Help Again :worship:

I want to buy some shape up shoes for Disney, but not sure which to buy. I know Sketchers have some, but I seen New Balances and some other types not sure of the brand.

Does anyone have any experiences with this type of shoes, and which one is worth the money?

Thanks:)

it depends on what you consider making them "worth the money". I have a pair of Sketchers Shape ups. Do i think they were worth it for the fitness aspect? No-i was already pretty toned in my calves and thighs so i didnt see a difference-and i walked miles and miles in them in Europe. Do i think they were worth for the change in my posture? Absolutely-i have less back and hip pain than in years. And i have terrible -like unbelievably bad planar facitis-i dont think i would have survived the trip to Europe in my other styles of shoes-for that reason alone they would be worth twice what i paid for them.
DO NOT buy a new pair and wear them all day for the first time at Disney-you will ruin the rest of your trip-as i said-i was pretty toned and they made me sore as heck the first few days-get them at least a month ahead and walk some in them every day. And its normal to feel like you are going to fall down the first couple of time you walk in them.

personally I don't think they are worth it. I too was pretty fit, and they did nothing for me in that aspect. I don't have any back or foot problems either, so I can't say they fixed anything like that. I don't think my posture changed at all either, but they did make me taller. Mine have actually been sitting in my closet untouched for the last month or so, and I'm thinking of trying to sell them on Ebay or Craigslist.

As the PP mentioned, I definately wouldn't use Disney as my first place to wear them. They made my ankles REALLY sore. In fact, I couldn't wear my Sketchers more than 2-3 hours or they hurt my feet (under the foot in the arch area) and ankles terribly. When I looked online at some reviews later on, I realized that was actually a pretty common complaint. Yes, I was using them correctly, as they aren't that hard to figure out. You just walk heel to toe.

I got Reebok Easy Tone shoes. I got them to help with my plantar fascitis. They're very comfortable and I'd recommend them. (Your legs do get tired if you wear them all day).

I've got shape up's from Skecher. I love them. I wore them to WDW. One word of caution: If you are riding the bus standing up and have them on it is NOT FUN! I rocked back and forth a lot and almost fell onto my DD. I have great balance, but with the crazy bus driver and a full day of walking in the shoes I had a really hard time.

Otherwise, my posture is MUCH MUCH better since wearing these shoes.

I own the Reebok Easy Tones and LOVE them!

Last week my Mom bought the sketchers to wear on a trip to NYC with my 14 yo DD. DD was horrified---"they are so ugly"

My 65 year old mother bought the reeboks instead and came home raving! She wears black SAS shoes usually and was thrilled with how great her feet and legs felt in the Reeboks!!

I work in a hospital and all the Doctors I work with agree that the fitness claims are exaggerated at best. However they are extremely comfortable and if you have foot or back pain they work wonders.

I paid $80 for my sketchers and feel they were worth every penny; for the first time in years my feet do not hurt after I get home from work. I can't wait to try them out at Universal in November.

I bought TheraShoes at Kmart for under $40.00. You can see them at therashoe.com or kmart.com. They are on sale this week for $19.99.

I love them. I wore them right out of the box for 2-1/2 days. I also wore them at WDW this past May.

I have the Reebok Easy Tones and I actually did wear them for the first time on my trip to Disney. I definitely felt the difference in my legs - my legs were sore, but not in a bad way...I like the soreness that you feel after working out.

Plus, I think the Easy Tones just look so much better than the Sketchers and the other brands.

I bought the Shape ups the day before we left for disney, but still packed my New Balance sneakers. I started out by wearing the shape ups a half day at a time. I did not have any of the soreness that they warned of. I have bad knees and the shape ups were awesome for that....my knee did not hurt like they normally do at disney.

I will agree with the bus experience. Hang on tight! It did seem a little better if I kept my weight either forward or towards the heels.

They are not the best looking shoes I ever owned, but they are comfy!!!:yay:

I'm not really interested in the fitness aspect...but over the past year have developed heel pain that can be pretty bad.. I guess it's that Plantar thing..so, I'd be really interested in hearing more people's experiences with heel pain being helped by these types of shoes..So far, I think the feel and look of the reebok Easy Tones the best, but would love opinions on other experiences..

i have shape-ups and they work out good for me at work. i stand on concrete and my feet don't hurt. i do have to wear a different shoe once a week because my back starts to bother me. it could be the shoes, but, it could also be the fact that with the shoes on i am 1" or so taller and now i have to bend over more to do some aspects of my job.
the comfort is definitely there. they also say that you might not be able to wear them all the time. well, that is the case for me. but, they have been good.

watch for kohls to have them on sale and then look on here for a 30% off code. i did this plus my company gave us some money toward new shoes so, mine only cost me $17.

Skechers were hard to find at first for under $100 but lately there have been a lot of sales. My wife got hers at Kohls with the Kohls sale price of $80 plus a 30% off coupon to bring it down to $56. She doesn't go anywhere without her pedometer on. She tries to do a minimum of 10,000 steps/day and she has never felt uncomfortable or sore with her Skechers. She also uses Fit Flops and likes them as much as the Skechers.

Rather than buying a hokey shape-up shoe (which also look strange), you'd be better off getting a good pair of New Balance shoes. If you need extra cushioning, add gel inserts. Those shape-up shoes can change your walking gait and cause more problems down the road.

I actually wore regular flip-flops just one day on our last Disney trip. I wanted something easy in the airport. I ended up with a nerve problem in my foot called Morton's neuroma. Now the only thing I can wear that stops my foot pain is my Shape-Up sandals. I wear them almost every waking hour. I'm thinking I'll have to buy another pair or two of Shape-Ups because sandals will look funny here in winter!

my daughter and I both have the reebok easy tones. I like the fact that they look like regular shoes and are the most comfortable shoe I own. I have never felt any pain in my legs from wearing them and I wear them all day and almost everyday. They do help with back pain, if i dont wear them for a few days my back kills me at night. My daughter works in a hospital and is on her feet all day and she loves hers

I have the Curves brand sold by Avon. They are only $50 and very comfortable. I know 2 other people who wear them and they work on their feet constantly. They really love them too.

My Shape Ups have been worth every penny because they lessened my lower back and hip pain (a result of my first child's birth). They are like a miracle to me! My only advice to you is to try on the different brands. I went to the store sure I was getting the Reebok Easytones and I walked out with Sketchers. :)

As far as getting a good deal, be weary of immitations from cheaper brands. I have heard that hte cheaper shoes are more likely to cause you to hurt your ankles (less support). So what you save in buying the shoes you lose in x-rays when you break your ankle! That's what I've been reading lately, anyway.
