able to throw a few new ones in the bag each day. Which ones do you all use? Any that are better than others. Our trip is 35 days away so trying to get together last minute stuff :)

I made the mistake of not having ponchos when I went to Disney 2 years ago. We were forced to buy the ones they sell at the park. However (i could be wrong) i believe they have life time guarantee. I know when one got torn i was able to walk up to any counter and exchange it. I still have them and I'm bringing them with me when we go and i'll just exchange to get new ones (I hope). I know it's not the best option because i believe they were expensive.

I have to vote for the dollar store variety. I like the fact they are already folded up nice and neat and when we don't need them any more we pitch 'em. No need trying to get them back in that little pack!

DH and I bought the Disney ponchos back in 2000 and those are still holding up to this day - 16 years later. No rips or anything.

We don't buy them for the kids because they are just going to outgrow them, but ours have held up amazingly. :)

We always bring 3-4 dollar store ones and if we have to use them we toss them at the end of the day. It's just easier than hanging them up to dry and refolding them to go in the backpack. I've never had a problem with them not keeping us dry or ripping or whatever. We're just wearing them in the rain, not playing rugby!

We bring $ store ones and just toss them for adults but bring rain coats for little kids. Ours did not like the ponchos when they were little. Some shows do require you to remove wet ponchos so be willing to toss a few and have extras or hold on to hold on to a wet one during the show.

I have a couple Disney ones from several years ago and they look like they
have never been worn, and believe me, they have and not just at Disney.
Last year on our Disney cruise and on one of our excursions they were handing our
ponchos as naturally it was raining so we took ours and for our husbands as well, well,
our husbands didn't use theirs so, I will take all of those as well....still perfectly
folded:flower::flower1::yay:

We just ordered the Disney Ponchos from the Disney store online and are having them shipped to our Resort this week. Disney store has a 25% off sale and free shipping right now that is good till Sunday. We ordered 4 of them (3 adult sizes and 1 kid size ) for $27.00.

I prefer the $1/poncho from Family Dollar. I make sure there is one for each person for everyday of the trip.
I have worn one over my park sling bag and had it last 3pm-10 pm, no rips. Could have reused but didn't want to fold up.

We only buy the ones with arms now, we wore the pullover ones when it was raining and windy and got soaked. Look at Disney rain slickers on amazon. They're nice in the summer because its so hot and these are thick like coats, just thicker vinyl with arms and are more fitted to the body instead of blowing around.

I just bought some today from Walmart. I bought a bunch of the clear disposable ones so we each have some for our handbags just in case and then I bought two nicer ones Frog Togg brand I believe which cost $4.99 and I liked that they were very lightweight for my suitcase and available in colors. Those weren't disposable. I may go back to another Walmart and buy 2 more for the kids since I got the last two on the shelf.

we are going on 6 years now with our park ponchos (for the adults), but the kids I just got some cheap superhero ponchos from amazon because they will outgrow them. My strategy though is to bring a large gallon-size ziplock and to stuff the wet ponchos in there once we don't need them anymore. I take our ponchos off inside out so they don't get wet, and fold them up inside out. Once we get back to the resort/house, i hang them up like coats in the closet to dry.

I got the adults cheapie ones and my son a decent one (olive kids on Amazon). I will be splurging for better ones for us adults next time. My son might need a new one. I think I will pick up some IKEA ones if they still have them.

Basically, my issue with the cheap ones is that if it is windy, then you might as well not even be wearing one. They blow around everywhere. It was especially windy the day it rained for us last time. My son's better poncho worked great.image.jpeg

We bring rain jackets and dollar ponchos. Wear jackets when rain is imminent. I buy a bunch of the ponchos and they are small and easy to store in my sling bag. Spend about $20 on them for the week for our family of four and happily toss them if we use them. Last thing I want to deal with is 4 wet ponchos when the rain stops.

If I remember correctly, the Disney Parks ponchos are not that expensive at all. Around $8 I think. Considering how much everything else is there, I thought that was reasonable. They've lasted us for about 6-7 years so far.
