Which tickets to buy?

I could really use some advice. We are going to Disney in the fall, and planning on being there around 7 or 8 days. We are also going to be in Florida for spring break, and are planning on stopping for 1 day at EPCOT. My dh and I both have non-expire tix from awhile back...2 days on each. Here is the question...

Should we use those for our 1 day and buy tix for our girls? I was thinking about getting the 10 day nonexpire pass, as we have plans to be in the Florida area next spring break, as well. I looked and it's over $2000 for 10 day nonexpire passes!! We were in Disney in 2009...and I know my oldest is now an "adult", but really. That seems like a bit much.

From doing math, I don't think we can do the non-expiration tix. I don't think it's economical. What does anyone else think?

Compare the costs.

For adult MYW base tickets:
1-day ticket in spring = $90.53
7-day ticket in fall = $284.36
total = #374.89

OR

10-day no expire pass = $549.54

A difference of $174.65 for the two remaining unused days on the 10-day pass. The days would never expire and could be used on separate trips.

The current price for a 2-day MYW base ticket is $ 178.92

None of this takes a price increase into account. They usually occur in August. Last year, prices went up in July.

Plus you need to think about tying up your money in 10-day tickets. Even the most concrete plans can change.

Seems like Disney makes it harder and harder to decide which tickets to buy for how long - not very user friendly to figure them out. The annual pass is about the same price as the full 10 day hopper. The only main difference it seems is that water parks don't expire either. What we have done is at one point bought the full 10 day, and we still have unused water parks on them - we only go once or twice on our trips. Then, when we go 2-3 times a year we get the annual passes. But, it depends on each situation, how often you go, and how long you stay each time for the annual pass to be a better deal for us. We like the fact we're not "wasting" days if we decide to go in for just a little while,etc. Good luck and enjoy whichever you decide Also, as PP pointed out, it's a lot of money to shell out at one time and have it tied up whether you get to use it or not!

Use the leftover non-expires for the one day trip. Buy new one day tickets for the girls.

Buy new tickets without non-expiration for the upcoming 8 day trip.

Exactly what days will you be there for spring break 2013 as well as in fall 2012? You must answer that question first before you can choose the best tickets.

It doesn't.

It would not be economical to use those two days if you had to buy more than one additional day to finish that vacation with.

This is because for a vacation of 4 to 10 days, a brand new ticket for all (X) days costs much less than a brand new ticket for "X minus 2" days plus the value remaining in your leftover 2 days. (The 2 leftover days might save you about $20. when all is said and done when you bought new tickets.)

The only way it is worth it to us is to do it occasionally because of the non-expire water park tickets. We still have some from several years ago because we only use about 1 ea. trip. We've already gotten our money out of them and have 3 ea. left of water parks ( saying you pay for 1 day water parks each time). In April we'll get our AP's again for our next three trips within a yr.

However, we may just use up what we have (we don't do water parks so I don't have any of those left to fill up the days) and do other things on the 4 remaining days, maybe the beach or Kennedy Center.

I really don't want to buy new tickets since this is supposed to be a very budget trip (MIL paid for condo and we are driving).

Sounds like a "win-win" situation to me I had some tickets like that from several years ago (from when they just stamped a date when you used them) and we hadn't signed them (we never sign "anything" unless we're specifically told to) so used them for ourselves and a couple with us because, like you said could not say which one belonged to who, and boy, did I get FLAMED Unused tickets like that were being sold all over FL at that time, so sure wasn't going to waste mine that "I" had actually paid for Now, it's a different story altogether with the new tickets, but I still don't sign unless they see it and ask me to, then I do. My reasoning is because I don't like my signature everywhere (my dh & I don't even sign our credit cards, just put C I D on them- were advised to do that years ago) to help prevent identity theft. Anyway, long story, but don't worry, have fun
