If my title was not clear, I am looking to identify which resorts have exterior room doors that open to the outside, as opposed to opening within a hallway inside a building.

Thanks!

All of the values and moderates have doors opening to the outside. There are a couple of deluxes as well, the Polynesian for one (I'm not sure of which others).

The Poly does not have room doors opening to the outside. It has interior corridors, it's just that the buildings are separate, so the building door opens to the outside, not your room door.

SSR has room doors that open to exterior hallways, not sure about OKW.

I believe other than SSR and maybe OKW, all deluxes have interior corridors.

Our room at the Poly opened into an interior hallway of the longhouse, not the outside. All the deluxes we have stayed at opened into a hallway-BC, AKL, BW, Poly, and WL.

OKW and SSR open to the outside.

Saratoga Springs & Old Key West

As Kathy said, all the values, all the mods. Also Saratoga Springs and Old Key West. Some of the resorts like the Poly and the GF have multiple buildings, not attached to the lobby, but the room doors do open to a hallway. The Ft Wildnerness Cabins obviously have exterior non hallway set ups.

You are right...I apologize. It's been a while since we were there and I did forget they open to the inside and then you walk outside to get anywhere. Thanks for correcting me. :)

A BoardWalk standard studio on the ground floor has a door that opens to the outside.

Interestingly, the Unofficial Guide did a sound level test and found that the exterior hallway resorts--especially the 3 moderates--were the quietest on the entire property. Their theory on why is because the exterior doors are stronger and block more noise. The deluxe doors leave more room on the bottom, for both light and sound to filter in. Also, you tend to hear others closing their doors more.

Had I not thought about it, I probably would have assumed the opposite would be true.

If you are concerned about noise, its worth taking a look at the book--the 2010 version just came out, and as usual, is awesome.

Actually I was concerned more about cleanliness. I know this may not actually be the case, but hotels with exterior room doors that open inside a hallway seem to be cleaner to me, and also seem to contain less bugs and other insects.

Actually, we've had the complete opposite. Our cleanest room has always been the Coronado (a moderate). Our dirtiest was the Contemporary (and we were in a tower room and a garden view room...and we had bugs in both of them). I think it just depends on how quickly the doors are closed when you enter your room or the patio doors in the deluxes.

Well, even though in a value or mod your main room door opens to the outside, in most of the deluxes, you have a patio door that opens to the outside instead. So if you are worried about bugs especially, you have an outside entry point no matter what. I have found that it really doesn't matter one bit!

I have to say I'd agree with you anywhere else besides Disney. I refuse to stay at a hotel for work that has outside corridors. At Disney, don't care. I will however request an upper floor (a safety issue with me...my boyfriend says I'm paranoid!)

I've never had a problem with cleanliness at a Disney hotel, value, moderate, or deluxe. If you think about it, the doors at values & moderates get shut quickly, but the balcony doors at the deluxes can stay open longer because people will be standing & enjoying the view. That's never cause a problem for me personally, our room has always been clean, but if you do decide that the deluxes are too pricey, I wouldn't let the outside entry of the mods/values deter you from choosing them. Not a problem @ Disney.

Probabaly easier to list which resorts are NOT exteriors door....
