The ship can park in either direction at the pier, so it's 50/50 if your side will get the view of the island. I've seen more photos with the starboard side facing the island, but a lot of those are from the same early cruises.
There really isn't that much to see from the ship. Just the pier and island off in the distance. I wouldn't really worry about it. You will get plenty of view on the island.
I’m honestly curious. Why does it matter? We are up early and go to breakfast where we might catch the captain pulling into the island, then pack/exit the ship. Catch the tram back at 3:45, shower and get ready for dinner. We don’t have time to watch the island as we prefer to be on it. Maybe if we had a balcony it might be different. How long do you watch the island from your room?
It’s actually really interesting to watch the docking - which is way more involved at LP. And yes, I sat on the balcony watching it. And the crew bringing things up and down the pier before passengers could get off the ship. Then I timed how long the walk was for a couple groups of passengers (average 10 minutes).
