I would book WLV since it is a smaller resort and it will be harder to get into later on when there are more members if it is not your home resort.

To me it would depend upon your taste, plans, time of year and who is traveling with you.

Younger ones and a lot of MK trips I would go to the VWL. November through New Year's also the VWL. Adult trip with lots of trips to DTD, then SSR.

Look at pictures of the resorts. Which one appeals to you?

HBC is right. The resort you choose depends more upon your tastes than anything else. My wife, daughter, and I prefer VWL since we frequent MK; plus, we feel VWL is a quieter than most other resorts when it comes time for us to relax at the end of a day. Though the theming at SSR is good, the Northwest lodge feel and theme of VWL is what we prefer. We also love eating at AP, one of WDW's top restaurants. Plutofan is also correct with the assumption that right now it's easier to get into VWL than it will be in, say, 5-10 years, so go for VWL while you can. Given SSR's relative newness and ongoing expansion, it should be easier to book there down the road. Personally, I doubt that you could go wrong with either choice.
